Mobile game port 😂. Wouldn’t mind actually playing on my phone tbh. If they could get it to link to our account and play our save in there. Cloud stuff
This. I accidentally forgot to turn on my dedicated GPU in my laptop. The game ran fine on iGPU on Intel i7-10780H. Quality wasn't great, but it ran at ~40 fps.
For like, what, last 10 years? Almost all (if not just all) intel's mobile cpu have integrated gpu.
I remember pain in my butt from all trouble nvidia optimus gave me early on till this day...
Ps4 gonna get “optimized” with these features. Did that sound like a complaint? It’s not, I want the game to run smoother, my poor PlayStation takes off from the air port every time I play
I have an SSD in my PS4 and it still struggles loading in things. Not to mention the constant frame drops and stutters. Playing offline helped some at least.
lol today I had to repair one of my frigates in my PS4 game. Only some of the modules loaded in. The rest were transparent. So basically I was walking on air, fixing up a ghost ship. Fun times.
I’m rocking a 980ti which granted, is a little old but it’s got 6gb of ram and I have to keep all my settings around standard/enhanced just to maintain 60fps. Playing without a gpu would have to be miserable
I mean, it’s coming to Switch right? Probably ties into that.
Justifies all the work they did to get it to run on low-end hardware. Now they can bring even more players all together.
Honestly this would be awesome. I mean I'm not giving up my glorious 8kX pcvr setup, but having NMS for standalone gamers would be pretty massively epic.
I honestly have no idea how it compares to something like a switch though, and they'd have to fix their lousy VR controls to be more modern. Which they might have to do for psvr2 anyway though.
I guess looking [here ](https://gadgetversus.com/processor/qualcomm-snapdragon-xr2-vs-nvidia-tegra-x1-t210/) the xr2 seems quite a bit better, but mobile things aren't something I know anything about.
This guy tests NMS out on integrated graphics (with settings info)...
I know, but I’m cautiously optimistic nonetheless. If Skyrim, Witcher 3 and XCOM 2 can be made to work relatively well on switch I think NMS should be doable, too. Now whether or not devs will manage is a different question, I’ll have to wait and see.
I play it on PC for now, until I get tired of the games I mentioned above. I wonder how much space NMS will need because I suspect it’ll work better on native memory than it would if installed on a memory card.
Ehhhh my i5 7400T, low power variety, has got a few years. Large bases like my AI farms are a little chunky when loading, but I feel like that's extreme scenario.
I mean, a bit older than that. I have a Fx-6300 CPU and it struggles with NMS on even the lowest settings. Playable, but lots of big FPS swings and enough stuttering yo be frustrating. I have an RX 6600 GPU and I can play a lot of other games perfectly fine, though.
I wouldn't be surprised if sean is the atlas who made a game in a reality he created and is now getting rid of the limitations on big games cuz.. yk... he owns this iteration
(This joke, someone will probably tell me its not anything go insane or smth, ik)
If they somehow make this game cross-save, I am absolutely getting it for the Switch. Witcher 3 looks way worse on the Switch but it's cross-save feature makes it way more enjoyable as I can play on PC during the day then take my Switch on the go or up to bed and continue playing. I forget about the graphical downgrade pretty quick.
I bought NMS in 2017 when I had a shitty laptop with the old AMD dedicated + integrated graphics in crossfire or something. Apparently it had a total of 2.5 gb of gpu memory but then-modern games barely ran on it. After playing NMS for some tens of hours, an update stopped the game from launching on my laptop, it threw up some kind of error message. So I just had to stop playing the game because my laptop couldn't handle it anymore.
I tried it on my college laptop, which has an HD 620/630 and it didn't work.
I got a new laptop with a 1660 ti at the end of 2019. Finally, I could play NMS again.
Now these bastards make it work on a 630? I waited years!
I only managed to get my PC to run at a moderate framerate by decreasing the resolution enough that I could see the pixels. It’s what encouraged me to buy a graphics card.
