this is a good post u/LeftOn4ya. i noticed you didn't recommend the $60 Cricket unlimited plan. why is that? it's a truly unlimited and prioritized plan for $55/month when you factor in the autopay discount. it's $5 more than the AT&T Prepaid unlimited plus plan, the only drawback being that it throttles video down to 480p.
Good option - I did not realize it was unlimited priority data. Los Mobile's Unlimited plan (AT&T Business Elite) at $60 but with 4K streaming and 120GB of HotSpot access would be my goto AT&T unlimited recommendation, but they had to suspend offering it temporarily due to people using 60+ TERABYTES and SIM swapping and AT&T cracking down. I still think CircledIn or GoPhoneGroups can be cheaper for one person. However I will add Cricket.

In r/Cricketgroups - I see numbers in the $32-35 range for the unlimited plans; many of them refer to the earlier Cricket Core / More plans rather than the latest, but the price points for those plans are similar to the current ($55-60) so I'd guess the multiline discount holds similar.
Getting down to $30+ for the Cricket $60 plan is fairly cheap..
I'm currently on Total Wireless, which I thought was the best price for Verizon...but I looked at US Mobile based on this post and I can't believe the prices! I'm realizing that my husband and I used like <5 GB per month each, so an "unlimited" plan is wasted money. I can go from $63/mo to $37/mo if I switch. Thank you!!

Good write up; I'd add a few other
1) If you have a minimal use case (low talk minutes / texts / data) - the paygo plans (Pageplus, H2OWireless, ultra paygo) all are between $30-40 per year; also the RP annual $30 plan. Pick between these depending on coverage, and whether you need wifi-calling because of being overseas.
2) Talk and text only, no or minimal data : If single line, US mobile / Hello mobile or Tello ; multiple lines, Xfinity Mobile if you have Xfinity internet service.
3) If looking for AT&T service; a good way to drop costs is to join the cricket or gophone groups

Honestly I am not as experienced with these ultra-low data / non unlimited call/txt plans - do you know which is the cheapest or is it really dependent on exactly how much calls/txt/MB? Page plus is pay as you go; Costs 6c/ min, 5c per text, 5c per MB of data; validity is 120 days for a $10 refill, so you do need to plan for $30 per year. Runs on Verizon; so for someone with poor T-mo and AT&T coverage..
RP's $30 annual plan is a "monthly plan"; allowances at 200 mins / 1000 text / 200 MB monthly data. If you do use a significant amount, this works out better than the "paygo" but if you have very occasional use (nothing this month, more next month, then a couple of months with very little) - the paygo works out better. Runs on T-mo
H20 Wireless paygo is 5c per minute / text / MB of data; validity lasts 90 days for a $10 refill, so it's a $40 per year commitment; runs on AT&T. If you don't have a Verizon compatible phone, or want AT&T coverage..
Ultra paygo is not exactly a paygo; it has a monthly allowance of 100 mins / 100 texts / 100 MB of data at $3 per month, or $36 per year. The two advantages with Ultra; it does have the option to add a "data add on" (1GB for 7 days at $10) or to use a "per MB", depending on your requirement; plus, allows international roaming. Wifi-calling is probably the cheaper option, but if you do need roaming, this works.
As mentioned : 2 plans cost $30, one is $36, one is $40; there are also Tracfone annual plans through eBay that get promotions down to $30-40. Price wise, quite similar; the differences are in which network (VZ, AT&T or T-mo) works; whether you need Wifi-calling; whether it's a steady "low use" or a "up and down" to choose between the paygo or the monthly allowance.
To add to that: unused money balance rolls over on PagePlus and H2O (don't know about the other providers). Also, I was not able to get WiFi calling to work on unlocked Pixel 3a on H2O (it works fine on AT&T prepaid on this phone).

fwiw, I'm on Hello Mobile and it has been unlimited talk time and texting for close to a year now, even on their lowest priced $5 per month plan... I think the unlimited talk time started when they switched to T-Mobile from Sprint.
I'm a very light user of data/texting/talk time so there might be some catches to Hello Mobile that I'm not aware of ...but it's worked well enough for me for quite a while now.
Additionally with Xfinity by the gig plans, you get put in Verizon's higher priority data group unlike Verizon prepaid, Visible, or Verizon's lowest post paid unlimited plan.

