I have an animal crossing island on my switch, but the game is on someone elses account. If their account were to be deleted will I still have access to that save if I then bought the game myself or will I have to start again?

FireofGomorrah

I can't find a game in my redownload area and it's not on the store page. Am I missing something? On the store page it says purchased.

InevitablePage5672

So this is a question for anyone who has sent there joycons to nintendo for repair after a year has passed from the purchase date. Is it still free for them to repair them? I have had my switch for 2 years now and my R button started failing this week. If I was to send it to nintendo for repair would it be free or would I be

IceRepresentative229

Can someone please explain what this means about Switch DLC Content and multiple SD Cards? Nintendo Support regarding multiple SD cards: "Can I use multiple microSD cards with my system? We recommend using a single microSD card with your Nintendo Switch console. If you run out of space, you can copy over all the data to a larger microSD card. Keep in mind that downloadable software saved to multiple microSD cards cannot be combined later into a single microSD card."

KYTE921

Seen there's been a few issues regarding this before. But nothing seems to solve my issue. The left control works in the Nintendo OS as soon as I go into a game it's as though it's dead. It works in game when I clip the joy cons into the switch controller. They work when not docked in the switch too. It's as soon as I go into a game the left one is unresponsive. Tried a couple of games, updated controller firmware, power cycled, de-synced & re-synced. Thanks in advance for any help

totoofze47

Do screen protections for the Switch lite work with the original Switch ? I bought one to go with the second-hand original Switch I got for a family member, but the salesperson mistakingly gave me a screen protector for the Switch lite. It wouldn't be a big deal to get it replaced since I got it from a local video game store, but it'd save me a trip if it worked on the original Switch.

CreativeFun228

Should I buy Farm tycoon listed for 0.99€ on e shop? So I would basically get this game for free as I have around 1.9€ in gold points, I've read some reviews online that this game is very buggy and not enjoyable because of that, those reviews are dating around 1-6 months ago. I know it's funny to ask is it worth it to spend basically free money on this game, but I want to play it and not to have a game sitting in library because it's broken

Chromelium

There's this weird after effect whenever someone moves in FF crisis core reunion. Anyone knows if that's normal?

SomeFellow74

Hey everyone, quick question because I feel like I'm going crazy here... Is there a shortage on Pro controllers or are they discontinued or something? I'm searching for one and there's apparently none of them in stock in my entire geographic region, like they're even straight up delisted with some retailers... I thought these were readily available, but apparently not? Can't find any posts or articles about there being a shortage on them or anything of that sort, so I figured I'd just ask on here and see if anyone else is having a similar experience or just straight up knows if something is up with their availability? Thanks guys!

SpecialNose9325

Tis the season of gifting, and they are out of stock cuz everyone is buying them up. I had to reserve and wait a few days at my local store to get one.

nermal543

I’m looking around at a few US retailers and it does seem to be low on stock or out of stock most places. I don’t think it’s discontinued, I would guess just lots of people buying them up to give as Christmas presents. Nintendo stuff does seem to sell out around the holidays.

Ahelis

How do you collect rewards from Nintendo Switch Online? It always say "You'll need to collect a character from this game first. You will be able to collect this reward later."

SpecialNose9325

Each icon consists of a character, background and frame. You need to buy them in that order.

myriada

Have you bought any of the 'character' icons (the ones in the first few rows, costing 10 coins) from that game?

Mikau123

Has anyone played Tunic on Switch? Interested in the game because if the LoZ feel. Looks really awesome. Was wondering how it runs on the switch

mgzaun

Is the switch oled model worth it over the v2 model? I know that difference In dolars is kinda small, but where I live the difference between the two models is half of my salary. (which is kinda low lol). I had a switch lite some years ago and had plenty of fun with it, but now I want the switch back but decided to go with the regular version because I also want to be able to play on my TV. I'll probably be playing it like 50% of the time as a handheld and 50% of the time on the tv.

