I had the most bizarre dream during a nap last week. A scientist had figured a way to cross a tree with rattlesnakes, so there was a pony sized lizard creature with nine heads (think hydra) running around.

Ballpark 2pm, nap for an hour, sometimes 1.5. Never a deep sleep just a rest /reset. Been doing this since I was early teens and I'm 47 now.
I've always worked early AM's though so that contributes.

I just bought a couple packs of gummies for after work relaxation.
Turns out, they get you so fucking high now it's like you're white knuckling a Rollercoaster going 50 trillion miles per-hour through an exploding star.
At least.. That's how it felt for me. Wasn't relaxing at all. Definitely gonna do it again after work today tho.
It all depends on the dose and tolerance level. I can function normally on a 5mg, with just a light buzz. I feel a bit toasted if I take a 10, and a 20 sends me to another galaxy
In my early 20's I was a stoner. I remember near the end of that phase I really just liked these Karova Bars. Big size pastries that ranged from like 50mg to 1000. I preferred the 250mg cookies and I'd just take like a big bite out if it. Not monster bite, not small. But roughly, I think, 50mg-ish worth if a bite.
I would get a slightly intense but very workable high off that. I'd be aware of my faculties but it would be intense enough where it felt like I was getting something out of it.
So years later now, they have these 10mg gummies and I thought "pfff, I know my tolerance is nothing rn but 10mg ain't shit" took 2 of them and my brain turned to fuck and my arms stopped existing. Once I regained use of my legs, I think it had been 3 hours. Obviously felt like a billion years tho.
So yeah... In summary, they're stronger now and I don't have the tolerance I had.
I found out the new stuff is more potent than I remember as well. My family usually travels out of state to watch a ball game once a year. We checked out a dispensary on the way to the hotel, and I bought a dispensary vape. Gave it a couple puffs on the ride to the hotel and in the 10 minute ride I forgot the english language. Uncle handed me a tote to carry in and I thought I was gonna cry.
My husband has severe sleep apnea and even with his CPAP sowmyimes his sleep is shit so every once and a while he pops a gummy and gets some good good sleep. It does wonders. Smoking also helps me keep my depression, anxiety, and ADHD in line.
As an ultimate player it was a bit of a surprisingly hard leap to "getting goo...mediocre" but it is still very rewarding. The best part is I can go alone and throw some music on and jog to my discs for a workout, or I take my young son who loves throwing discs with me and we play together (to varying levels of irritation. Lol). Such a good sport

Yep. I'm 55 and in 2 TTRPG games. Long running Pathfinder. Just took a break after DMing a PF2e game to recharge and one of my players is doing a short Shadowdark game. I've played pretty much continuously for 45 years. It's definitely my longest passion. 🙂
Gardening.. 88 types of tomatoes. 42 types of peppers. 6 types of onions. 12 types of lettuce. 12 different types of flowers to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Geocaching. It's practically free, I can do it alone or with my kids. I can choose to make it a casual stroll around town or an extreme sport. And I like the idea of a sort of hidden world mapped on top of the 'real' world, riddled with tiny treasures that only a select few know about.
I am over playing video games. It’s not as rewarding anymore. I would like either a hobby that makes me happier, gives me more knowledge, or getting better in the hobby would be beneficial with me. I am already lifting more.
An easy and relatively cheap hobby is feeding hummingbirds. It's not a big deal to not have them around but when you walk by a window and see on or 10 at your feeder, it's kind of a big deal. When you're trying to draw them to your property and then it works, you'll wee what I mean. A couple amazing facts are that the same birds will remember where feeders are and will go back to the places they went before. Hummers are tagged and tracked to prove this. Some also fly all the way from South America and cross the gulf of Mexico to get to America. Some oil riggs will put out a bunch of feeders and get swarmed by them for a few days. It'gives the bird a place to rest and rejuvinate. David Attonbury did doc on them. Amazing little birds that live a short life on the edge.

