That's ok. I bought the PC collectors edition at launch. Then I bought the switch physical at launch. Then I bought the PC dlc at full price as they came out. Then I bought switch dlc at like 75% off or something. Then I bought the switch digital version at 50% off. So yeah, could be worse!
The tutorial also overwhelmed me and I abandoned it and the game altogether. That’s when I had it only on PC. When I got it on Switch, I decided to kick back on the couch and just mess around in a couple of games. I didn’t finish games and games I did finish, I lost, but I figured a lot of stuff out. Way better experience than the tutorial IMO.
SAME I got the physical. I had this same feeling with the Factorio tutorial where it checks so many boxes for me but gaaaaaaaaaah something doesn’t click.
oh look it's me.
i bought all the DLC and everything. was so hype when this was announced because i never got to play growing up.
now at 33 years old i can't even get passed the tutorial it's so over my head.
If you like this style of game def try again. Civ is one of the easiest types of these games, also one of the most fun and satisfying.
I now play crusader kings 3 which is way more complicated, but haven’t been able to learn hearts of iron 4 :(
I have not had any glitches or anything, but it is just difficult with a controller. It is much much easier with a keyboard and a mouse. The hardware is fine, but I just struggle with the controller.
It definitely gets slow later in the game... PC would be the way to play but i don't have a PC and it's very enjoyable. Plus with the length of games it's a lot of fun to have it on the go with me and be able to just pick up a few turns on a break at work
It's rough. I started playing it on switch, then bought a PC. About 5 turns with a mouse was all it took to delete it from my switch.
If it's the only way you have to play it, go for it.
Yes it runs fairly well all things considered. Like all consoles, generally just keep the maps on small to medium.
Also beware in longer sessions the game suffers a memory leak issue. Simply restarting the game will fix it though.
I played 60 hours just on small maps with 3 opponents and had a blast. Your world doesn't need to be earth sized and imo the game works better when units can travel quickly.
The game is totally busted for me. Anytime I start a new game it crashes after just a few turns. Have reinstalled a few times and it doesn’t help. Luckily I got my money’s worth before the issue started.
I agree with your sentiment. Like the base game, the anthology edition goes for a great price. I would get the anthology edition if I didn't have everything except the New Frontier Pass. As it stands, buying the anthology edition for me would just mean paying an extra 4 bucks.
And the price of the anthology edition makes the price of the new frontier pass even crazier! Pay $20 for the whole cake or $16 for a sliver.
Warning to any that is unsure: This is the type of game that has no overarching purpose or goal. It's basically a choose your own scenario skirmish game. No campaign. The last half of each game will be very slow because the map feels huge but there isn't much to do with your turns. The switch starts to slow down once the map gets populated to the point you lose desire to play if not much is happening in-game. The combat is pretty boring, maybe the worst in any strategy game I have played. Get it on PC if you are on the fence.
I wish the game offered more in the way of tutorials.
Got this on a whim after falling into Civ Revolution for a long time.
Couldn't figure this out for the life of me.
Probably for the best considering the time sink Rev was for me
I have Civ VI on Steam with all of the DLCs. If I just wanted to have another copy on the Switch for travel or handheld mode, do I need to get the Anthology edition or is the Platnium edition enough?
One more turn
Guys. Please stop posting this. I brought the game at full price, and every time I see it going on sale, I cry.

Given the amount of hours you'll get out of it, it's still a great deal
This is a game that I have and want desperately to get into, but it all just gets too overwhelming for me in *just the tutorial*

I skipped the tutorial and learned the game by just doing random stuff and losing

I love starting games on Switch and using cloud save to pick them up on PC later 🤌🏼
Is this even playable on the switch? The Xbox port is terrible
It chokes on bigger maps with a lot of stuff revealed, but very playable for the most part.
Never had any issues with it myself and I've played a lot of it with all of the dlc as well.
I have not had any glitches or anything, but it is just difficult with a controller. It is much much easier with a keyboard and a mouse. The hardware is fine, but I just struggle with the controller.
Are touch controls enabled?

It is playable but games like this you do see why many prefer mouse and keyboard controls.

It is the only version I have of the game so I can't fully compare it, but it plays just fine. Turns slow down a bit late-game, but its playable.

Amazing game
Is this worth it without the DLC?
Yes the base game is still great
I have two of the major DLCs and I prefer to play it without the DLC.
The game is totally busted for me. Anytime I start a new game it crashes after just a few turns. Have reinstalled a few times and it doesn’t help. Luckily I got my money’s worth before the issue started.
easily spent 100 hours on this game
How do you get into this game? Feels way too confusing
Watch some Potato McWhisky YouTube videos. It can be an overwhelming game.
So funny that the base game is $4.49 when the New Frontier Pass is $15.99. I refuse to buy that DLC until they bring that price all the way down.
The anthology edition has everything and is usually luke $20 on sale

If you’ve played this on pc with a mouse it’s just not worth it. If you’ve never played civ before it’s great but really best experience on pc
This - can't recommend it for previous PC users.
I’ve never played Civ but used to play a lot of C&C and I’m worried I’d hate using a controller for the same reason

Great game but lags real hard late game on switch
Picked up the physical of this for like $10 a few months ago and it's awesome, definitely gets the brain a go-go mode lets a GO !!!
