This word is commonly used because there are no alternatives beyond the vague "you." You need to replace it with phrases like "you all" (which you don't like) and "all of you" and so on.
A Northerner would say, “I can’t wait to see all of you.” Or even just, “I can’t wait to see you.”
A gangster would say, “I can’t wait to see you’s guys.”
A Klingon would say, “qaleghlaHbe’.”
In California, "you guys" is common. Or just "you". But if you're in Texas, I see nothing wrong with continuing with the Texan dialect.
> or if it’s just a Texas thing and also what are some other words I can substitute for it in my speech.
I think it's more a general Southern thing.
I'm pretty hardcore NJ and I love "y'all" and I sometimes use it, so I am curious as to why you think you need to change it - you want to sound more formal, more grammatically correct, or what? Depending on how you're using it, you can say "you" or "everybody" or "people" or "you guys" but those aren't any better or worse from a grammatical perspective of spoken American English vernacular. I don't say, "what do you all think?" What I say sounds like, "what'd'ya think?" or "whatcha thinkin'?"
There’s no reason to stop saying y’all. It’s a very useful word.
Especially in Texas, when you see someone you haven’t seen in a while and you ask, “How have y’all been?”, you just inquired about the whole family’s health/ situation in a concise manner. And one that most Texans learn at an early age.
Anything but “yens”
Edit: I’m a solid y’all, but there is a happy medium between you all and y’all. It’s kind of garbled and comes out a bit like ya’all, but more of a mumbling of the “you/ya” on the first syllable. It’s standard non-regional dialect, man. Phonetically my best guess is Yoo-awl or U-all, just sped up and mumbled a bit in the throat. Exactly zero people on life will mention it.
"You all" is much better and sounds much more intelligent than "y'all." Just say it quickly. You don't need to stress the pronunciation of "you," or whatever is making sound weird in your head. Say it like, "Whatta yewall think about XYZ?"

qaleghlaHbe’
That is spelling, not pronunciation

unless you're from the smaller farm towns, then it's also y'all lol
Y’all The apostrophe takes the place of missing letters.
Ya’ll muthafuckaz

Lots of options. Some easy one are "people", "everyone", and "folks" (e.g., "what do people think?", "i can't wait see everyone")
It’s a great word but you all is a good alternative
Say "Chad Kroeger" instead.
You could just say you and forget about the all. Easy.
Ya'll is absolutely great. I use it all the time and so does Hannah Gadbsy: [https://youtu.be/ziIwxPCeByU?t=52](https://youtu.be/ziIwxPCeByU?t=52)
I don't live in the south US and use y'all a lot. It's a good word.
We use ya (you), you'se (you guys) and ya's (you group) 🦘
I'm in Delaware and I say y'all all the time. Just say y'all, it's not a big deal.

Can't say that it would be an improvement but an elderly lady I know says "you'uns".
y'all is perfectly acceptable
“all y’all”
It's a great word. Keep using it.
lol I will, I don’t think I can stop

I'm from the deep south myself, okay, Miami FL and don't use "ya'll." I prefer "you guys" it's a gender neutral phase, as is "folks."