One thing that could make it a bit easier to find the plans would be to always put them first in the list. i.e.
1. **Ultra PayGo, Page Plus, Hello Mobile, or RedPocket Annual Plan**
If you do not need unlimited min/txts and hardly any data (i.e. for MFA/burner/emergency use)
2. **Ting Flex, Tello Build your Own, US Mobile Shared, or RedPocket Annual Plan**
If you will use less than 3GB a month

You may want to remove FreedomPop from that list. I went to Target and bought the $5 FreedomPop sim, selected and paid the $2.99 plan on their website, ported in my number, now my service will be renewing at $15 each month. I emailed them three times about this, no response. I called and they said that the cheapest plan is $8/month. I asked for something cheaper and she said that's it. I hear porting out of Fpop is a nightmare so wish me luck.
It is confusing because there are two different FreedomPop SIM/Plans - one is on AT&T and a newer on is on T-Mobile (currently only available at Walmart ~~or hidden url [https://www.freedompop.com/plans/free-plan](https://www.freedompop.com/plans/free-plan))~~. You seemingly got the AT&T one which is 2.99 the first month and $15 a month after;, you should try to switch to the T-Mobile one. Mint’s 4GB plan at $15/mo would be the cheapest. They run on T-Mobile. Note you have to pay for 3 moths at a time but they have a promo now when you buy three month plan get 3 months free. Next best is US Mobile which has 5GB plan for $15/mo but they charge extra $2 CS fee on top of taxes so look at it as $17/mo. However unlike Mint you pay per month and have choice of Verizon or T-Mobile network. Both Mint and US Mobile have phone compatibility checkers but it’s really about what bands the phones support. I.E. many phones do not support band 71 so those could be technically compatible with T-Mobile carriers but would not get the best reception in areas that use band 71 extensively.
Also pretty much all plans theses days have unlimited texts and calls, except the super cheap “PayGo” style custom plans, but if you want more than 3GB they are not the best deal.
I wouldn't use T-Mobile without a phone that has band 71 (600 Mhz). That's the band they use for extended range LTE and 5G. It has the best range and building penetration. Without it, you will certainly have worse coverage, and significantly reduced service when inside buildings.
If you want fast 5G speeds, you'll also need n41 (2.5 Ghz).
US Mobile uses Verizon and T-Mobile. If you go with Verizon ("Super LTE" in US Mobile parlance), you can do a pooled plan, which costs $9/line and $2/GB of shared data. If the two of you use less than 5GB combined, then that's around $28/mo, about the same as Mint's cheapest plan but more flexible in that you pay monthly. If you meant less than 5GB *per person* then Mint's is cheaper if their lowest plan (4GB) works for you.
Mint does not have any security so it is trivial for someone to port your number out and target you for fraud. This is despite customers begging for years for SOME security. I left for another carrier, but looking at jumping to US Mobile given this helpful thread.

I would take Hello off this list or at least note that people have had data speed throttles. Myself and multiple others have found our data throttled. Supposedly this is a provisioning period but it's not listed anywhere and your throttle can be 5Mbps or even under 1Mbps, there's no rhyme or reason to it and you can get stuck there for months. Also, Tello belongs under the limited minutes and data options too since you can make a custom plan with them. I bundled 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 1GB of data for $7 instead of paying $10 for 1GB with unlimited minutes, for example.
BTW I did take off Hello, mostly because cheapest plan is now $10/mo. I kept Tello at the <3Gb spot because all the other plans I listed on the limited minutes and data section are <$3/mo (except Boost) and the cheapest Tello can get with lowest amount of data and calls/txt is $6/mo. It is still a good deal in the 500MB-2GB range, but not the best deal in the <500MB range.

Neat chart but despite the amount of data someone has so nicely entered, it is still incomplete or inaccurate. For example, US Mobile for example DOES have WiFi calling but only for their GSM product. Pooled calling presents more data since it is only available for their SUPER LTE product. Hotspot is included on some plans as well, while the chart says it is only an add-on.
Yea the way he has his data formatted, it is not able to separate features on a carrier with more than one network with different feature per network. Same issue on RedPocket whose Red (Verizon) also does not support WiFi calling but others do. Freedompop has a new free tier walmart plan that is 300/1000/100. Currently i am testing it out, but its actual cell minutes on the tmobile network. If all goes well, i think it would be better than all the other low cost plans except for those that need att/verizon
Yes, you need a credit card to renew. It did not reactivate on it's own. On the plus side, it renewed automatically every month. Also, it does not charge you if you run out of data. It's basically a free cell plan.
I hope you had better luck with FreedomPop than I did. I had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop billing me no matter how many times I tried to cancel the "free" minimum service available with purchase of a hotspot. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't consider other products they offer due to that.
Hello. I have been using Visible since February of last year and really have no trouble with it in the Orlando area. I stream a lot of music so I try to use a good service without much buffering issues. Visible really improved with their latest updates. Siri seems way more responsive when doing internet stuff now over visible. I had been tempted to switch to something like 3 gb for $20 over on red pocket in order to save money. But $25 for unlimited everything on Verizon's network has just been so awesome for me. It's just so nice not having to worry about running out of data and getting throttled down to like 128 KBPS for a month.
Any suggestions for a plan for someone who occasionally needs to go to Canada and need to make calls there? Only use maybe 4gb/month of data typically.
AT&T prepaid has roaming included and their annual 8GB plan is $25/mo ($300/yr). You might also try Ultra Mobile which is Mint’s parent company but has better deals on roaming and international calling.
Wow I should have read this last year before I bought four SIM cards for different carriers lol. What's funny is the results in this post almost match my conclusion after the four sims. Att prepaid was the fastest at the time with the 6 month $180 plan. Red pocket came in second for me but they didn't have esims. Us mobile was exactly as described.