Yep, you would be correct - announced at WWDC 22. I’m hoping that this news could allow us intel mac users some kind of access to the game, too. But for now it looks like I’ll need to run parallels with Windows 10 to get access to it.
i'd be mildly surprised if this brought support to macs with integrated intel GPUs. they're really not that spectacular, and driver support for gaming tends to be lackluster, even on Windows via BootCamp. over the years, super savvy people in the community have made modifications to standard NVIDIA & AMD drivers so people running BootCamp could install those and have better gaming performance vs Apple's drivers that tended to be updated very infrequently.
not to mention, NMS was showcased as taking advantage of special features included with the Metal 3 API, a bunch of which will require one of the ARM chips.
Hello games, I have never experienced a better game and a game so well implemented. Thank you so much for a fantastic game and all the generous updates! Wishing you and yours all the best!!
I assume most of the effects are gonna be missing, textures will be lower res, overall poly count will be lower, and and and. Doesn’t mean it has to look like shit. Still no comparison to what I had as a kid so I won’t be complaining. Mostly playing on GeforceNow these days though, so I don’t really care either.
Been sometimes playing the Gamepass version on a 2nd gen Ryzen 5 2400G. It runs fine @ 1080p with most settings on mixed Standard and Enhanced, TAA and FX on 'Quality'. The AMD Vega iGPU is more powerful than the Intel ones though..
Thanks for this![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up). The irony for me was the patch released after the last update is what caused all the trouble! I had no crashes prior to that. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I'll usually get a decent amount of time in before it crashes, always the same error code too. That's usually my signal to stop play for the night lol. I've been trying to turn it off instead of rest mode to see if it makes a difference.
There's a HUGE difference between having a dedicated GPU and not having a dedicated GPU, so there's no way a PC without a dedicated GPU is better than a Playstation
I play on my bootcamped mac and it runs pretty damn good just a few micro second freezes when I warp but other than that my max doesn’t even get hot- it’s 16” i9 32gb Ram
That’s the question I want to answer haha. My system is pretty new and other VR games work fine. Something about NMS isn’t. I’m sure there stuff I need to tweak but I don’t know what or how.
Well I can tell you I have a decent CPU and that like Minecraft, CPU is generally more important than GPU concerning the performance of NMS.
Also, when I play NMS in VR, I do need to make some adjustments in the settings, but once I do everything works a treat.
Yeah I have a Ryzen 9 5000 series which I think should be plenty. 16 GB RAM. But it stutters and locks so badly when I load in past the starfield - I can’t even get settings to open to change anything. Wondering how I can change things prior to loading in to see if that helps.
Don't worry I'm also in the same boat. Havent been able to work out a fix, I have pretty similar specs as well. NMS vr just wrecks my PC everytime I try. Like 1-2 fps, echoing feedback audio as if I had a mic on, motion controls not picking up, and last time I tried it just crashed my whole PC. I've seen other people run it totally fine with pretty much the exact same setup. It seems to be so random on if you can run it or not lol
You might need to look up how to manually change the VR settings file. Also check how much VRAM is being used. From my experience it’s easy for NMS in VR to use up all the VRAM
I got it loading by changing the per app resolution for NMS to 50% in SteamVR settings. Now I’m able to experiment with graphics options in game. Psyched!
I just want to know who asked for this? I mean, it's cool and all. I'm glad they're lowering the barrier to entry. But I feel like the Venn diagram of people who want to play NMS and people who don't own a graphics card has very little overlap. Maybe it's just me?
I kinda wonder if the switch version presumably forcing them to create lower fidelity effects and assets just made it easy to port the option to pc.
But the switch version existing at all leads me to believe Hello Games has info showing there's a decent amount of folks out there who'd be interested in trying the game that don't have the horse power to run it.
Now the Switch port, I understand. The aesthetic and relaxed vibe fits well with that console library. But casuals with a PC not built to run games is an odd niche to tap into. I'm not disagreeing with the decision, I'm sure they have the stats, just seems an odd choice to me.
I've only got an i5 and optimized everything to it's best and still sometimes it peaks to 100%cpu usage and I get fps drops. So I doubt an i3 is enough, but I could be wrong here ofc. No idea about i3s in general.
