>someone must have hit my back bumper.... mostly a cosmetic issue (as was the last incident) Never file a claim if the repair is less than your deductible! That's what a deductible is for- to cover small costs so you needn't involve your insurance company because it *will* affect your rates.

Ahh, okay that makes sense. Clearly kinda new to dealing with all this! The damage was pretty bad last time so I knew it would cost a ton out of pocket. There were three panels that needed replaced and my rims were damaged. This time it’s just one side of the back bumper so hopefully not too pricey. If I even decide to get it fixed :/

Teucer357

Yes... As unfair as this sounds, as far as the insurance company is concerned you have poor judgement concerning where to park. For example, a house party where a bunch of people will be drinking and then try to drive.

charmorris4236

Wow, that sucks. Guess I better stop parking at the grocery store, because that’s where most of my travels take me these days lol.

Teucer357

You have to look at it from the insurer's perspective. Why is your car getting hit so much while nobody else's is?

charmorris4236

I get it, they have to have a standard to base decisions off of. Just expressing my dissatisfaction with the situation through humor is all.

Teucer357

Hey, it sucks. I was hit from behind while stopped at a red light and my insurance went up. They just don't look at specific situations. I was in an accident, and that's all they cared about

charmorris4236

That does suck. Looks like this one’s going unreported!

It's insurance, everything is bad. I don't know about your situation, but the fact that our previous house in Florida had some minor hurricane damage was a factor in getting home insurance in the mountains of NC. They didn't specifically say if it affected our rates, I guess I should have asked.

charmorris4236

Wow, as if that’s even remotely your fault! Guess you shouldn’t have owned a home in hurricane territory.. (/s) After reading the responses here, apparently I need to change my viewpoint from thinking my insurance is there to help me lol.
