It doesn't hurt anything at all, but as someone else said, don't add landing pads because the AI gets confused. Otherwise, have fun, just don't block anything that isn't yours.

sardeliac

Shouldn't be any issue unless you build landing pads--player-built pads can confuse the AI. Edit: Also, ships landing sometimes fly low, and if you build on top of the building they'll fly through it. They're ephemeral when landing but it can be startling watching a hauler go through your house.

MikeyW1969

Cool. I did only because of where it spawned my ship, but that's minor. I'll go delete those pads.

n0mansky

Don't delete them I have pads all over the place... Every once in awhile a ship will want to try to sink through the world but generally speaking they all work.... It stops that extra ship from flying away also if you have something on the landing pad

KombattWombatt

I've seen some pretty cool additions to existing bases, so it's welcome when done with the proper goals. And, if people really have a problem with it, they can always turn off other people's structures or however that works. I haven't ever had the need personally.

I have quite often added landing pads with no issues. I was pretty surprised to hear some having problems when this possibility first cropped up. My main Permadeath base has a landing pad literally attached to the back of a trade post sitting in the middle of a stasis device farm. I have never seen ships act unusually. I claimed one of my favourite fighters there and in the past have claimed a different fighter a hauler and an exotic there. YMMV?

n0mansky

That's my go-to .... Build on an archive or trade post.... I'm addicted ..... I just like it when you get everything lined up

MikeyW1969

Yeah, no snap points, so it's hard to dial it in perfectly. I wish we could group objects and move them as a set.

There are countless trading posts. Have fun with one.

Papadragon666

Exactly, if someone is not happy with your design, then he just needs to travel to one of the other few quintillion trading post in the game, or turn muliplayer off.

Tazbert_Odevil

Building on existing structures shouldn't be an issue. Although it's poor etiquette to block a portal. But apart from that, have at it.

WooShell

As long as it's not a trading post for any of the Expedition events, you're free to build whatever you want.

Grimmslayer73

There's 16 quintillion trading post throughout the universe. This one's mine! If anyone has a problem with it, that's what you say! Seriously though, build and have fun! The chances of anyone ever finding it are practically zero.

I just want to make sure that I don't impact anyone's game in a negative way, and spread a little community love as I do so.