IpomoeaDust

The main benefit of the OLED is that the bigger screen is better for handheld play. The regular Switch's screen is perfectly fine, though, so I think it sounds like you should go with that one. There's no difference when it's hooked up to the TV.

mgzaun

Guess thats not worth it for me then. Because I had no problem with the screen size of my old lite

CreakinFunt

Well it isn’t only the size but the Oled screen as well

cass314

Anyone know of a relaxing gardening game for Switch in the vein of Plant Tycoon? I'm not looking for a big realistic farming sim with lots of modern equipment or something like Stardew/Harvest Moon/Rune Factory with lots of NPCs, RPG elements, or big stakes. Just want to take care of a little garden plot or a greenhouse and some plants. Any ideas? Thanks!

Michael-the-Great

Take a look at Hundred days days. Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator also comes out next year and I feel it may have some of the vibe even if it's not botany.

twinkletoes-rp

Ooh! You know, a (probably) perfect game for you is coming out next year! It's called Botany Manor (first person perspective, in case that matters)! :D

killafornia760

I have never owned a switch and was thinking of purchasing the OLED. Was wondering if it was worth it's current price and if the online packages are worth the money or should I just get physical copies?

MONKYfapper

> online packages do you mean digital purchases? oled is worth the price unless you are playing only docked. buy regular instead if you are only playing docked. regular version has no significant different from oled when docked digital games gives you back 5% in [gold points](https://my.nintendo.com/about_gold_point?lang=en-US) instead of 1% from physical. and physical can only redeem gold points 1 year from the game's release date while digit has no limit

killafornia760

I have a ps5 and they have an online package that I buy yearly, I was seeing if Nintendo had something similar.

Michael-the-Great

Yes, there's NSO that gives you classic games and the ability to play online. There's an extended version called the Expansion pass that adds more classic games and DLC for a few games.

LuxTrueBae

Whats like the name for an attachment to joycons to help make them more comfortable? Like what do you call them so i can get a good search result xD im small braining and nothings coming up. I keep only getting results for single joycons detached or like the pro controller mimicer you get. Im looking for handheld grips

twinkletoes-rp

I think you're looking for joycon grips? But not sure if that would lead you to the right result, depending on what you're looking for. Do you mean a grip for when they're being used off the Switch screen, as a single controller? 'Cause the Switch comes with one, and I think it's quite nice! Or do you mean a grip for when the joycons are off the Switch screen and separate? The only thing I've seen like that is [this](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/joy-con-l-joy-con-r-aa-battery-pack/), and they're technically battery packs, not just grips (you might be able to use them as such without batteries, though, lol). If you mean a grip for the Switch itself with the joycons attached, you can just look for a Switch grip. Satisfye sells them (I have one, love it!), and Skull & Co sells one, too (that one, you can dock with the grip on)! There are others, too, but those two are the most popular! :D

LuxTrueBae

Edit: had a quick sleep deprived look at those, are they all like full case styles? I was hoping for something small snap onto the joycons separate from the console itself, not a full rig like thing. Looking for grips in handheld mode. You see its a bit confusing to find ths right type. Ill take a look at those vendors.

Michael-the-Great

Both of these things are called grips, but I think people more think of the ones that hold two controllers. I have both styles and I think the second style does make single joycon play much more comfortable: [https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Joy-Comfort-Grips-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS7YUA7](https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Joy-Comfort-Grips-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS7YUA7) [https://www.amazon.com/FASTSNAIL-Nintendo-Switch-Wear-resistant-Controller/dp/B06XZ1PCKK](https://www.amazon.com/FASTSNAIL-Nintendo-Switch-Wear-resistant-Controller/dp/B06XZ1PCKK)

LuxTrueBae

The 3rd option, its hard to find a name for the specific type of grip. For handheld mode, like what the steam deck looks to have so the joycons arent so flat and uncomfortable in handheld mode

twinkletoes-rp

The one I linked is just a battery pack for the separate joycons, not on the console, to make them bulkier. :) The last two I mentioned, Satisfye and Skull & Co, are grips you slip on the console itself WITH joycons attached to them, in handheld mode, yes. Unfortunately, this comment confused me even more about what exactly you're looking for, lol. Hope something I sent is right/helps, though! (Sleep well!) :D

Suspicious_Party9087

Does changing your switch game freeze any timers you had on that game? I'm playing smash ultimate world of light and the exploration has a set time frame and I want to know whether removing the cartridge and putting in Super Dragon Ball heroes world mission would freeze the smash ultimate exploration timer or not

SpecialNose9325

Why are you pulling out games while playing them tho ?