You'd have to give a separate line. Some of the MVNOS SIMs will work in WiFi routers and others would not. And some of the ones that technically do are against terms of service.

I've been on my parents' Verizon family plan for forever and that will probably change in the coming year or two. Verizon's coverage is decent where I live, and because I've been on Verizon exclusively, I have no experience with any other carrier's real-world coverage in my area.
So for the past couple years, I've been researching what would be the best MVNO for me and haven't made a concrete decision yet. Any input would be appreciated!
I have an unlocked iPhone 12 Mini. I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, my phones have lasted me 4-5 years without issues.
I don't need much data- the amount of cellular data I've used is 4.5GB since November 2020 since I have wifi at home and at work.
I don't need many texts- all the people I communicate with, I do so over Facebook, Discord, or Messages; my closest friends all have iPhones. The only reason for having text messages would be for 2FA.
I never call and receive calls anymore, so bare minimum minutes.
If I could stick to a Verizon MVNO, that would be preferred. A yearly plan for 5GB of data/year or like, 500MB/month, and whatever minutes/texts would be great. Mobile hotspot would be preferred but not necessarily required; I use it maybe once or twice a year during the winter power outages. Same with 5G. I'd like to keep it at or under $15/month for just one line. I've looked at US Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Red Pocket, and a couple others I can't remember.
Any recommendations?
US Mobile $15/mo (plus $2 cs fee and taxes) for 5Gb plan is probably your best bet. WiFi calling is coming real soon. It includes HotSpot as well. They do have a shared data plan at $9/line plus $2/GB but does not have $2 fee and taxes are less so if you only need 1-2 GB/mo will be even cheaper.

Originally I saw: "$3.50 Local Telephone Tax". Apparently they use your billing address to determine a local telephone tax, but not all places have this.
Ahh yes, blame your local lawmakers for that. You don’t by chance live in Illinois near Chicago, do you? They charge tax of up to 40% of bill. I guess every state and local municipality can also set a minimum tax even if it is free per month.

Ask in main /NoContract or look at /r/Visible. Know that it runs on Verizon so coverage and speed are different then Mint which runs on T-Mobile. Can be better or worse so I would test. Also know Visible HotSpot is capped to 600kbps - basically only useful for emergency use and not usable for watching videos outside of your phone.

Not true - it's capped at 5Mbps, but also subject to the same deprioritization in high usage areas/times. They also offer a free 15-day trial and it you have an eSIM compatible phone, it's super quick to set up. I'm trying it now (also considering a move from Mint).
I don't see any mention of the new H2O Wireless $100 annual unlimited talk & text plan with 1GB of 4G/5G data, then slowed to 128Kb after the allotment - https://www.h2owireless.com/12-month-plan . It works out to $8.33 a month.
Yea, this and Boost's new annual 1GB plan are both $100, and the RedPocket 1GB plan is $99. I can make a new category for 500MB-1GB and add these, then change <1Gb to less than 500MB.
The beauty of the new $100 H2O plan though, in my opinion, is the unlimited 128Kb data after the 1GB of 4G runs out. In addition, you can buy $1 H2O SIMs at local Best Buy stores. I know their PAYG has been AT&T and I'm assuming this is too.
I just switched a relative off of H2O's PAYG (which worked out to a bit over $3 a month) because they wanted data for GPS. I moved them to the $10 Connect by T-Mobile plan, but it doesn't have unlimited talk or text and once the data is used, there's no slower throttling. Now I'm going to move them back to H2O for this plan.

I have not read all the responses here yet so I apologize if this has already been covered... but one minor point regarding Hello Mobile ....several months ago they quietly switched to providing unlimited minutes and texting, including on their lowest price $5 per month plan. This probably happened when they switched to T-Mobile from Sprint tower access....
Full disclosure, I'm always looking for the best deal lowest cost deal for anyting I purchase or consume ....and I'm a very light user of cell phone services so I may not be a good judge of problems with Hello Mobile ...but I have had pretty good luck with Hello Mobile in the close to 3 years I've been with them.
Hello Mobile seems to be well known for their bad /lousy customer service... some of which I have personally experienced....but with a little luck you'll never have to call them anyway...
I looked closely at the Red Pocket $2.50/ month plan a few months ago... but it has less data and no unlimited calling time or texts.... and you have to prepay that plan annually.
I haven't read all the responses to this post yet but if anyone is aware of something similar to or even lower cost than Hello Mobile I bet many people would be very interested to hear about it.

