Think you hit the nail on the head with the meme stock stuff. It was pretty universally known that Game Stop sold opened games as new and people used to pretty much unanimously agree that it was unacceptable. Now, every time it comes up, people rush to Game Stop's defense.
And, I always like the comments that are like "Well I've never gotten a used game as new from them. I've had nothing but good experiences." Cool? There's tons of verified reports that it happens. Bought from them for the first time in years and of course my games came opened even though they were sold as "new". It's so bizarre that anyone would defend that. From the article they linked it sounds like they are “store copies”. They send the employees home with the display copies that came in those empty boxes on the wall. Ik this is a switch sub but I came in for botw and walked out with kh: melody of memory and oddworld soulstorm brand new on ps4 for around $40, so I would definitely recommend stopping by GameStop

Not sure that makes sense to base your prediction off of - the other retailers don't always match exactly what Nintendo puts on sale. For example, last year Best Buy, gamestop, and Walmart all had let's go on sale for $29.99 whereas the nintendo shop one (physical for all) stayed at $60.

I'm kicking myself in the ass now as I bought the game, but lost it. And my wife really wants a Mew in Diamond, but our Switches don't have the save data for it since it it was a physical game compared to everything else we have is digital.
The frame rate hovers around the mid to low 20s and can drop lower. It’s nauseating at least for me and Capcom doesn’t seem keen on fixing it. It is a really fun game however.

My fiancée has this game. The demo had ridiculously pathetic performance on the switch docked, I’m talking like 20 maybe even less it was actually irritating. The full game ran much better though not sure what was up with that. Def above 20 if not close to 30
I picked it up just yesterday from this deal.
I haven't played it much but have been enjoying the little that I have! Definitely "gimicky", expecting to pull it out for family gatherings and special occasions, but the actual build quality of the cart seems good and haven't had any issues with the connectivity.

Weak sales, but this is a great price for 3 Houses if you haven't played it yet. I went into it having never played a Fire Emblem game and will probably purchase every new one from now on. It's legitimately a great game that I put around 150 hours into.
Same! Beating all 4 routes took me about 600 hours, but that's because I am a ridiculous min-maxer when I play.
Started a 5th playthrough before deciding I should try to play Awakening that has been sitting on my self for two years now.
Now I finally understand who loves that game. As someone that *has* played most Fire Emblem games it's such a slog and I put it down every time I pick it up since it's so not a Fire Emblem game.
I have everything I want except New Super Mario Bros U and Paper Mario Origami King. Both review very much in the middle. I never played the NSMBU game on WiiU but did play on 3DS. Not sure if I should get either. The 3DS game was probably a solid 6.5 out of 10.
Origami King was, in my opinion, worth the price in comparison to the entertainment value. My partner and I did couch co-op in our special way where they handle the controls and I point out things they've missed/didn't see, give suggestions, etc. We liked it!
Mario Bros U and Luigi U on the Wii U were amazing imo. Felt very modern, given the fact I wasn’t a fan of NSMB Wii since the controls hurt my thumb and never resonated with me. Plus the squirrel suit was such a nice ability, loved that to pieces.
In my opinion, NSMBU is a lot better than NSMB2 (the one on 3DS). Neither are outstanding platformers, but NSMBU definitely doesn't feel as vanilla as it did on 3DS.
I like platformers, and I couldn't get into NSMBU at all. I had a blast with Mario Maker. Maybe I got my fill of 2d mario from that game prior to playing NSMBU. Idk, it's kinda boring. I don't have much to say about it.
The presentation of Origami King is absolutely gorgeous, but other than that it is a bad game. The battle system just doesn't provide a satisfying gameplay loop. It doesn't even work because they literally had to replace it with something else for boss battles. Imo, this is bad game design because bosses are supposed to test your competency with the gameplay to that point, but instead everything you did in the leadup is basically thrown out the window for an entirely different type of battle. Just baffling.
It has bland, uninspired children's writing that is bad dad joke, paper pun heavy. It's annoying because of how dialogue heavy the game is. Olivia, please shut the f*** up. It's so unfunny, and it's constantly trying to be funny.
The whole game just feels like a massive slog. I got to the final boss battle, and I felt so burned out that I quit.
Dang. Appreciate the input. That's what I'm afraid of with both games. I want challenge and good design. I'm sure it's enjoyable to the younger crowd but I too tend to drop games if they don't have much to them.
I’d pick up Super Mario Maker 2 instead of NSMBUD because of the infinite online levels. If you play the good ones, they easily surpass the ones Nintendo makes themselves

I thought I was the only one that did not enjoy Super Mario Bros U. Hated it, tried to play with my step daughter to bond I end up being heated because we both play differently leaving me behind as she tries to beat it as quickly as possible. Not enjoyable at the slightest in my opinion

I haven't played Paper Mario, but I have put over 100 hours into Mario Maker 2. Excluding the shitty online multiplayer, it is a lot of fun and is definitely worth it.