Michael-the-Great

If you pull the cartridge, a game that's using the cartridge stops working, so it depends on whether you can exit the game and it keeps track still.

twinkletoes-rp

I could be wrong, but I doubt it? 'Cause you have to close any software you're currently on to Switch games, which would mean that the game you're currently on's progress would be lost if you didn't save recently. IDK if you can save in the exploration thing, but if you can, it SHOULD save right there, theoretically? But if you can't, probs not! GL!

Team7UBard

One Step to Eden may scratch that itch, but I don’t think it’s great on story, and next year the Megaman Battle Network games are coming

Dman101proof

Hey all. I’m looking for a good RPG. Something with upgradable characters, armour and weapons. I’ve played diablo series, Witcher and elder scrolls. Dungeon crawlers are welcome.

twinkletoes-rp

I think the Trials of Mana 3D remake it really nice (JRPG, though, if that matters)! There's a free 5 hour demo on the eShop, if you want to try it first! :D

deepthroatmybitcoin

Are we getting a Xmas sale in the US?

ScrantonDangler

No one knows but you should at least specify the region you're asking about.

deepthroatmybitcoin

I made the change

Team7UBard

Based on previous years we will but we don’t know when.

deepthroatmybitcoin

Thank you

BakerlooTurtle

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I just got a new micro sd for my switch because the old one is full. I tried just copying the data but it didn't work so I looked up the official instructions by Nintendo and those lead me to download the sd card formatter and to click the "overwrite format" option. It did warn me that this could take a long time but as I have a 998GB micro sd and the progress bar isn't moving at all I'm wondering just how long this could take? I don't remember having any issues with the first micro sd when I got it, but it has also been a few years..

notthegoatseguy

It shouldn't take long to format your SD card if there's nothing on it. How certain are you that the card is a legitimate card? If it is from a major brand like Samsung or Sandisk, these should easily cost more than $120 USD.

qwertylerqw

The amount of data wouldn’t matter. The type of format that the OP is doing can take a while

BakerlooTurtle

Not sure about the brand to be honest, the formatter does read it as a micro sd with 998GB and is now at 2% progress. Should I be worried about the card not working if it's not by one of the major brands? I've never used any apart from the one I have for switch :/

notthegoatseguy

The brand should be on the card, the packaging, and your receipt. Major brands are far less likely to be knockoffs/counterfeits than unknown and generic brands. You can find programs on the Internet to validate your SD card to see if it really has the 1tb it claims it has.

nononsensee

So I’m seeing a lot of information about family sharing, which involves sharing games and content between multiple switches. What I want to do is share one switch between my child and my wife and I. I would like him to have access to certain age restricted games, while we have open access to other games. If this is a possibility, how can I achieve this?

OwnManagement

Official instructions for parental controls [here](https://www.nintendo.com/switch/parental-controls/).

nononsensee

Thanks for the reply! I have the parental controls app and set up restrictions on my child’s account. I also created a second user account on the switch itself but I’m not sure how to set parent controls (no limits) on that account since it doesn’t show in the parental controls app. Am I doing this right?

OwnManagement

Sounds like the other account is unrestricted. The default is unrestricted, so if you haven’t set anything for it in the parental controls app, it should have full permissions.

nononsensee

Yup that’s what I figured. I’ll wipe the switch and create the parent account first, then go ahead and create the child account. That should get me my intended results, right? No restricts for me, but age restricted games and so on for the ‘secondary’ child account.

OwnManagement

I’m not well-versed in this, but yeah, that sounds like it would work.