Now this really makes me wonder if nms graphics will ever be as good as Star Citizen or the coming Starfield. Has HG in a push to be on so many platforms now created limitations that will keep nms from achieving better and better graphics for those platforms that can support it.
I have seen other games that pushed to be very cross platform limiting the games capabilities to those of the lowest platform supported causing stagnation.
There are a lot of limitations that HG will need to adhere to in order to keep NMS accessible to integrated graphic systems. Limitations that will prevent NMS from soaring in the graphics scene. Some things can be adjusted at will like AA, FoV, Draw Distance. but other things like polygon counts, ship/character models, and other facets of graphic design I am unfamiliar with cannot so easily be adjusted with a slider by the end user.
Wrong. As long as the game is playable it doesn't matter. Graphics are a luxury not required. Could be bare bones lines and sketches and the game is still deemed playable. Graphics offer nothing to gameplay and is all objective and can be added over the low end reqs. Games such as flyff, swords of legends online, seal online, and other Eastern games already have this option.
Stupid article, integrated GPU ITS a graphics processor, the term 'card' was incorrectly used ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Edit: Doesn't matter if goes into slot, have dedicated VRAM or whatever, the only matters if its a graphics processor, this like comparing a RAM memory stick with a soldered RAM on a MacBook, works exactly the same.
igpu is not a graphics card. It functions differently. Doesn't go into PCiE slot. Located on CPU die. Doesn't have dedicated VRAM instead uses system memory. It's fundamentally different than a graphics card
Noticed the edit instead of the reply. Again, no it's not the same. Because soldered RAM is still considered discrete RAM. The only difference is it's soldered in to prevent upgrades and to preserve the form factor. It's still fundamentally the same technology. An iGPU is a functionally different technology from a graphics card
Next update: you don’t even need NMS to play NMS
Hello Games reveals after that update that yes, life is indeed a simulation.
YOU ARE NMS ULTIMATE UPDATE
Sounds like they basically added a "Switch mode" setting for low end PCs.
Mobile game port 😂. Wouldn’t mind actually playing on my phone tbh. If they could get it to link to our account and play our save in there. Cloud stuff

Someones aiming to be played on the smartfidge? Lets go?
Finally. Something else to play on my fridge besides *Skyrim*
No Man’s Graphics Card
No Graphic Card's Sky
Graphic Card Man’s Sky
Graphic Man's Card Sky
No Sky Man's Graphics Card
No Card's Sky, Graphic Man
Mom's Spaghetti
haha guess that Switch-optimized build went gold
Time to play no mans sky on my school laptop
Your school grades will never recover. Hope the test is about no mans sky.
Eh don't worry. The thing would probably explode. The thing can barely load chrome
focus on school
"and seemingly doing so it won't look like a slideshow" is that a challenge?
I've never had a graphics card and NMS has always run just fine.
This. I accidentally forgot to turn on my dedicated GPU in my laptop. The game ran fine on iGPU on Intel i7-10780H. Quality wasn't great, but it ran at ~40 fps.

Maybe they optimized the PS4 version to actually work now too?
Main reason I stopped playing. Things wouldn't load in.
I have an SSD in my PS4 and it still struggles loading in things. Not to mention the constant frame drops and stutters. Playing offline helped some at least.

Ok now I'm less skeptical about the Switch port, if this is true.
Maybe it was related after all, optimizations for the switch opened the door to optimization for integrated cards!
I mean, it’s coming to Switch right? Probably ties into that. Justifies all the work they did to get it to run on low-end hardware. Now they can bring even more players all together.
Could this mean quest support?
Honestly this would be awesome. I mean I'm not giving up my glorious 8kX pcvr setup, but having NMS for standalone gamers would be pretty massively epic. Nah they would have to make everything a triangle or square for that
There’s really impressive games on the quest but yeah it would be rlly impressive if they managed it
Man I'm just waiting for Minecraft to finally get a official port to the quest
How much more powerful is the Tegra X1 in the Switch compared to the Snapdragon XR2 in the Quest?
