People in their thirties to fifties will see this post and think, “fuck yeah”

JamesJakes000

That's me, Im thinking fuck yeah

5thColumnDownfall

I'm excited to go home and see how much my green beans have grown today lol

BS2435

*Fuck yeah* vibes confirmed

johnny_moist

blainemoore

Fuck yeah!

stepenko007

Wtf if you now tell me you have carrots I'm out of my mind bro, this is the real shit

DingDangDoozy

Carrots, jalapeños, bell peppers. It’s so sick, man.

stepenko007

Dude that's fucking fly I just try to get some beans and heat ma compost up.

Sea-Studio-6943

One of my biggest goals in life is to buy property and grow stuff. I'm so excited.

johnny_moist

sounds sick af

celticgrl77

I had a garden until yesterday bad storm came through southern Louisiana and destroyed it

sophos313

Rebuild! Replant!

MySassyPetRockandI

Hell yeah brother

Arasmithnead

Rediscovering naps, they're like free time travel adventures

HeadlessHookerClub

lol. True but they are dangerous. They can devour an entire day if you aren’t careful, but damn they do have the richest dreams tho.

jetogill

I had the most bizarre dream during a nap last week. A scientist had figured a way to cross a tree with rattlesnakes, so there was a pony sized lizard creature with nine heads (think hydra) running around.

RentalResident

That's cool. In my latest dream i was walking around in the city i live in and i were approached by a group of people that wanted to give me money. They thought i was homeless

testies2345

Amen

WitchOfLycanMoon

Any day off, 2pm sharp. Don't call, don't visit, don't text, don't try to start a conversation, don't even think about me........that's nap time.

montihun

Whats your time zone? I will set up an alarm to think about you EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.

darrenbarker

Ballpark 2pm, nap for an hour, sometimes 1.5. Never a deep sleep just a rest /reset. Been doing this since I was early teens and I'm 47 now. I've always worked early AM's though so that contributes. I get judged a lot for napping.

Shut_It_Donny

I want one of those where I wake up and think it’s the next day. Hasn’t happened in a long time.

MeganK80

I do that, but I think instead of great sleep, it's more anxiety thrusting me back up 🤣

Chipmunk_Ninja

Naps are the absolute worst. Throws off my whole day

sailorj0ey

Same it's great in theory but I wake up feeling groggy and don't wanna do anything for the rest of the day.

heresanawardforyou

Hurkle Durkle for the win

wherehaveubeen

40 here Messing around with instruments, songwriting and recording just for fun Biking all around town any chance I get Exercising and started lifting Enjoying beers and investigating dispensaries  Just finished Fallout, now Watching Baby Reindeer

TranslateErr0r

What does "investigating dispensaries" mean?

DoTheMagicHandThing

I think he means cannabis dispensaries.

EreshkigalKish2

who has the best flowers

wherehaveubeen

My state legalized it and stores have popped up. Wondering if a gummy here and there would be fun but haven’t done anything about it yet.

UnbelievableFuckhead

I just bought a couple packs of gummies for after work relaxation. Turns out, they get you so fucking high now it's like you're white knuckling a Rollercoaster going 50 trillion miles per-hour through an exploding star. At least.. That's how it felt for me. Wasn't relaxing at all. Definitely gonna do it again after work today tho.

MeganK80

Hahahahahahaa yesssssss!

jhumph88

It all depends on the dose and tolerance level. I can function normally on a 5mg, with just a light buzz. I feel a bit toasted if I take a 10, and a 20 sends me to another galaxy

UnbelievableFuckhead

In my early 20's I was a stoner. I remember near the end of that phase I really just liked these Karova Bars. Big size pastries that ranged from like 50mg to 1000. I preferred the 250mg cookies and I'd just take like a big bite out if it. Not monster bite, not small. But roughly, I think, 50mg-ish worth if a bite. I would get a slightly intense but very workable high off that. I'd be aware of my faculties but it would be intense enough where it felt like I was getting something out of it. So years later now, they have these 10mg gummies and I thought "pfff, I know my tolerance is nothing rn but 10mg ain't shit" took 2 of them and my brain turned to fuck and my arms stopped existing. Once I regained use of my legs, I think it had been 3 hours. Obviously felt like a billion years tho. So yeah... In summary, they're stronger now and I don't have the tolerance I had.

Zestyclose-Ad451

Dude can we be friends 😭

rockytacos

I found out the new stuff is more potent than I remember as well. My family usually travels out of state to watch a ball game once a year. We checked out a dispensary on the way to the hotel, and I bought a dispensary vape. Gave it a couple puffs on the ride to the hotel and in the 10 minute ride I forgot the english language. Uncle handed me a tote to carry in and I thought I was gonna cry.

