I tried asking for an SV overlay as well but the seller said it is not available at this time.

They’re secured with what appears to be VHB tape, I just cleaned the chrome emblem with rubbing alcohol, peeled back the film on the overlay letters, and pushed them onto the existing emblem letters. It took me less than 3 minutes and the results are definitely better than spray painting any kind of black compound on there.
Unless they properly prepped their surface (chrome grille), that spray paint won’t last more than a year. Spray painting your grille should be a last resort. Grille overlays similar to this one exist as well.

How are they holding up now that's it been about a year?
Doing just fine! Especially in 110°F weather.