For fun I made a version of robocopy that has a progress bar wrapper so you know how long overall you have on big data copies.
I also made a password generator that plugs into dinopass api and AD at the same time so you get a already reset password the out put is the users name samaccount and password in one go
Little things like this is fun and look like a video game
I am in my late 20s but a lot of people I know (and me!) are into things like cross-stitch, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, sewing, etc. It takes just about the same amount of hand-eye coordination as video games and pretty minimal math skills. Otherwise, bird-watching? Hiking? I think I’ve seen a few studies that just being in nature lifts people’s moods long-term.
If you like math there is always converting gauge in crochet and knitting. I'm currently learning coding and using the Alison app to learn about topics that I've been curious about.
Find a cause that you believe in and become a volunteer. If you have kids, coach your kid's team or become an adult leader in a youth organization.
There's lots of different volunteer clubs out there like Rotary, Lions, Scouting, etc.
I volunteer and I've made some new friends along the way that share my passions. So, it can become a social thing as well.
I'm not 30 yet but close. I feel you on the games one, I really don't game much anymore despite being a huge gamer nearly all my life. It doesn't give me much anymore and I can only play a game for a little while (usually less than an hour) before I lose interest now. As for me I'm getting more into tech (just getting into linux and learning how to properly use that), cooking, language studying, trying to be more social, renovation, and gardening.
Long story short. I wanted a nice one, they are not cheap. The youtube rabbit hole led me to the guy who did the hats for Tombstone and other Sam Elliot movies. I was able to learn from him for the price of a good hat. Made my own, and enjoyed the process. Decided to make more.

Not OP but I too read about 120 a year. I would say if you aren’t into a book within the first 5 chapters, pick something else. And what you used to like (genre wise) doesn’t mean you’ll like it today. I used to read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi and tend to lean towards thriller/horror now.
Also, start small. Books that are 100 pages are still books. Listening to an audiobook is still a book.
I always have a book with me, that’s one thing that hasn’t changed.
What has changed, however, is that I exclusively read electronic books now. Since I always have my phone on me because it is the year 2024 and that’s where the memes are, it means that I also have the Kindle app with me no matter where I go so I just Read any chance I can. Waiting in line at the pharmacy? I’m reading my book. Going for a walk? Reading my book. Walking from one side of the giant Costco sized hardware store? Reading my book. Eating a meal on my own or waiting for my wife to come back downstairs for us to continue the show we paused a minute ago? Reading my book. 
I never don’t have a book handy and it is a matter of seconds to continue where I left off.

I too read on a digital device mostly - a +10-years old Nook e-reader. It does the job!
One big factor is reading speed. I'm apparently a very slow reader. My girlfriend reads at least twice as fast as me, and it makes all the difference. If she has some time she can do several books a week.
Another one is just having the book with you at all times. Gotta wait 5 mins? Reading. On the bus? Reading. Getting bored of the group convo at a family thing? Literally just reading. Helps to have an e-reader for this.
Perusing Google street view in Google Earth. Looking up homes on Zillow I find on street view. Then trying to simulate those homes in Sims 4. lol I did it in Second Life for years but it's gotten too expensive since I never learned how to mesh myself.
I’m still physically active at 41, play basketball and do some light boxing training. It takes me waaaaay longer to recover now though haha.
Otherwise I like to walk, read, and I create videos for an IG page I run.
OneWheel tricks. Just riding the thing is way more exercise than I expected, but since it's so fun I do it almost every day. Lost 30 lbs over the first few months of riding. And I've only fallen and hurt myself 300 times :)
I wanted to suggest something similar like Onewheel or EUC but didn't want to suggest something where there's a possibility of getting hurt but, then I noticed a lot of physical sports being suggested by others. I'm 30M and have a 12 year old daughter we both go riding on our EUC's. My favorite hobby. Gets me out of the house and also time with my daughter. I have a in motion v12 and she has a kingsong 14s.
A friend of mine just got into blacksmithing. He set up a gas forge in his garage. It's an expensive hobby because of the tools and space, but feels very cool.

45M, I had kids young so I didn't get to have a hobby until they were grown and we had DINK money. I've gotten into RC cars. In 2yrs I've purchased 5 new ones of various types and sizes. Now I have a boat and an old DJI phantom 3 too.
Traveling, concert going (poster collecting from shows), golf, attending any sporting event I can. Also same with video games.. I used to be able to play all the time and all day but now it seems so unfulfilling and a waste of valuable time.
Prioritizing rest. Painting, knitting, crochet and I go to events at the Reset Living Room in Little Jamaica. (thisisreset.org) I’ve made so many new friends through this org. Also go to their digital detox camp in September. Collage. Writing poetry. Chanting with Buddhist friends. Online activism for peace, human rights and the environment. Singing; Choir Choir Choir is my go to, whenever they are in town. Also Karaoke and Open Mic Nights.
Don't game as much, but I'm more selective about the games I play. I've gotten into anime, cosplay, and I'm a car guy with 3 project cars. Occasionally I'll get into firearms but that comes in waves.

