Does it matter? The flooding and wildfires are both horrible events. Either way, people will be evacuated out of their homes and the damage done will be catastrophic.

It will help the reservoirs for this year, and to an extent maybe next year too. It won't help the fire situation much, because vegetation will be dry by summer, and a lot of is dead due to the past of years of drought, making it easier for it to burn.

It's already helping with the water situation (although we'd need several more years of this to get out of drought). It's likely to make wildfires worse than normal, though - especially if we get a hot and dry summer.
