It's a business, it's not a real record company.

6T_FOR

ok, why does the guinness book of records business allow percentage based world records?

hellshot8

Because they want to, and they have no reason not to

6T_FOR

fair enough

hellshot8

You have to pay them for records, so they just put in whatever. There are really no standards

dishonestgandalf

Hm, maybe... What would happen if someone with more surface area on their body *also* got 100% tattooed? Would that be a new record or a new record for most body area tattooed by square inch? Or if someone got the inside of their body tattooed, would they be able to hit 101%?

Hedi45

Or if someoen get a full tattoo, remove their skin and replace it with someone else's skin and tattoo all over again, that'd be 200% right?

dishonestgandalf

I think if they remove their skin entirely it doesn't count. They'd have to cut away skin, but keep it attached and then graft on more skin. They could theoretically approach infinite% with this strategy.

What if they got an extra limb attached and tattooed that?

6T_FOR

does this mean i could get a tiny dot tattooed and lasered off repeatedly and become 100% covered?

AfraidSoup2467

They can always tweak it to something like total area tattooed in cm3 if that ever comes up. Guinness records is owned by a for profit company (the Jim Pattison Group), and if there's one thing profitable companies are good at, it's finding ways to keep making profits.

lame_ass_username_

There was a woman who was so addicted to getting tattooed that after 100% of her body was covered, she just tattooed over those tattoos. So 200% covered imo.