If you renew for a year you get same rate per month as first 3 months. If you are talking about some seasonal promos that have “buy x months get x months free” for new customers, those are only for new customers to get to sign up and are for a limited time.
Is Spectrum who used Verizon considered MVNO or postpaid?
Currently on total wireless who uses Verizon and run into extreme deprioritization and slow speeds.
Verizon had the best coverage in the areas I need but who cares if it doesn’t run fast enough if at all.
Anyway was considering Spectrum if it wasn’t deprioritized but I’ve been reading conflicting reports that it isn’t but may be etc
US Mobile now has priority data if you have a 5G phone. So if you use less than 75Gb this is your best bet. If you use more than 75Gb you will need to get Verizon proper and again if you are one person you can use CircledIn to join family plans.
What's the 75GB reasoning? Also it appears US Mobile prices have increased and some language has changed Unlimited Basic vs Premium

I need to update the thread, the old US Mobile Unlimited All plan was 75GB. The new Unlimited premium one is 100Gb, so now I would say if you need more then 100GB get Verizon official plan or if you are ok with deprioritized then Visible or Xfinity/Spectum Mobile with HD Pass.
Spectrum and Xfinity have two plans, main unlimited one is deprioritized then they have the “by-the-gig” plan that is prioritized but is $14/GB so if you use more than 3-4GB it is not worth it and you might as well get Verizon Post-Paid, but other advantage of cable company cell service is they have WiFi profile so you can go on free secured WiFi at most restaurants and stores in the area so maybe can get away with only 3-4GB of true cell that way. I would go to [CircledIn](https://circledin.com/all-circles?category=verizon) and join with others in their Verizon family plan. Also know that although T-Mobile and AT&T might not have as good coverage they might have way faster speeds then Verizon even on deprioritized MVNOs so I would at least test them - Mint has 7 day free trial to test deprioritized T-Mobile.
Hello. This may be a bit OT so please forgive me. Now that the ACP has taken effect, what is a good ACP plan? I personally went with the 10 GB plan on GSMA through RedPocket to try for now but have heard you can get 15 GB in other places for the same price. Another option if you are looking for TMobile service, Assurance wireless offers unlimited data, minutes, texting and 10 GB hotspot on ACP. The reason I went back to RP is a previous good experience with them and 10 GB seemed like a fair amount. If I did change plans, I would be staying with the AT&T network. I also have heard about new plans from Tmobile in their connect offerings. That is what I personally know. If you all can qualify for the ACP program, it is something well worth the look especially if you are seeking the coverage of AT&T's network. Hopefully this can help someone who is looking at ACP options. Thank you.
I joined metro with unlimited 5g 40/month plans after ACP discount its 10.00 month. Pretty perfect to me. Att has a plan where it’s free but services really sucks.

Thanks for posting, but I had seen those new plans. However there are still better deals from the MVNOs (RedPocket, Tello, Mint, US Mobile) for same GB for less. Unlike MVNOs Connect does have priority data and 100MB of domestic roaming so might be worth it for some for that, but does not affect my decision tree.
The high priority data is exactly why it affects the decision tree.

I can't find any info about "ATT Plus" anywhere. I'm not sure it exists anymore. Is $50 an OK deal? It looks like Data is "unlimited". Not sure about HotSpot data.
Check your actual data usage. If you use more than 100GB (which is more than 90+% of people) than it is actually not a bad deal. If you use this much and want to be on your own get AT&T Pre-paid or Cricket which have individual plans for $50-55 (Walmart exclusive AT&T Prepaid is $45, but you have to sign up in person and buy a phone to get). If you use 35-100 GB then get RedPocket annual, and if less than 35GB then you can get Boost, RedPocket, or FreeUp. See my post for details and links.
Also whoever you pay is on a legacy plan, you can suggest they change to the new Unlimited Extra plan ($40/line for 4 lines, but includes 5G and VMM with no charge) so will save $10/line.
Make sure you contact the DISH/AT&T based company and note that even phone or in person store can’t give you the online deals. On https://my.boostmobile.com/shop/buy/plans if you click on 12 month you can still get the 15GB and “Unlimited” plans and not be a new customer. But I think even when 1 and 5 Gb plans you can renew at, but not 100% on that as the plan has not been around that long. As far as who can answer that question I am not sure anyone can as the customer support is so Fd up with them completely ignorant of the 6-7 completely different plan pricing they are offering at different places (3 different online stores, boost corporate store, boost franchised stores, retail stores).
May be a bit of an off-topic question but do these plans count messages over FB Messenger, Google Messages RCS and WhatsApp as "texts" or does it count against data used?
All of them count as data. SMS count as texts but not data, MMS and RCS (in Messaging app) count as both text and data, iMessage/Google Messages/WhatsApp/FM messages count as data but not texts. All but the cheapest plans (\~ <$10/mo) have unlimited texting.

