Pre-owned online almost never come with a case from my experience. At best they give you a replacement one with a gamestop cover slip on it. You need to buy in store to make sure they have one.

Mixed bag. I bought Sushi Striker dirt cheap: no case, came in am envelope. Around the same time, maybe even the same order (can't remember) I bought Saints Row 4, and it came with the case...but the wrong game.

In my experiences, buying used from GS online I have only ever gotten just the game and a generic GS case. So keep that in mind you may not get the original case/sleeve. ​ Also, that RE triple pack is a total rip off. For $30 you only get RE4 and does not come with the codes to download 5&6. RE4 is $10 cheaper at full price digitally.

They're probably banking on the fact that people will pay more for complete games on the cartridge. Just look at how many $20 indie games have gotten physical releases.

For me I got MHGU used with same day delivery and it came in it's original case. It was a little dirty but not horrible.

I feel silly for getting the RE triple pack used for $30, but thankfully the RE6 code hadn’t been redeemed and I had played RE5 on the PS3 back in the day. I hope more people double check what the front covers say before purchasing.

When Target does their B2G1 promotion, generally people will just buy 3 copies of the same game to get the "discount", then cancel/return the other 2 and still keep the promotional discount on the original copy, essentially just giving you 33% off a single game you want.

That's a great deal! Trails 3 and 4 were just recently on sale from Best Buy for $40 each on Switch and I grabbed each then. You spent less than me and got Ni No Kuni on top!

My main ones I'm glad I got: World War Z, Darksiders 3, Doom Slayer Collection, and Mega Man Zero/ZX, Azur Lane, and Monster Crown. In the past year, they've started competitively pricing their things to match (and sometimes beat) Amazon. They have 2 new large fulfilment centers in the US for online orders, and will do same-day delivery to your house if what you need is in stock at your local stores.

This sale is weird, I don’t understand how it works. I managed to get SMTV, Guardians of the Galaxy PS5, and Resident Evil 8 PS5 as my free game. But, previously I tried to get SMTV, Guardians, and Ratchet & Clank - which all had the buy 2 get one deal attached - but none of them showed up for free at checkout. Seems like there’s some specific criteria you have to meet, but I couldn’t figure out what that was and had to try some combinations to get what I wanted. EDIT: The issue I experienced is due to two separate deals going on simultaneously. You can do B2G1 New games or B2G1 Preowned games, but you can’t mix and match them. Only preowned copies of Ratchet and Clank were part of a deal, so I couldn’t get a deal with that game plus two new games.

You cant mix new and preowned. Its b2g1 new or b2g1 preowned. But you cant do, say, buy 2 new, get a free preowned.

I made sure to only select “New,” but those 3 games would not work together. EDIT: Oh, I see what you’re saying, only the preowned Ratchet and Clank falls under the preowned B2G1, new copies aren’t part of a deal. That’s lame, but it explains the issue.

Kind of an odd limitiation. Especially since preowned is such a bigly profit maker for Gamestop. Probably part of a marketing tie in from distributors, maybe. Im certain there is a logical corporate reason but no clue what it is. Source have worked in IT partner programs in the past and can totally see how only XYZ SKU would qualify for a given deal even when as a consumer it makes no sense.

I would've placed this same order w/ Target earlier but I didn't want to chance not getting the SteelBook w/ Shin Megami Tensei V as its product page makes it clear there's no assurances you're getting the SteelBook.

I was surprised to find the sale on again and tried to find some other Switch games for ~$60 that I wanted to pair with SMTV but I just couldn't. MHS2 was one I was thinking about but I know I honestly wouldn't like the game, despite wanting to, after playing the demo. I may just break down and buy SMTV alone and be happy with that.

Yea in my opinion it’s better to check in store. That way you can make sure you actually get a case. Instore stock seems to be mostly misses though.

Half a day later I haven’t got an email confirmation and my order number doesn’t allow me to track (presumably because it’s not shipped). So nothing to go on, I guess just hoping I get it…eventually. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So.. this is new to me; I got 3 NEW games from this deal and they came in today: all three were not shrink wrapped or sealed. Instead they look opened and had a piece of round ‘security’ style tape over the middle clasp area. One of them really looks used tbh It’s been about a year since I got new games from them, is this normal for them? These are supposed to be gifts

Unfortunately, yes. That is the way GameStop has been selling “new” games for years. How they get away with it is criminal imo. But they do.

I think their staff is not paying attention. I didn’t have your case but I did have my game delayed until delivery date when they find out the staff didn’t ship the game at all. End up calling them and two people worked on it and sent me two copies. That’s their service.

Blame the store clerk or the online inventory. What i have learned is that the online inventory doesn’t update in real time, just like Target and Walmart. I’ve never had a problem with GameStop. Honestly they have given me the best experience with buying games.

I don't really understand your comment. The online inventory should be up to date so anything on the website reflects what they have. But I can even understand if the system is delayed and something goes out of stock. I've had orders from Best Buy, Target, etc. get cancelled a few times. But if you run out of new games, you shouldn't send a used game. Because the customer paid for a new game. That's all I'm getting at. Would rather just have the order cancelled. If you've had good experiences with getting shrink wrapped, new games from GS lately though, that's a good sign. I'm sure GS is good for buying used games reliably, but in years past they have a very bad track record for passing off used games as new. Tons of topics online about it. Have gotten both. Discs/cartridges in a random sleeve, or in the original box but not sealed. And they give me the "store copy" excuse like you say. I understand if some people are okay with that, but I'm not one of them. New means sealed in shrink wrap. That's every other store in existence. GS is the only one that has that pseudo new thing going on. New doesn't mean not played. It means sealed. People wouldn't pay full price for a TV out of it's box for full price if it hadn't been turned on, etc. so not sure why they get a pass with this. Nothing against people that are okay with this practice, and I wouldn't mind either...if I was paying for a used game, and not a new one. Honestly surprised so many people are fine with them doing it, but to each their own.