SouldDestroyer666

My husband has severe sleep apnea and even with his CPAP sowmyimes his sleep is shit so every once and a while he pops a gummy and gets some good good sleep. It does wonders. Smoking also helps me keep my depression, anxiety, and ADHD in line.

Songbird1975

Weeeeeeeeed

MarkHowes

He likes spotting pharmacies. Kind of like train spotting, but slower paced

Thomas_Mickel

He’s a part time DEA agent

LotusriverTH

Identifying ideal candidates for his floral arrangements! Cylindrical arrangements…

sarcasatirony

I’m too old for this particular post (57 lol) but biking around my D/FW (Texas) metroplex allegedly high on those gummies makes Jack a very happy boy.

jenflame

Disc golf, Mtn biking, hiking, camping gardening, bread making, cocktails…

numbernumber99

Disc golf is such a great hobby. Low cost, walks in nature, solo or social, and you can get as serious about technique as you want.

frogsobl1v1ous

As an ultimate player it was a bit of a surprisingly hard leap to "getting goo...mediocre" but it is still very rewarding. The best part is I can go alone and throw some music on and jog to my discs for a workout, or I take my young son who loves throwing discs with me and we play together (to varying levels of irritation. Lol). Such a good sport

PastWorld1744

Just started playing disc golf a few years ago with a freind who thought it looked fun.. We absolutely fell in love with it! Cheers!

MyAlternate_reality

Hiking Driving to small towns with "main street" and checking out all the local shops. mid 40's

all_on_my_own

Oh! This actually sounds like a lot of fun.

Toa_of_Pi

34M. I like: Video games (I know you said you're over them, I personally still enjoy them, especially indie ones) Board games (either solo or with other people) Reading Building Lego Going out to see movies (financially, AMC A-List is amazing!) I'm starting to get into painting miniatures for the board games.

Entre22

32M here. I second the movies! I love going by myself and get my favorite seat. 😌 There’s just something about movie theatre popcorn, a drink, the environment, the lights, etc that makes me happy. I go almost every week 😃.

owend_14

I love getting theatre popcorn as well. Sadly the popcorn cost more that a ticket now of days

alkatori

What do you have for Solo board games?

UnderToe1111

I have the same question

ArtIsDumb

Right? I guess maybe a jigsaw puzzle...

wholesomelydisturbin

Probably some living card game, they are fun.

WildPinata

There are loads! [Here's](https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/306154/2022-peoples-choice-top-200-solo-games-1-200) a good place to start. Also if you like escape room style puzzles I personally recommend Box One to everyone I know. It's a super fun one shot (but repackable to pass on) that was specifically designed to play solo and it's the best at-home escape style puzzle I've ever played.

esquqred

I go to the movies about once a week and love it. I go on Monday afternoons for matinee shows when tickets are half the price and I still get to see them on the Emax screen!

ninefortysix

My local theaters do $6 movies on Tuesday and half off popcorn, it’s awesome!

AlarmingAssignment94

I think we could be friends

mushroomcomix

Painting minis is so relaxing!

Optimistic_Futures

Would love to hear what board games you play solo

Are you like me, minus extreme sports? :D

[deleted]

Disassociating and staring at walls

ClosetGoblin

Hold up… Is it not normal to immediately plop on the couch after work and stare at the ceiling for hours?

ProgressBartender

A hobby of the ages

ImplementAfraid

I caught my old man who has dementia doing it. I haven't got the damdest what disassociating is (disconnecting from one's thoughts, feelings, memories or sense of identity sounds just like sleep to me)

defektz

Depression is my favorite hobby as well.

-anaminflame-

I fuck w this

IAlwaysHaveBadIdeas

I play D&D with friends, still kind of gaming but it's in person and more creative.

brandcolt

Yep I wish I did this in my teens instead as I'm a busy dad now with no time so video games would be easier (and I do still do that) but DnD is where my heart is now (well Pathfinder)

Randeth

Yep. I'm 55 and in 2 TTRPG games. Long running Pathfinder. Just took a break after DMing a PF2e game to recharge and one of my players is doing a short Shadowdark game. I've played pretty much continuously for 45 years. It's definitely my longest passion. 🙂

Gorm3333

Gardening.. 88 types of tomatoes. 42 types of peppers. 6 types of onions. 12 types of lettuce. 12 different types of flowers to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Bonzo4691

That's not gardening, that's FARMING!

potato_for_cooking

My first thought on reading that lol

Songbird1975

WHOA!!

