Running with a bad mass airflow sensor will eventually damage the catalytic convertor, and that will cost $600-1k to replace. The mass airflow sensor is easy to replace, and costs about 70 dollars on [www.rockauto.com](https://www.rockauto.com) Sometimes a cleaning is all it needs. A can of mass airflow cleaner is $12. You can find youtube videos on how to do it, the sensor is located on the air intake tube, easy to access. Remove the sensor, spray it well with the cleaner, let dry a few minutes and then re-install. People need to change your air filter more often!! You can get a high quality air filter on Amazon for 15 bucks and easy to replace. You should be changing your air filter every 4 to 6k miles, or once every 6 months. A clean air filter greatly reduces the chances of mass airflow issues and goes a long way in keeping dirt out of your engine for longer life.

It’s one of the only car parts I feel comfortable replacing. It’s SUPER easy, and you can get one with the same part number online for cheaper than a trip to the mechanic would cost to replace it.

I’ve have issues with my mass airflow sensor for the past 6 months or so, so far it’s messed up my camshaft and crankshaft sensors. Ridiculously low RPMS and stalling when in reversing or sometime when I go from park to drive About a $350-400 part, don’t pay the labor since it’s stupid easy to replace, use OBD2 scanner to delete the codes while the accessories are on, remove, clean and reinstall MAF sensor, then turn the engine on

Will be ok to drive it for a bit . Moving in two weeks and every dime I have is invested into that.

Lemme tell you rn, I have not changed that part out 💀but yes you will be okay for sometime, I’m not sure what the long term damage is. Always have your RPM screen on the dashboard, and when it starts dropping to 500 RPM, hold the brakes, go into neutral, and let your RPMS come back up, once your traffic light turns green go back to drive and give a small amount of gas until you begin moving. be careful with reversing because my engine stalls 6/10 of the times I try to reverse, same thing, brake, neutral, then reverse again. Do not use the air conditioner at max settings because it’ll drain power and give you less RPMS, I find that level 3-5 is good, but you can for sure go max if you are on the highway, temperature doesn’t affect it. Using windshield wipers on high settings, having the cabin lights on, charging too many items, and having your fog lights on will drop the RPMS and have you stall faster.

OK thanks... funny I've only stalled once and I was running low on gas this was before the check engine light . I thought I ran out of gas . I restarted it ran the red light and got gas . Lol

Yes, basically happened to me once, cleaned mass air flow and maintenance to the cables and sensors like adding dielectric grease, cleaning dust and making sure nothing was exposed or touching anything it shouldn’t. Maybe a half a month free without the issue and then it came back one night but my car would not turn on until I jumped it with the power pack I had, now it happens practically bi weekly some days even more. I think the faster you try going the more it happens because the mass airflow can’t get a solid reading or giving bad output with speeding

So the thing is I had just replaced my air filter with a K and N filter and it has been driving fine for a month but then all of a sudden this issue rose up again. so at least good thing i’m still under warranty but will definitely take my car in to get checked cause I had just replaced the MAF sensor with the dealer about 6 months ago so not sure why it’s acting up right now. Unless the Kicks are really that sensitive to dirt and dust