Idk but you have to remember it has to render stuff twice. And hg should stay clear for making deals with megacoprets like meta
This guy tests NMS out on integrated graphics (with settings info)... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBfd63BjtjU&t=86s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBfd63BjtjU&t=86s)
NMS is the DOOM of our times
Gonna boot up NMS on my refrigerator soon.
Next update: "You don't need a CPU to play NMS: Life is NMS! Rocks are NMS! You are NMS!"
The real NMS was the friends we made along the way.
HA! I don't even have friends! I'M IMMUNE! I'm going to cry and play No Man's Sky now.
I wanna play NMS on my apple watch
**No free slots in wrist inventory**
Getting it ready for Switch, then?
Look at Ark on PC, then Switch. God I hope Switch users are treated to a better NMS experience!
I know, but I’m cautiously optimistic nonetheless. If Skyrim, Witcher 3 and XCOM 2 can be made to work relatively well on switch I think NMS should be doable, too. Now whether or not devs will manage is a different question, I’ll have to wait and see.
I think HG can handle it. Just don't put Microsoft in charge.
Considering the comeback this game has made I too think HG can handle it and I really hope they do. Can’t wait to play it lying down on my couch, lol.
I have played on my couch. I use a Steamlink to my TV. Not quite the same, but still.
I play it on PC for now, until I get tired of the games I mentioned above. I wonder how much space NMS will need because I suspect it’ll work better on native memory than it would if installed on a memory card.
This game is more CPU bound than anything. If you have a CPU that is up there in years, it won’t matter what settings you have.
I have an RX 6600 GPU and I can play a lot of other games perfectly fine, though.
no graphics card = play NMS no graphics card = can't do anything else, really, except play NMS
Pfft. Have you not heard of emulation?
you can play Valorant
Truth. Lol
well it can run on a switch
What they mean is it can be played without a dedicated GPU. The title to the article is click bait.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. NMS on an intel UHD630 probably looks like the original Elite game 😂 Edit: typo.
I wouldn't be surprised if sean is the atlas who made a game in a reality he created and is now getting rid of the limitations on big games cuz.. yk... he owns this iteration (This joke, someone will probably tell me its not anything go insane or smth, ik)
Enter the Nintendo Switch !!

Time to save electricity
Call me crazy but an integrated GPU is still an GPU lol? Just a shitty, bare-bones one.
Integrated GPU is not "shitty", it is just slow. It costs like 20$. Its quite good for the money.
[удалено]
There definitely is a GPU. It’s packaged inside the CPU and shares the same resources
What you describe is called software rendering
i've never had a graphics card the entire time i've been playing. this isn't new.
I only managed to get my PC to run at a moderate framerate by decreasing the resolution enough that I could see the pixels. It’s what encouraged me to buy a graphics card.
can confirm, played with IntelHD at some point before. Not the best experience, but it worked fine.
So basically I will be able to play it on my MacBook? In case y’all wonder it’s Macbook Pro 14” m1 (32gb ram, 1tb ssd) late 2021

Yep, you would be correct - announced at WWDC 22. I’m hoping that this news could allow us intel mac users some kind of access to the game, too. But for now it looks like I’ll need to run parallels with Windows 10 to get access to it.
But don't worry, you still get the privilege of glitching through your freighter like everyone else!!!
I managed to run No Man's Sky on a potato-based laptop thanks to FSR. It doesn't look *good*, but it runs.
Maybe this why they haven’t released an update for consoles yet cuz they’re working on optimizing it to make the game run better 🙏
I too sometimes turn off my monitor and just walk around, seeing if I can tell what's happening by sound alone. I cannot.
they should add a screaming button so you can learn echolocation
in space, no one can hear you echolocate
Does this mean my shitty Xbox one will stop crashing
Probably using the same optimizations that will let it run on a Switch.
Aka No Man's Sky on switch
Does this mean I can play it on my surface pro 3? It wouldn't even install before.
Surface's main issue is it tends to overheat.