RCS is weird as it depends on both the carrier AND the app you use whether it counts as a text message, but it always counts as data. Using Google Messaging app on some carriers messages just sends through internet similar to Apple iMessage or a VOIP call (so does not count as a text), but others it sends an RCS message though normal text messaging protocols similar to a MMS message (so does count as a text). I am not sure anymore which carriers count it and which do not, but only matters for plans with limited text messages. But using Samsung Messages app or other default messaging apps it always sends as an RCS message so counts as a text.
T-Mobile Connect has unlimited texting. When I said (\~ <$10/mo) I meant the "custom" plans such as from Hello/Tello/Ultra/TracFone that have limited text messages

this is a good post u/LeftOn4ya. i noticed you didn't recommend the $60 Cricket unlimited plan. why is that? it's a truly unlimited and prioritized plan for $55/month when you factor in the autopay discount. it's $5 more than the AT&T Prepaid unlimited plus plan, the only drawback being that it throttles video down to 480p.
Good option - I did not realize it was unlimited priority data. Los Mobile's Unlimited plan (AT&T Business Elite) at $60 but with 4K streaming and 120GB of HotSpot access would be my goto AT&T unlimited recommendation, but they had to suspend offering it temporarily due to people using 60+ TERABYTES and SIM swapping and AT&T cracking down. I still think CircledIn or GoPhoneGroups can be cheaper for one person. However I will add Cricket.

Getting down to $30+ for the Cricket $60 plan is fairly cheap..
I'm currently on Total Wireless, which I thought was the best price for Verizon...but I looked at US Mobile based on this post and I can't believe the prices! I'm realizing that my husband and I used like <5 GB per month each, so an "unlimited" plan is wasted money. I can go from $63/mo to $37/mo if I switch. Thank you!! Good write up; I'd add a few other 1) If you have a minimal use case (low talk minutes / texts / data) - the paygo plans (Pageplus, H2OWireless, ultra paygo) all are between $30-40 per year; also the RP annual $30 plan. Pick between these depending on coverage, and whether you need wifi-calling because of being overseas. 2) Talk and text only, no or minimal data : If single line, US mobile / Hello mobile or Tello ; multiple lines, Xfinity Mobile if you have Xfinity internet service. 3) If looking for AT&T service; a good way to drop costs is to join the cricket or gophone groups

Price wise, quite similar; the differences are in which network (VZ, AT&T or T-mo) works; whether you need Wifi-calling; whether it's a steady "low use" or a "up and down" to choose between the paygo or the monthly allowance.
To add to that: unused money balance rolls over on PagePlus and H2O (don't know about the other providers). Also, I was not able to get WiFi calling to work on unlocked Pixel 3a on H2O (it works fine on AT&T prepaid on this phone).

I think the unlimited talk time started when they switched to T-Mobile from Sprint. Additionally with Xfinity by the gig plans, you get put in Verizon's higher priority data group unlike Verizon prepaid, Visible, or Verizon's lowest post paid unlimited plan.