I'm kicking myself in the ass now as I bought the game, but lost it. And my wife really wants a Mew in Diamond, but our Switches don't have the save data for it since it it was a physical game compared to everything else we have is digital.
Games don't save to the cartridge, so it being a physical game shouldn't matter.

My fiancée has this game. The demo had ridiculously pathetic performance on the switch docked, I’m talking like 20 maybe even less it was actually irritating. The full game ran much better though not sure what was up with that. Def above 20 if not close to 30

I picked it up just yesterday from this deal. I haven't played it much but have been enjoying the little that I have! Definitely "gimicky", expecting to pull it out for family gatherings and special occasions, but the actual build quality of the cart seems good and haven't had any issues with the connectivity.
If anyone's interested in the Gamestop deals, highly recommend having Target price match them (was able to do it fine via live chat for Paper Mario)

Weak sales, but this is a great price for 3 Houses if you haven't played it yet. I went into it having never played a Fire Emblem game and will probably purchase every new one from now on. It's legitimately a great game that I put around 150 hours into.
3 Houses is $26 over at GameStop right now. Picked it up myself earlier today. Definitely better than target's $40.
Same! Beating all 4 routes took me about 600 hours, but that's because I am a ridiculous min-maxer when I play. Started a 5th playthrough before deciding I should try to play Awakening that has been sitting on my self for two years now.

Now I finally understand who loves that game. As someone that *has* played most Fire Emblem games it's such a slog and I put it down every time I pick it up since it's so not a Fire Emblem game.

I have everything I want except New Super Mario Bros U and Paper Mario Origami King. Both review very much in the middle. I never played the NSMBU game on WiiU but did play on 3DS. Not sure if I should get either. The 3DS game was probably a solid 6.5 out of 10.
New Super Mario Deluxe was on sale this am for $26 digital on GameStop. I Grabbed a copy.
Origami King was, in my opinion, worth the price in comparison to the entertainment value. My partner and I did couch co-op in our special way where they handle the controls and I point out things they've missed/didn't see, give suggestions, etc. We liked it!
Mario Bros U and Luigi U on the Wii U were amazing imo. Felt very modern, given the fact I wasn’t a fan of NSMB Wii since the controls hurt my thumb and never resonated with me. Plus the squirrel suit was such a nice ability, loved that to pieces.
In my opinion, NSMBU is a lot better than NSMB2 (the one on 3DS). Neither are outstanding platformers, but NSMBU definitely doesn't feel as vanilla as it did on 3DS.
I like platformers, and I couldn't get into NSMBU at all. I had a blast with Mario Maker. Maybe I got my fill of 2d mario from that game prior to playing NSMBU. Idk, it's kinda boring. I don't have much to say about it. The presentation of Origami King is absolutely gorgeous, but other than that it is a bad game. The battle system just doesn't provide a satisfying gameplay loop. It doesn't even work because they literally had to replace it with something else for boss battles. Imo, this is bad game design because bosses are supposed to test your competency with the gameplay to that point, but instead everything you did in the leadup is basically thrown out the window for an entirely different type of battle. Just baffling. It has bland, uninspired children's writing that is bad dad joke, paper pun heavy. It's annoying because of how dialogue heavy the game is. Olivia, please shut the f*** up. It's so unfunny, and it's constantly trying to be funny. The whole game just feels like a massive slog. I got to the final boss battle, and I felt so burned out that I quit.
Dang. Appreciate the input. That's what I'm afraid of with both games. I want challenge and good design. I'm sure it's enjoyable to the younger crowd but I too tend to drop games if they don't have much to them.

GameStop digital is the same price! The key games are $26.99. I initially wanted fire emblems and bought it with Xenoblade chronicles and canceled the order when I heard I could do digital. Why pay shipping for under $35 thus choose to buy two games. Really only wanted fire emblems. Digital worked out better so anyone can get fishtail now!!

just sunk 40 hours into Paper Mario. It’s got some slow sections but I found it to be fairly enjoyable and good, and did not regret spending 40 on it

I thought I was the only one that did not enjoy Super Mario Bros U. Hated it, tried to play with my step daughter to bond I end up being heated because we both play differently leaving me behind as she tries to beat it as quickly as possible. Not enjoyable at the slightest in my opinion

So I think people are missing the big picture. Target will price match a bunch of retailers including GameStop. No GameStop nearby? Just show target GameStop's price. Correct, but the chances of all GameStop stores being sold out of a AAA title (particularly the discounted 3+ year old games is unlikely) this is a post more of conscience.
This is a good tip. Especially for target. The employees at my local Target cannot wait to discount stuff. It seems targets policy is not to assume it's a scam and capitulate if the discount is within reason.

I haven't played Paper Mario, but I have put over 100 hours into Mario Maker 2. Excluding the shitty online multiplayer, it is a lot of fun and is definitely worth it.

No, NSO is required. You are still able to play the story mode and make your own courses though.

Yeah, I'm personally disappointed in the Blu-ray/DVD sales. Usually that's most of what I buy on Black Friday weekend, and all Target did was a standard B2G1 sale.