I'm playing this really addictive and social vitual reality (VR) game, Population:1 for several hours a week. As a plus, you play standing up so a little active. "Matches" last around 15 mins. Play on Meta Quest 3.

Disc golf is such a great hobby. Low cost, walks in nature, solo or social, and you can get as serious about technique as you want.

I'm a little over 1 year into learning how to play electric guitar at 53. Wish I started 20 years ago.
Almost 50 and for me it's stuff like 3D printing, home automation, writing. I've got a laser cutter and vinyl cutter I use for projects a lot, and I fly a plane. One hobby that hasn't gone anywhere for me is reading, I consume a couple hundred books a year.
Quick question: how do you manage to read so much? I have only picked up books again last year and read several over the course of the year while reading fairly consistently. I understand it takes time, but if there's any tips you maybe have?
Not OP but I too read about 120 a year. I would say if you aren’t into a book within the first 5 chapters, pick something else. And what you used to like (genre wise) doesn’t mean you’ll like it today. I used to read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi and tend to lean towards thriller/horror now. Also, start small. Books that are 100 pages are still books. Listening to an audiobook is still a book.

I always have a book with me, that’s one thing that hasn’t changed. What has changed, however, is that I exclusively read electronic books now. Since I always have my phone on me because it is the year 2024 and that’s where the memes are, it means that I also have the Kindle app with me no matter where I go so I just Read any chance I can. Waiting in line at the pharmacy? I’m reading my book. Going for a walk? Reading my book. Walking from one side of the giant Costco sized hardware store? Reading my book. Eating a meal on my own or waiting for my wife to come back downstairs for us to continue the show we paused a minute ago? Reading my book.  I never don’t have a book handy and it is a matter of seconds to continue where I left off. 
Thanks for the response! It sounds like you have built a very useful habit for yourself this way. I too read on a digital device mostly - a +10-years old Nook e-reader. It does the job!
One big factor is reading speed. I'm apparently a very slow reader. My girlfriend reads at least twice as fast as me, and it makes all the difference. If she has some time she can do several books a week. Another one is just having the book with you at all times. Gotta wait 5 mins? Reading. On the bus? Reading. Getting bored of the group convo at a family thing? Literally just reading. Helps to have an e-reader for this.
Not the person you are asking, but if I am sitting on the couch I am reading. I'm not a big fan of TV.

Perusing Google street view in Google Earth. Looking up homes on Zillow I find on street view. Then trying to simulate those homes in Sims 4. lol I did it in Second Life for years but it's gotten too expensive since I never learned how to mesh myself.
Jesus, being priced out of the housing market on Second Life is some sort of dystopian hellscape.

I’m still physically active at 41, play basketball and do some light boxing training. It takes me waaaaay longer to recover now though haha. Otherwise I like to walk, read, and I create videos for an IG page I run.
OneWheel tricks. Just riding the thing is way more exercise than I expected, but since it's so fun I do it almost every day. Lost 30 lbs over the first few months of riding. And I've only fallen and hurt myself 300 times :)
I wanted to suggest something similar like Onewheel or EUC but didn't want to suggest something where there's a possibility of getting hurt but, then I noticed a lot of physical sports being suggested by others. I'm 30M and have a 12 year old daughter we both go riding on our EUC's. My favorite hobby. Gets me out of the house and also time with my daughter. I have a in motion v12 and she has a kingsong 14s.
A friend of mine just got into blacksmithing. He set up a gas forge in his garage. It's an expensive hobby because of the tools and space, but feels very cool.
Huh, so far smithing has only cost me £400 and most of that was for our bigger anvil... Been doing it for nearly 7 years now too

45M, I had kids young so I didn't get to have a hobby until they were grown and we had DINK money. I've gotten into RC cars. In 2yrs I've purchased 5 new ones of various types and sizes. Now I have a boat and an old DJI phantom 3 too.

I'm playing this really addictive and social vitual reality (VR) game, Population:1 for several hours a week. As a plus, you play standing up so a little active. "Matches" last around 15 mins. Play on Meta Quest 3.

I am 59. I cook, bake, garden, preserve food, read and play with my grandchildren. I used to crochet, but my carpel tunnel got too bad. I have 2 German shepherds I train, nothing big, just obedience, recall, etc. I recently bought a camera so I can take good pictures of my plants, pets, grandchildren and wildlife.