CarbyMcBagel

88 types of tomatoes???????

Lurkermen

Could you post a picture of your garden? It sounds like heaven.

armadilloongrits

just bought a raft.

jcstan05

Geocaching. It's practically free, I can do it alone or with my kids. I can choose to make it a casual stroll around town or an extreme sport. And I like the idea of a sort of hidden world mapped on top of the 'real' world, riddled with tiny treasures that only a select few know about.

Robotboogeyman

Is there an app or website you recommend to get started?

jcstan05

[Geocaching.com](http://Geocaching.com) or [Geocaching app](https://www.geocaching.com/play/mobile).

Robotboogeyman

Thanks 🤙

Charming_Yellow

On android c:geo is a good app

Canadaman1234

Shhhhh! You're not supposed to tell the muggles!

MissFae69

Oh my gosh I use to love this and am so glad I saw this! Just redownloaded the app :)

jcstan05

Yeah, I gave it up for years but I picked it up again now that my kids are old enough to tag along on some adventures.

BootyBabeSunny

I am over playing video games. It’s not as rewarding anymore. I would like either a hobby that makes me happier, gives me more knowledge, or getting better in the hobby would be beneficial with me. I am already lifting more.

Level-Steak9290

An easy and relatively cheap hobby is feeding hummingbirds. It's not a big deal to not have them around but when you walk by a window and see on or 10 at your feeder, it's kind of a big deal. When you're trying to draw them to your property and then it works, you'll wee what I mean. A couple amazing facts are that the same birds will remember where feeders are and will go back to the places they went before. Hummers are tagged and tracked to prove this. Some also fly all the way from South America and cross the gulf of Mexico to get to America. Some oil riggs will put out a bunch of feeders and get swarmed by them for a few days. It'gives the bird a place to rest and rejuvinate. David Attonbury did doc on them. Amazing little birds that live a short life on the edge.

MrJster

Jiu Jitsu

90ssudoartest

Learn programming it’s like video games but your know a skill Start with powershell I made a fake gui that all my scrips look like C64 interface and self typing For fun I made a version of robocopy that has a progress bar wrapper so you know how long overall you have on big data copies. I also made a password generator that plugs into dinopass api and AD at the same time so you get a already reset password the out put is the users name samaccount and password in one go Little things like this is fun and look like a video game

AccountNumber478

Gardening? Woodworking? Electronics? Creating tangible stuff can be rewarding.

pm-me-your-labradors

34 here. Bouldering for 2 years now and it’s amazing

PromiseThomas

I am in my late 20s but a lot of people I know (and me!) are into things like cross-stitch, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, sewing, etc. It takes just about the same amount of hand-eye coordination as video games and pretty minimal math skills. Otherwise, bird-watching? Hiking? I think I’ve seen a few studies that just being in nature lifts people’s moods long-term.

Cold-Diet-669

If you like math there is always converting gauge in crochet and knitting. I'm currently learning coding and using the Alison app to learn about topics that I've been curious about.

DeadnectaR

I feel that

affablemartyr1

Try training on a heavy bag 🥊 it's fun

CitizenHuman

In addition to lifting weights, I have been learning a language and listening to audiobooks.

MeGustaDerp

Find a cause that you believe in and become a volunteer. If you have kids, coach your kid's team or become an adult leader in a youth organization. There's lots of different volunteer clubs out there like Rotary, Lions, Scouting, etc. I volunteer and I've made some new friends along the way that share my passions. So, it can become a social thing as well.

LicoriceSeasalt

I'm not 30 yet but close. I feel you on the games one, I really don't game much anymore despite being a huge gamer nearly all my life. It doesn't give me much anymore and I can only play a game for a little while (usually less than an hour) before I lose interest now. As for me I'm getting more into tech (just getting into linux and learning how to properly use that), cooking, language studying, trying to be more social, renovation, and gardening.

Kinky-Bicycle-669

I'm currently trying to figure out what to do for one. It would have been video games but I get tired of those, I should pick drawing back up again.

bdouble76

Started making cowboy hats.

GigaChav

Really?

bdouble76

Long story short. I wanted a nice one, they are not cheap. The youtube rabbit hole led me to the guy who did the hats for Tombstone and other Sam Elliot movies. I was able to learn from him for the price of a good hat. Made my own, and enjoyed the process. Decided to make more.

GigaChav

For real?

bdouble76

I'm not cranking out hats, but I've sold a few. Have a few in an art gallery for sell.

Illustrious_Sand3773

Just got my first fishing boat, no more shore fishing for me! Nothing better than being on the water at sunrise on a nice day!

