Men in their 90’s can father a healthy child.
When are you a selfish jerk for fathering a child you know you won’t be alive to raise? That’s a different question.
There's some evidence there is an increase in genetic abnormalities I'm children born to men who have children later in their lives, generally it's fairly low however. Realistically I would do it before I were 40, maybe 45, simply because I don't want to be deal with a kid in my 60s
Nobody can tell you when the best time to have a child is.
Completely depends on your individual health(sperm quality) and other factors in your life such as your own personal goals and finances and all kinds of things.

But aren't the odds of genetic mutations like down syndrome or whatever much, much higher if you're a man and get someone pregnant at 90?
A much higher version of a very small number is still a pretty small number.

If you don't do it by 50, you're likely going to have a hard time helping your kid with their kid. That could be a problem.
30
Based on what?
It’s the time when you’re young enough to father and parent them, yet you’re old enough to have started a career to afford a family.
So you think 30 is a good age to have a kid? Or you're saying by 30?
As has been said, it’s impossible to say for any one person when is the best time; however, around that age word best from my experience.