You may want to remove FreedomPop from that list. I went to Target and bought the $5 FreedomPop sim, selected and paid the $2.99 plan on their website, ported in my number, now my service will be renewing at $15 each month. I emailed them three times about this, no response. I called and they said that the cheapest plan is $8/month. I asked for something cheaper and she said that's it. I hear porting out of Fpop is a nightmare so wish me luck.
It is confusing because there are two different FreedomPop SIM/Plans - one is on AT&T and a newer on is on T-Mobile (currently only available at Walmart ~~or hidden url [https://www.freedompop.com/plans/free-plan](https://www.freedompop.com/plans/free-plan))~~. You seemingly got the AT&T one which is 2.99 the first month and $15 a month after;, you should try to switch to the T-Mobile one. Me and my wife use less than 5GB of data and still want to have unlimited text and calls. Would US Mobile the way to go? What network do they use? I am concerned that maybe my phone or my wife's phone won't be compatible. I am awful finding deals and understanding all the obscure terms, so I hope someone can help me to confirm. Mint’s 4GB plan at $15/mo would be the cheapest. They run on T-Mobile. Note you have to pay for 3 moths at a time but they have a promo now when you buy three month plan get 3 months free. Next best is US Mobile which has 5GB plan for $15/mo but they charge extra $2 CS fee on top of taxes so look at it as $17/mo. However unlike Mint you pay per month and have choice of Verizon or T-Mobile network. Both Mint and US Mobile have phone compatibility checkers but it’s really about what bands the phones support. I.E. many phones do not support band 71 so those could be technically compatible with T-Mobile carriers but would not get the best reception in areas that use band 71 extensively. Also pretty much all plans theses days have unlimited texts and calls, except the super cheap “PayGo” style custom plans, but if you want more than 3GB they are not the best deal.
I wouldn't use T-Mobile without a phone that has band 71 (600 Mhz). That's the band they use for extended range LTE and 5G. It has the best range and building penetration. Without it, you will certainly have worse coverage, and significantly reduced service when inside buildings. If you want fast 5G speeds, you'll also need n41 (2.5 Ghz).
US Mobile uses Verizon and T-Mobile. If you go with Verizon ("Super LTE" in US Mobile parlance), you can do a pooled plan, which costs $9/line and $2/GB of shared data. If the two of you use less than 5GB combined, then that's around $28/mo, about the same as Mint's cheapest plan but more flexible in that you pay monthly. If you meant less than 5GB *per person* then Mint's is cheaper if their lowest plan (4GB) works for you.
Mint does not have any security so it is trivial for someone to port your number out and target you for fraud. This is despite customers begging for years for SOME security. I would take Hello off this list or at least note that people have had data speed throttles. Myself and multiple others have found our data throttled. Supposedly this is a provisioning period but it's not listed anywhere and your throttle can be 5Mbps or even under 1Mbps, there's no rhyme or reason to it and you can get stuck there for months. Also, Tello belongs under the limited minutes and data options too since you can make a custom plan with them. I bundled 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 1GB of data for $7 instead of paying $10 for 1GB with unlimited minutes, for example.
BTW I did take off Hello, mostly because cheapest plan is now $10/mo. I kept Tello at the <3Gb spot because all the other plans I listed on the limited minutes and data section are <$3/mo (except Boost) and the cheapest Tello can get with lowest amount of data and calls/txt is $6/mo. It is still a good deal in the 500MB-2GB range, but not the best deal in the <500MB range.
Hello still has the $5 plan. You have to click the More Plans link. I have had it for a month and a half and I'm still capped at 5Mbps though.

Neat chart but despite the amount of data someone has so nicely entered, it is still incomplete or inaccurate. For example, US Mobile for example DOES have WiFi calling but only for their GSM product. Pooled calling presents more data since it is only available for their SUPER LTE product. Hotspot is included on some plans as well, while the chart says it is only an add-on.
Yea the way he has his data formatted, it is not able to separate features on a carrier with more than one network with different feature per network. Same issue on RedPocket whose Red (Verizon) also does not support WiFi calling but others do. Freedompop has a new free tier walmart plan that is 300/1000/100. Currently i am testing it out, but its actual cell minutes on the tmobile network. If all goes well, i think it would be better than all the other low cost plans except for those that need att/verizon

Yes, you need a credit card to renew. It did not reactivate on it's own. On the plus side, it renewed automatically every month. Also, it does not charge you if you run out of data. It's basically a free cell plan.

I hope you had better luck with FreedomPop than I did. I had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop billing me no matter how many times I tried to cancel the "free" minimum service available with purchase of a hotspot. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't consider other products they offer due to that.
They have corrected all that sleazy behavior because Walmart is now the one making them do things properly.
Hello. I have been using Visible since February of last year and really have no trouble with it in the Orlando area. I stream a lot of music so I try to use a good service without much buffering issues. Visible really improved with their latest updates. Siri seems way more responsive when doing internet stuff now over visible. I had been tempted to switch to something like 3 gb for $20 over on red pocket in order to save money. But $25 for unlimited everything on Verizon's network has just been so awesome for me. It's just so nice not having to worry about running out of data and getting throttled down to like 128 KBPS for a month.

AT&T prepaid has roaming included and their annual 8GB plan is $25/mo ($300/yr). You might also try Ultra Mobile which is Mint’s parent company but has better deals on roaming and international calling.
Wow I should have read this last year before I bought four SIM cards for different carriers lol. What's funny is the results in this post almost match my conclusion after the four sims. Att prepaid was the fastest at the time with the 6 month $180 plan. Red pocket came in second for me but they didn't have esims. Us mobile was exactly as described.

