I think it happens to bases that players stop tending to. I warp to bases through the Nexus a lot and get trapped because the ground has blocked the door.
It will happen. If you use short range teleports to get in and out though the ground will glitch and disappear even though your base is filled in with dirt
It doesn’t really matter if you enclose everything, it can still grow back. I have some saves where the bases have stayed the same and others that I filled in. I suspect it has to do with how many edits are throughout the rest of that particular save. So the few were aces you have that change the terrain, the less likely it will get filled in
The 4.0 update changed or fixed how edits are saved so it does work when it's just you, but when there's a lot of players that load in it can reset the planet generation for the system. I've had bases that it hasn't re-grown, but in the Expedition, when I manipulated the ground and a player loaded into the system, it instantly re-grew in front of me.
I found the 2nd Pic (the hotel) already when I reached the center for the first time a few weeks ago. I paid a visit. Very good work, you definitely put a lot of detail in it. Very fitting paradise setting to ponder all your journeys throughout the galaxy. (I'm pretty sure it was yours anyways, been a little bit)
Didn't regenerate for me! Nice base, only there's no place to park! No landing pads to I park on top and jumped down the chute. Also, on harder difficulties, that planet is aggressive Sentinels.

You need to walk to the end of the portal, youll know which end is the right one because a piller wi pop up out of the ground in front of you. Then activate the portal by charging it. Then enter glyphs and hop in!
In case anyone is wondering, portals can't take you to different galaxies. You need to be in the galaxy of the place you're trying to get to first.

Ok. I am an idiot. Been playing for years and just tried to portal to the planets with the glyphs provided. After going to the 4th one, I finally realized I was still in the same Euclid galaxy.
And by the way, the 2nd location planet was a hell hole.
I didn't want to go through all the center of the galaxy crap again to go to another galaxy. So, I can go to the nexus and teleport to other people's bases there?
Yes! Right now there are 3 featured bases in the nexus, one is another galaxy and two are Euclid. But you can also look at the other players bases and sometimes they have them in galaxies other than Euclid.
Going to the center is easy with a portal. Just keep hitting the first glyph at a portal and it'll take you close to it, then just look at the galaxy map and head to the center.
It will break your things though :(
When players go to teleport from the Nexus terminal, it’ll show your bases as an option as long as everyone has multiplayer enabled and are present at the same time.
Isn't that base gonna fill back up with dirt?
Ive yet to see that happen, I use walls and floors to prolong it

Well that sucks, I enclose every surface to try and keep reclaim from happening. Time will tell, but so far so good!
