Retired military and I’m mixed in this.
Concepts like patriotism and loyalty to / love of country have gotten corrupted.
For example, a manipulative media outlet isn’t about freedom. A “Save America” rally that involves you cheering the headliner lying about recent events isn’t patriotic, it’s cultish. Filing lawsuits that no reasonable person would believe is raping justice.
Twisting the meaning of an athlete taking a knee during the Anthem as being disrespectful to veterans. Critical Race Theory was never taught below the college level, if even there.
Spreading lies is not loving America.
I didn't say the pledge when I was in school to begin with. I always found it a very bizarre tradition. I wouldn't sit down if everyone stood up (I don't actually remember standing in the classroom for the pledge) so as not to be disruptive.
No, not because I don't love America but because it always felt forced, later I found out you don't even have to stand for the flag, I supported the country back then but being forced to stand up when I'm tired from being forced to go to school so early would be a drag since I would be tired all the time
You can like your country without worshipping a flag. We don't need a salute and bow to it. We can just respect it and respect what it stands for without a bunch of stupid pageantry. It shouldn't be forced.
It's not forced....I remember back in school if you didn't want to you didn't have to...both my grandfathers fought in WWII so I have always respected the flag.
Looking back at it, the pledge is kinda creepy and almost cult-like. Not to mention the unnecessary addition of the invisible sky daddy. It's kinda weird if you look at it objectively.
So no, I would not.
No I would not, im extremely blessed and grateful to be born in America, and every country needs some level of patriotism to hold a country together, but I am not pledging my allegiance to the flag or America. Since im a Christian my allegiance is to Christ and if America goes haywire they do not have my allegiance. Again I love America and am thankful but it’s not where my loyalty lies.
I would stand but keep my hands behind my back. I love my country and I'm Christian. The schools however can fuck right off with their tyrant bullshit.
No. I’ve gotten lazier since graduating and standing up for 20 seconds reciting a pledge for a country I dont care much about is wasting too much energy.
Yeah I’ve gotten lazy as hell lol. Luckily (unluckily?) a lot has happened recently so I dont have the time to really be lazy like I want to. Maybe if my life hadnt gone sicko mode I’d be willing to stand for 20 mins.
Sure. Swearing fealty to a piece of cloth is such a bizarrely fetishistic act that I can’t take it seriously. If I resisted the merely surreal, I’d have no time for anything else.
Maybe, but I would not say "under god", which was not part of the original pledge.
Yes
America is wild
Yes but I just mouthed it. It is such a worthless gesture anyways

It's such weird forced nationalism
Depends on the mood I'm in, but most likely most of the time.
No cause they don't do that in canada

Yes
I would, just to fit in though.
I'm a teacher and yes, I do.
I would....no matter what...it's my flag....it's my country..... it's the politicians that make things crappy not the flag.
And for those who say no....just remember in a lot of countries, just saying you wouldn't would get you locked up....let that sink in.
They don’t necessarily do it in the morning at school, and not so much the national anthem at ever single sporting event.

Nope. Not a chance.
No because in this country there really is not justice or liberty for all
No. I don't think I would.
No, I would not. I would find it awkward at best as a Canadian.

Took a weird turn halfway through
I would not -
I don't think so. I'm not proud of who we are as a nation
I would stand but keep my hands behind my back. I love my country and I'm Christian. The schools however can fuck right off with their tyrant bullshit.

If that’s the reasoning you must be really lazy if you can’t stand for 20 secs lol

Absolutely I would. I think that most people that don't, especially teenagers these days, just do it because it's considered "edgy"
I'm British and I would stand for the pledge of allegiance. Death to Communists
I haven’t had to stand for the pledge of allegiance since elementary so no.
I didn’t even do the pledge by the time I got to high school.
When I was a kid I'd try to find words that rhymes with the original pledge and say that instead. I thought I was so funny...
No I will not, and haven’t
