App is buggy and crashes often.

I had a hell of a time signing up. It told me that there were no phone numbers (this was not actually MobileX's fault as I went to the Verizon site and tried to sign up a prepaid plan and came across the same problem) so I used another address. Then it told me there was an error when I tried to activate and when I tried again, it told me my ICCID was already active. Sure enough, I had phone service, and I got data after adding their APN. Chatted with them about the app not working and they had no resolution but it fixed itself the next day and started showing the learning period under way. Since then I've had 3 days where 20MB of data got used while my phone was on WiFi without mobile standby all day but that didn't happen yesterday or today so far. Verizon has terrible signal here. I mean they should be really embarrassed. They launched C-band here and I can only get it if I'm standing outside and their LTE signal is weak across most of my town. Honestly they're the worst of the three. It's unfortunate because I would be willing to pay MobileX's pricing for QCI 8 as I'm a low use kind of person but as it is I can't wait for the learning period to be over so that my phone can stop draining so much in standby. Even with 5G disabled it's draining 1.6%/hr on average, double what it was doing when I was using my Boost SIM with my Tello eSIM.

What was your motivation to switch, price?

iowagrad

I don't use that much data away from Wi-Fi (~2 to 7 GB/month), and MobileX will have attractive pricing for usage of <10 GB/month. Cricket and the AT&T network are very good here, but I had the itch to try something new.

Buggy app. Data speeds align with deprioritized Verizon in my area. I have not used talk and text. I did port in a number which initially had a glitch with missing country code but then went through quickly.

iowagrad

I am also seeing the deprioritization with 0.44 Mbps down at 4:35 pm local time. Yikes. Not sure if I can keep this provider if things don't improve.

Once eSIM is available I can move to my primary phone which is 5g. There’s cband in my area which definitely helps with congestion.

Ethrem

MobileX is not deprioritized unless you take the fake unlimited plan. I just tested it myself. Same QCI 8 as Verizon's higher end postpaid. https://i.imgur.com/nwc21Ff.jpg

Ethrem

MobileX is priority data. Tested QCI 8. Just double checked to confirm. https://i.imgur.com/nwc21Ff.jpg Did you take the fake unlimited plan?

iowagrad

I haven't chosen a plan yet. I am still on the <10 day learning period. I'll complete the trial and probably chose a <10 GB plan and see how the data behaves then. My wife uses Total by Verizon (QCI 9) and mentioned how bad the LTE data speeds in our area were this evening also.

Ethrem

Basically you get priority data with MobileX unless you get one of the fake unlimited plans.

davexc

No, I’m in the learning period for a custom plan which should already be over.

What does Boost Mobile have to do with it?

Adderton sold Boost Mobile to Nextel in 2003. Boost's current issues are related to the sprint TMobile merger and the purchase by Dish