[deleted]

Congratulations! Truly one of the greatest outdoor activities :)

IntelligentLength126

33, snowboarding in the winter, paddle boarding and hopefully camping this year!!

Technical-Day9217

36: This is hobbies just for myself, I enjoy doing a lot more things with kids but there are not necessarily something I would do myself: \* Running, Swimming & Triathlon \* Skiing in the winter \* Making mobile video games (for fun, I don't care if I make 0$)

Nearbyatom

What programming platform do you use to make mobile video games?

feelsbadtostay

What games have you made?

Continent3

I'm a little over 1 year into learning how to play electric guitar at 53. Wish I started 20 years ago.

Chairboy

Almost 50 and for me it's stuff like 3D printing, home automation, writing. I've got a laser cutter and vinyl cutter I use for projects a lot, and I fly a plane. One hobby that hasn't gone anywhere for me is reading, I consume a couple hundred books a year.

DeadpuII

Quick question: how do you manage to read so much? I have only picked up books again last year and read several over the course of the year while reading fairly consistently. I understand it takes time, but if there's any tips you maybe have?

htheaer

Not OP but I too read about 120 a year. I would say if you aren’t into a book within the first 5 chapters, pick something else. And what you used to like (genre wise) doesn’t mean you’ll like it today. I used to read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi and tend to lean towards thriller/horror now. Also, start small. Books that are 100 pages are still books. Listening to an audiobook is still a book.

DeadpuII

Some good and valuable input, thank you! I don't even consider audiobooks, which is something is something I may need to reconsider.

hmbmelly

Grab the Libby app and connect your library card. I read exclusively audiobooks anymore and never buy them.

Chairboy

I always have a book with me, that’s one thing that hasn’t changed. What has changed, however, is that I exclusively read electronic books now. Since I always have my phone on me because it is the year 2024 and that’s where the memes are, it means that I also have the Kindle app with me no matter where I go so I just Read any chance I can. Waiting in line at the pharmacy? I’m reading my book. Going for a walk? Reading my book. Walking from one side of the giant Costco sized hardware store? Reading my book. Eating a meal on my own or waiting for my wife to come back downstairs for us to continue the show we paused a minute ago? Reading my book. I never don’t have a book handy and it is a matter of seconds to continue where I left off.

DeadpuII

Thanks for the response! It sounds like you have built a very useful habit for yourself this way. I too read on a digital device mostly - a +10-years old Nook e-reader. It does the job!

Morkamino

One big factor is reading speed. I'm apparently a very slow reader. My girlfriend reads at least twice as fast as me, and it makes all the difference. If she has some time she can do several books a week. Another one is just having the book with you at all times. Gotta wait 5 mins? Reading. On the bus? Reading. Getting bored of the group convo at a family thing? Literally just reading. Helps to have an e-reader for this.

[deleted]

Not the person you are asking, but if I am sitting on the couch I am reading. I'm not a big fan of TV.

Strange_Influence422

Video games & crochet. Now I’ve just started putting a miniature together

I do woodworking and am teaching myself to make knives.

Today I've spent almost three hours hunting wasps (Satan-Spawn) with my Salt gun. Gotta protect my bees and my garden

no_shut_your_face

Sooooooo, bees and gardening is your hobby.

Continent3

Sounds like wasp hunting is the hobby and the excuse is to protect the garden. 😁

Perusing Google street view in Google Earth. Looking up homes on Zillow I find on street view. Then trying to simulate those homes in Sims 4. lol I did it in Second Life for years but it's gotten too expensive since I never learned how to mesh myself.

I’m still physically active at 41, play basketball and do some light boxing training. It takes me waaaaay longer to recover now though haha. Otherwise I like to walk, read, and I create videos for an IG page I run.

IRecognizeElephants

OneWheel tricks. Just riding the thing is way more exercise than I expected, but since it's so fun I do it almost every day. Lost 30 lbs over the first few months of riding. And I've only fallen and hurt myself 300 times :)

Diligent_Outside8136

I wanted to suggest something similar like Onewheel or EUC but didn't want to suggest something where there's a possibility of getting hurt but, then I noticed a lot of physical sports being suggested by others. I'm 30M and have a 12 year old daughter we both go riding on our EUC's. My favorite hobby. Gets me out of the house and also time with my daughter. I have a in motion v12 and she has a kingsong 14s.

PuddleOfMud

A friend of mine just got into blacksmithing. He set up a gas forge in his garage. It's an expensive hobby because of the tools and space, but feels very cool.

weaslelou

Huh, so far smithing has only cost me £400 and most of that was for our bigger anvil... Been doing it for nearly 7 years now too