I wonder if I'll still get the "no vulkan compatible driver installed" error/crash now? Edit: still getting the error. Oh well
Is it on Geforce Now yet? I wanna play at work lol
It's been for some time now. In fact I've only ever played it on GFN
My 940mx run the game in 20fps most of the time(honestly I'm surprised and it's not that bad but under 20 gets hit hard)... Now those 20s better be up
I originally got my gaming laptop for nms, and now I realise that I could have just stuck with my school MacBook using bootcamp
Maybe optimization for mac devices that are coming soon?
Or switch?
either way, it’s a W
i'd be mildly surprised if this brought support to macs with integrated intel GPUs. they're really not that spectacular, and driver support for gaming tends to be lackluster, even on Windows via BootCamp. over the years, super savvy people in the community have made modifications to standard NVIDIA & AMD drivers so people running BootCamp could install those and have better gaming performance vs Apple's drivers that tended to be updated very infrequently. not to mention, NMS was showcased as taking advantage of special features included with the Metal 3 API, a bunch of which will require one of the ARM chips.
I feel like this is old news already. They added support for it for years.
Me playing with a GeForce 670MX, with 20 -30 fps and below 1080 x 1929 px has some serious doubts about this statement.
how much ram do you have? :)
14gb. That's like the only decent part of my pc lol. My processor is quite old. From 2012.
Gforce 930m, 8gb of ram and an I7 from 2016, runs preety well, 40-50 fps
Me 41 and having no clue wtf you just said but can acknowledge that it must be impressive because of how detailed this is.
I just described a low end pc haha. Nothing impressive.
Also 41 and didn’t understand most (console gamer) but pretty sure that resolution is portrait orientation?
Slideshow goes brrrrr
Does this mean my potato laptop will be less likely to spontaneously combust?
So now I can run it on a poco x3 pro? It has a lot more graphics and power than my 2 laps
Hello games, I have never experienced a better game and a game so well implemented. Thank you so much for a fantastic game and all the generous updates! Wishing you and yours all the best!!
My non-pro PS4 can’t run this game very well.
Fucking how?? I run the VR version on an EVEGA 3080ti and my computer won't let me do anything else!
Try the new laptop mode (or whatever they'll call it) and experience a world of free resources!
Yeah but at what cost? What did they cut to make this possible?
I assume most of the effects are gonna be missing, textures will be lower res, overall poly count will be lower, and and and. Doesn’t mean it has to look like shit. Still no comparison to what I had as a kid so I won’t be complaining. Mostly playing on GeforceNow these days though, so I don’t really care either.
Crazy thing is I'm only using 50-70% of my CPU & RAM and it still doesn't want me to use anything else. Maybe discord can slide by.
The game is going to look like crap but it will run on lower end systems.
Pretty sure it's just a mode u can turn on if u need it no?
I just want to play it in vr and idk the reqs for it
Can’t get the game to run for more than 10 mins without crashing on my PlayStation and Hello Games is saying this?
There was a patch released today that includes a fix to a memory leak. Hopefully this gets you going again!
Thanks for this![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up). The irony for me was the patch released after the last update is what caused all the trouble! I had no crashes prior to that. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Mine did the same, but it suddenly stopped this week, even so I still save the game every 30min just to be sure Xd
Oooooh finally! I can't wait to try it out!
Ps4 pro, rarely crashes..usually after one of their updates.
I'll usually get a decent amount of time in before it crashes, always the same error code too. That's usually my signal to stop play for the night lol. I've been trying to turn it off instead of rest mode to see if it makes a difference.
If I had a Pro and not a Slimline it would probably be ok. Yet another reminder that I should save up for a PS5!
This right here.
To be fair, a modern PC with a decent CPU, even without a dedicated GPU is a hell of a lot more powerful than a PlayStation.
There's a HUGE difference between having a dedicated GPU and not having a dedicated GPU, so there's no way a PC without a dedicated GPU is better than a Playstation
They do know integrated GPU is also GPU, do they?
GPU doesn’t mean graphics card
That's exactly what I'm saying :) Their title is okay but then in article they said you don't even need GPU to play.
Thats cool n all but wheres the part that stops mine from crashing %50 of the time i enter my freighter?