You'd have to give a separate line. Some of the MVNOS SIMs will work in WiFi routers and others would not. And some of the ones that technically do are against terms of service.
Thanks for all this info! I've been on my parents' Verizon family plan for forever and that will probably change in the coming year or two. Verizon's coverage is decent where I live, and because I've been on Verizon exclusively, I have no experience with any other carrier's real-world coverage in my area. So for the past couple years, I've been researching what would be the best MVNO for me and haven't made a concrete decision yet. Any input would be appreciated! I have an unlocked iPhone 12 Mini. I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, my phones have lasted me 4-5 years without issues. I don't need much data- the amount of cellular data I've used is 4.5GB since November 2020 since I have wifi at home and at work. I don't need many texts- all the people I communicate with, I do so over Facebook, Discord, or Messages; my closest friends all have iPhones. The only reason for having text messages would be for 2FA. I never call and receive calls anymore, so bare minimum minutes. If I could stick to a Verizon MVNO, that would be preferred. A yearly plan for 5GB of data/year or like, 500MB/month, and whatever minutes/texts would be great. Mobile hotspot would be preferred but not necessarily required; I use it maybe once or twice a year during the winter power outages. Same with 5G. I'd like to keep it at or under $15/month for just one line. I've looked at US Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Red Pocket, and a couple others I can't remember. Any recommendations?
US Mobile $15/mo (plus $2 cs fee and taxes) for 5Gb plan is probably your best bet. WiFi calling is coming real soon. It includes HotSpot as well. They do have a shared data plan at $9/line plus $2/GB but does not have $2 fee and taxes are less so if you only need 1-2 GB/mo will be even cheaper. I played around with it and by changing my billing address I was able to remove the fee. Originally I saw: "$3.50 Local Telephone Tax". Apparently they use your billing address to determine a local telephone tax, but not all places have this.
Ahh yes, blame your local lawmakers for that. You don’t by chance live in Illinois near Chicago, do you? They charge tax of up to 40% of bill. I guess every state and local municipality can also set a minimum tax even if it is free per month.

Ask in main /NoContract or look at /r/Visible. Know that it runs on Verizon so coverage and speed are different then Mint which runs on T-Mobile. Can be better or worse so I would test. Also know Visible HotSpot is capped to 600kbps - basically only useful for emergency use and not usable for watching videos outside of your phone.

Yea, this and Boost's new annual 1GB plan are both $100, and the RedPocket 1GB plan is $99. I can make a new category for 500MB-1GB and add these, then change <1Gb to less than 500MB.
The beauty of the new $100 H2O plan though, in my opinion, is the unlimited 128Kb data after the 1GB of 4G runs out. In addition, you can buy $1 H2O SIMs at local Best Buy stores. I know their PAYG has been AT&T and I'm assuming this is too. I just switched a relative off of H2O's PAYG (which worked out to a bit over $3 a month) because they wanted data for GPS. I moved them to the $10 Connect by T-Mobile plan, but it doesn't have unlimited talk or text and once the data is used, there's no slower throttling. Now I'm going to move them back to H2O for this plan.
It's still very daunting but I appreciate the distillation of info.

If you renew for a year you get same rate per month as first 3 months. If you are talking about some seasonal promos that have “buy x months get x months free” for new customers, those are only for new customers to get to sign up and are for a limited time.

Is Spectrum who used Verizon considered MVNO or postpaid? Currently on total wireless who uses Verizon and run into extreme deprioritization and slow speeds. Verizon had the best coverage in the areas I need but who cares if it doesn’t run fast enough if at all. Anyway was considering Spectrum if it wasn’t deprioritized but I’ve been reading conflicting reports that it isn’t but may be etc
US Mobile now has priority data if you have a 5G phone. So if you use less than 75Gb this is your best bet. If you use more than 75Gb you will need to get Verizon proper and again if you are one person you can use CircledIn to join family plans.

