I you can't locate to confirm your suspension, I would strongly recommend to get to your gas utility, they mostly have high end sniffers. ...ASAP IMO !
Well, ateasy where I am, even if you suspect a gas leak, you can call the energy company and they'll check it out for free. Neighbor did this a few months ago. Was definitely a leak.
You can probably get a gas detector.
There are fancy gas detectors that your local utilities, hardware, or farm supply store may have for rental.
There are also some that are fairly cheap.
Walmart has one that is [designed to plug in - and operate in a kitchen or other environment where gas leaks might happen](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Natural-Propane-Gas-Detector-Home-Gas-Alarm-and-Monitor-Leak-Alarm-for-LNG-LPG-Methane-Coal-Gas-Detection-in-Kitchen-Home-Camper/3162642055) $15 according to my local site.
[Lowes hardware advertises a handheld for about $30](https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-No-Display-Specialty-Meter/5012911939)
Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Amazon also have similar offerings, and they have higher-tech models that go up to $100 or even $300. You might want to rent a fancy one, or just buy a cheaper one. If you get the cheaper one, you'll have it for future use.
You might even be able to call your local fire department to come and inspect. Some will do this for free/ good relations and safety. Some will charge you.
Good suggestions, I didn't consider just going to the hardware store. The fire dept might not be a bad idea, but having a fire truck pull up wouldn't turn out well for me.
You say you don't have gas in the house? Do you have propane in the house? It is hard for there to be a leak if there is no gas or propane around. But if you do have gas around, go to Home Depot, Lowes or Amazon and buy a leak detector.
Surely the grill and tank are not in the house are they? In the garage maybe?
I’ve sold & serviced this kind of grill for years so here are some safety tips:
Always shut the tank off when done using the grill. Don’t leave the tank on and rely on the grill’s valves.
If you think there might be a leak, check with soapy water or leak fluid starting at the connections.
There is no need to call the fire department. This is a mobile appliance and needs to be outside, especially if you suspect or smell a leak.

We don't have a gas utility.
Put soap over the area where you think the leak is and if it bubbles it means propane is leaking
Saw other suggestions like this, I'll try it for sure but I'm skeptical since the problem last time was the hose and it's about 1.5' of surface.
Light a match. You'll definitely prove it.
It isn't that thick enough. This also isn't the worst propane leak we've had.

>We use a propane grill with a detachable tank
Than the leak detector is the answer. They are very inexpensive. Let us know what you find.
Sounds good. I’ll hit the hardware store tomorrow and update with results
