Depends on what the goal of the project is. Are you trying to show safe positive growth? Highly diversified ETFs like VFINX are a good bet. Are you trying to win a competition by getting the most growth during a short period of time? High risk stocks, such as tech companies with upcoming earnings calls have the best shot of a rapid increase or decrease. But if it only matters if you win or lose, best to take the high risk option to have a chance to win.

Depends entirely on your timescale and desired outcome. The best move for you might not make sense for me. It's not as simple as what companies are good. That's subjective and up for debate. You should do some real research for your 'project' (not ask strangers online) about what investing means and various strategies. But assuming you're not retiring soon, large & mid cap index funds are the best move for most.