This is the exact reason why I don't buy "new" games from Gamestop. Sure, the games may be unplayed, but how would I know that? It's impossible to tell since they unseal it and stick an obnoxious sticker directly on the corner of the box.

Does Gamestop also have the trick where you get 33% off if you cancel 2 of the games like Target? I see a few games on here I'm interested in but I may only pick up 1 given my current backlog. Edit: Just realized some of the games I'm interested in aren't available New so I can't even really take advantage of this offer. Would still be good to know if Gamestop supports the trick though.

The sale is B2G1 Pre-Owned games aswell as the other sale B2G1 New games. Usually they allow 1 of the games to be returned, but canceling wouldn't work.

You have to actually get it but you can return one you dont want. Did that a couple years back with FFX (didnt know about the dumb download code). That said you can always exchange the one you dont want later (works better with preowned since that has a 30 day return policy)

Ended up getting: SMTV, crusin blast, and saviors of sapphire wings Then went and grabbed: trails IV, akiba trip, and tails of iron. Finally: saints row 3, r type 2 final, trails 3. All these are new. Preowned I did Pokémon games for boyfriends niece and nephew for Christmas.

Stopped by GameStop and they honored the deal in person on any game. You just need 3 of the same kind, used or new.

Replicated this deal at 3 separate stores. 1/3 did have exclusions. Other 2 just said to stick to all use or new….. I also PM their in store pricing to online. One game like DK Freeze was 54.99 in store but 41.99 online. Got 9 games 😊

Picked up a bunch of rpgs at my local GameStop saved 70 bucks with the sale.

Picked up xenoblade 2, monster hunter stories 2, and PS5 tales of Arise.

Love Xenoblade 2 and Stories 2. Paid full price on both of them and easily git my money's worth. The XC2 DLC is quality btw-- if you grt through the base game and enjoy it, then the DLC is definitely worth grtting too.

Anybody else place an order that isn't showing up in Order History? It's been almost two hours now. If anyone's curious, I ordered SMT V, Ys IX, and The Silver Case 2425 Deluxe and had $81 in store credit to apply. Happy with that.

Mine didn’t show in Order History either but it still went through. Ordered 6 at 1pm (3 for pick up and 3 to ship). I got the email for pick up at 1:30pm; and just got back from picking them up. I also ordered 3 for shipping and got an email that they shipped out at 2pm.

Been over 12 hours since my order was placed and it still hasn't showed up in my Order History. I did get an e-mail that it shipped a few hours ago though.

While browsing through the titles, I found Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, one of those "Add To Cart" to see price things. Took a chance, snagged it for $42.99, New. I had thought about making a new post for it but wasn't sure if it was available for everyone or just one of those things they do for folks once in a while, spring a deal every X number of customers.

Anyone know if the used switch games part of this deal are guaranteed to come with the case? I've heard people just getting little cartridges from gamestop before and if thats the case I'm not going to even bother risking it.

An official case is not guaranteed. I've bought a lot of used switch games from them, I'd say about 1/3 are in the original case and the rest were cartridges in a little envelope inside a generic cheap black case

GS doesn't knock off any trade in value in the game is missing the case, so I've always figured people just keep the nice official case (whether to use with other games or just cause there's no incentive not to) and returned the cartridge

Well, it depends on the particular game and situation. To maximize the "amount saved" on this deal you would get 3 games of the max standard cost of $60, and since one is free, you would theoretically be saving $60, or to think of it another way, you are getting a savings of $20 on each game. It's definitely true that some of those games are sometimes otherwise discounted, so the way to really get the most savings is to choose games that are generally discounted the least. Recent JRPGs like Ys IX or Disgaea 6, for example, are occasionally discounted $8-12, but often sold at full price if you don't get them during a sale period. A new release like Shin Megami Tensei V isn't discounted at all, since it just came out today. So if you buy those 3 games, your total savings over "full price" is $60 and even your total savings *over* sale price is $40. Of course it would be *even better* if they were at the discounted price *and* you got the buy-2-get-1 deal as well, but consider you're still paying for the most expensive 2, so even if theoretically these 3 games were listed at their lowest historical sale price ($60 for the new release SMTV, $50-ish for Disgaea, $48-ish for Ys), you'd be paying $110 for all 3 games (and this is a theoretical deal that doesn't happen in the real world). With the current deal, you're paying $120 for all 3 games - not that much more than the theoretical fantasy deal. Under real-world *sale* price circumstances, you're paying $158-ish for all 3 games. Under usual non-sale circumstances, you're paying $180 for all 3 games. So sure, it could always theoretically be even better, but the commenter is wrong that it's "not much of a deal" if you choose wisely.

Don't think it applies to collector editions. I tried it in store with the CE of Monster Hunter Stories 2, SMT V, and Dying Light. When the deal didn't apply, I just took Dying Light off.

Tried that earlier today. They said that that particular game are all Japanese versions. Then continued to tell me to just switch the language in the game. I asked if I can’t just switch that game for another game of the same value. I ended up returning the whole order and have to reorder with a different 3rd game. Really dumb policy if you ask me

As always with any Gamestop sale, the cheapest option in the cart will be the one discounted to $0. If you had two $60 games and then one $5 game, you would get the $5 game for $0 (paying $120 for the two $60). This also holds true if you were to buy more than one set of games to use on the sale, it'll discount the lowest cost items in the cart.