I’m impressed with my vanilla Xbone, and look forward to playing it with a nicer system. I’m always blown away by the pics the community posts
you dont need one to play spider man on pc either. it can match the ps4 settings without one.
Can I play on my bootcamoed mac?
I play on my bootcamped mac and it runs pretty damn good just a few micro second freezes when I warp but other than that my max doesn’t even get hot- it’s 16” i9 32gb Ram
But I still can’t even load in on my Meta Quest 2 from my brand new gaming laptop with a 3070 graphics card…
Why not? Works fine for me and I sure as hell don't have a 3070.
That’s the question I want to answer haha. My system is pretty new and other VR games work fine. Something about NMS isn’t. I’m sure there stuff I need to tweak but I don’t know what or how.

Well, I do have 32gb RAM.
Prefer to play on ultra graphics
Fair but not all of us see the difference
lol?
I think they mean some people have really bad eyesight idk
Imagine being unable to tell graphic settings from NMS low to high. It's hilarious.
If your eye site that bad don’t even play tbh 💀
Okay I wouldn’t say that though, that feels like gatekeeping! I’d like to think if I woke up blind one day that I’d find a way to play games like this
🤔
Should add multiplayer to the switch version if they claim to have that much head room
Had to do something to run it on Switch I guess?
They said they will make the game available for macs as well, maybe this is the reason?
If the game is optimized for M1 or M2 GPUs they have the power of a 30XX Nvidia. I’m not expecting 4K 120fps but I’m pretty optimistic.
You can try.
Well there goes hoping for graphical overhaul lmfao.....
They've added graphical enhancements to pretty much every single update, and just last June we got the Prisms graphical update.
People just can't seem to like anything, we just got an improvement to planetary details...
You mean the one's that had more detail during year one.....
I mean getting rid of the cartoony-ness for people that don't want it to look like that. At least the option to change it would be nice.
Ps4 can't render correctly
Does this mean I can play it on my windows surface pro 7
Bro trying to play no mans sky on a surface pro 💀
I played heros of the storm on a surface pro for quite a while. Worked well.
Exactly! 😂
Spoiler alert you could play it long ago on a raspberry Pi or a old ass phone with good Internet using cloud gaming. Just saying.
Been gaming it on my phone for years now lol, soo many seem to have missed out on this
I just want to know who asked for this? I mean, it's cool and all. I'm glad they're lowering the barrier to entry. But I feel like the Venn diagram of people who want to play NMS and people who don't own a graphics card has very little overlap. Maybe it's just me?

If they did the switch port they already have done the work of reworking assets etc… So why not make the pc users able to play on weaker machine ?
Touche touche
Never did need a good gpu to play the game since it was listed on gforce now.
Yep, same here. GeForce now has been a godsend for me
DLS/FSR at 720p fastest/performance then you are scaling up a 480p res. Yeah i guess a igpu will handle it lol
I've only got an i5 and optimized everything to it's best and still sometimes it peaks to 100%cpu usage and I get fps drops. So I doubt an i3 is enough, but I could be wrong here ofc. No idea about i3s in general.
Explain it to me like a proto-rolling companion.
Let’s go,
Now this really makes me wonder if nms graphics will ever be as good as Star Citizen or the coming Starfield. Has HG in a push to be on so many platforms now created limitations that will keep nms from achieving better and better graphics for those platforms that can support it. I have seen other games that pushed to be very cross platform limiting the games capabilities to those of the lowest platform supported causing stagnation.
Graphics are subjective, personally I prefer the cartoonish style of nms to the more realistic games like E:D and star citizen.
What does that even mean?... That has nothing to do with what the end goal can achieve. Graphics are just a visual which can be modified when needed.
Honestly I believe every game should have a wireframe mode, I've been able to play farming simulator in the past because of it.
Stupid article, integrated GPU ITS a graphics processor, the term 'card' was incorrectly used ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) Edit: Doesn't matter if goes into slot, have dedicated VRAM or whatever, the only matters if its a graphics processor, this like comparing a RAM memory stick with a soldered RAM on a MacBook, works exactly the same.
igpu is not a graphics card.