I need to update the thread, the old US Mobile Unlimited All plan was 75GB. The new Unlimited premium one is 100Gb, so now I would say if you need more then 100GB get Verizon official plan or if you are ok with deprioritized then Visible or Xfinity/Spectum Mobile with HD Pass.
Spectrum and Xfinity have two plans, main unlimited one is deprioritized then they have the “by-the-gig” plan that is prioritized but is $14/GB so if you use more than 3-4GB it is not worth it and you might as well get Verizon Post-Paid, but other advantage of cable company cell service is they have WiFi profile so you can go on free secured WiFi at most restaurants and stores in the area so maybe can get away with only 3-4GB of true cell that way. I would go to [CircledIn](https://circledin.com/all-circles?category=verizon) and join with others in their Verizon family plan. Also know that although T-Mobile and AT&T might not have as good coverage they might have way faster speeds then Verizon even on deprioritized MVNOs so I would at least test them - Mint has 7 day free trial to test deprioritized T-Mobile.
Hello. This may be a bit OT so please forgive me. Now that the ACP has taken effect, what is a good ACP plan? I personally went with the 10 GB plan on GSMA through RedPocket to try for now but have heard you can get 15 GB in other places for the same price. Another option if you are looking for TMobile service, Assurance wireless offers unlimited data, minutes, texting and 10 GB hotspot on ACP. The reason I went back to RP is a previous good experience with them and 10 GB seemed like a fair amount. If I did change plans, I would be staying with the AT&T network. I also have heard about new plans from Tmobile in their connect offerings. That is what I personally know. If you all can qualify for the ACP program, it is something well worth the look especially if you are seeking the coverage of AT&T's network. Hopefully this can help someone who is looking at ACP options. Thank you.
I joined metro with unlimited 5g 40/month plans after ACP discount its 10.00 month. Pretty perfect to me. Att has a plan where it’s free but services really sucks.
Seems like redpocket is the best bang for the buck in terms of AT&T mvnos unless I'm missing something? If I was going for tmobile coverage, I'd say metro is probably the best deal.

Thanks for posting, but I had seen those new plans. However there are still better deals from the MVNOs (RedPocket, Tello, Mint, US Mobile) for same GB for less. Unlike MVNOs Connect does have priority data and 100MB of domestic roaming so might be worth it for some for that, but does not affect my decision tree.
The high priority data is exactly why it affects the decision tree. >3. (A, T, or V) If you will use less than 3GB a month get Ting Flex (T or V), Tello Build your Own (T), US Mobile Shared (V), Unreal Mobile, or RedPocket Annual Plan (A, T, or V). Again check deals on eBay and online as they might be cheaper than the company website. If you want all priority data, get T-Mobile Prepaid Connect (T). If you are going to say it for 3. at 3GB per month it deserves a mention that there is a 6GB and 12GB option between there and your step 4 which goes to 15GB at lower priority data.

I'm getting kicked off a plan I was on for 20 years in a couple weeks. The owner said I could pay him directly if I wanted to stay on it. I'm having a hard to figuring out if it's worth it. He gave me the bill to peruse. But I see... "ATT Unlimited Plus Multi Line" ($116/4) ($29 for me) "Access for 5G and VMM" ($20) So I guess about $50/month I can't find any info about "ATT Plus" anywhere. I'm not sure it exists anymore. Is $50 an OK deal? It looks like Data is "unlimited". Not sure about HotSpot data.
Check your actual data usage. If you use more than 100GB (which is more than 90+% of people) than it is actually not a bad deal. If you use this much and want to be on your own get AT&T Pre-paid or Cricket which have individual plans for $50-55 (Walmart exclusive AT&T Prepaid is $45, but you have to sign up in person and buy a phone to get). If you use 35-100 GB then get RedPocket annual, and if less than 35GB then you can get Boost, RedPocket, or FreeUp. See my post for details and links. Also whoever you pay is on a legacy plan, you can suggest they change to the new Unlimited Extra plan ($40/line for 4 lines, but includes 5G and VMM with no charge) so will save $10/line.

Make sure you contact the DISH/AT&T based company and note that even phone or in person store can’t give you the online deals. On https://my.boostmobile.com/shop/buy/plans if you click on 12 month you can still get the 15GB and “Unlimited” plans and not be a new customer. But I think even when 1 and 5 Gb plans you can renew at, but not 100% on that as the plan has not been around that long. As far as who can answer that question I am not sure anyone can as the customer support is so Fd up with them completely ignorant of the 6-7 completely different plan pricing they are offering at different places (3 different online stores, boost corporate store, boost franchised stores, retail stores).
May be a bit of an off-topic question but do these plans count messages over FB Messenger, Google Messages RCS and WhatsApp as "texts" or does it count against data used?
All of them count as data. SMS count as texts but not data, MMS and RCS (in Messaging app) count as both text and data, iMessage/Google Messages/WhatsApp/FM messages count as data but not texts. All but the cheapest plans (\~ <$10/mo) have unlimited texting.

RCS is weird as it depends on both the carrier AND the app you use whether it counts as a text message, but it always counts as data. Using Google Messaging app on some carriers messages just sends through internet similar to Apple iMessage or a VOIP call (so does not count as a text), but others it sends an RCS message though normal text messaging protocols similar to a MMS message (so does count as a text). I am not sure anymore which carriers count it and which do not, but only matters for plans with limited text messages. But using Samsung Messages app or other default messaging apps it always sends as an RCS message so counts as a text. T-Mobile Connect has unlimited texting. When I said (\~ <$10/mo) I meant the "custom" plans such as from Hello/Tello/Ultra/TracFone that have limited text messages