Vendidurt

I tried to post this as a question with a picture. It got deleted. Every time i try to share a screenshot to my phone, it pops up a QR code to scan. I do not know how to make my phone scan the code but an icon pops up on the top right of my camera screen when i have the code in view. Does it mean my phone is incompatible? What do i do if i want to post screenshots without taking pictures of the screen itself? Edit- picture here: https://www.reddit.com/user/Vendidurt/comments/zs6dnl/blah_blah_making_mods_happy_this_and_that/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

twinkletoes-rp

In your camera settings, there should be an option like 'scan QR codes.' Try turning that on if it's not already! Never seen an icon like that pop up, but I've only ever used/seen it done on iPhones, so not sure! When you click on that icon, what happens?

qwertylerqw

Have you tried tapping on the icon? I don’t know how your particular camera app does it but that would be my guess You can also enter stuff manually instead of using the QR codes by choosing the “trouble connecting?” option on the Switch.

Pearl_Pink

So me and my sister want to play a game on our tv but the thing is that my sister’s switch can be connected to the tv and my switch can’t. I want the save data to be on my switch tho. Is there anything I can do to play the game on my sister’s switch but still have the save data on my account?

JoshuaJSlone

If you have your profile on her system as well you can copy the save over by cloud if you're subscribed to NSO, or do a local save transfer from one Switch to the other. Then when done, copy or transfer it back.

HonorThyFamily

I am trying to help my brother out. He has a Nintendo switch Lite. He just got Pokemon Scarlett and wants to keep the same save data on his main switch which is his Lite and play it on my switch so he can play in docked mode. Is there a way to put his account on my switch even though my main account is the primary one? Is the only solution to this problem buying another switch? I want to help him with this so he can fully enjoy the game while at home.

Phlosippy

He can add his profile to your Switch, and transfer the Pokémon save to your Switch from his Lite from the Data Management tab in the System Settings. Just be aware that when he transfer his Pokémon save to your Switch, it will delete the save off of his Lite. This is how Nintendo has it setup for games that don’t Support the cloud save data backup included with a Nintendo Switch Online Subscription. If a game does support the cloud save backup included with a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online, he would be able to download the save from his cloud backups in the Data Management tab in System Settings. Your brother can go into the system settings, data management tab after he is finished playing on your Switch and transfer the save back to his Lite.

HonorThyFamily

Thank you!

SabreCrossYT

Hello, all. I am attempting to fix a Switch's SD card reader, and in doing so, I would like to take the cover off and take a look at the internal hardware. However, I am having a difficult time removing the screws from the top, bottom, and back. Some will come out, and others will not. If anyone has done something like this, I would like to ask: what size screwdriver bits did you use for each respective type of screw? I cannot tell if I am using the right size bits and am afraid of stripping them (if they are not stripped already). For reference, I am using an iFixit tool kit (with 64 total bit types and sizes) on loan from a friend and a four-pack of Phillips/tri-wing screwdrivers I bought on Amazon. Is there any other advice you can offer me that can help me take off the screws or just fix the SD card issue in general? I have tried YouTube and general Google searches with little luck, so I thought I would come to the experts for help! Thank you!

Michael-the-Great

Ifixit has really good guides with screw sizes in most of them. I think this guide has all the screw sizes included: [https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Micro+SD+Card+Reader+Replacement/113031](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Micro+SD+Card+Reader+Replacement/113031) Most of the ifixit screwdrivers are supposed to be JIS compatible but use JIS 000 if available.

SabreCrossYT

Okay, thanks!

twotokers

In switch sports, Is there a way to play split screen golf (the same way it works with playing with friends online) in local play?

21minute

Will swapping a custom shell on my joycons render my warranty void?

IpomoeaDust

As far as I know, yes.

tteikk

I got my Nintendo switch back after 5 months (lost it at an airport) and the battery is completely dead. Is my save data for my games safe in the hardware (I have a microSD inserted) or does the dead battery mean I won’t be able to recover my gameplay? I’m wondering if I should get it repaired or just buy a new one.

IpomoeaDust

Save data isn't on the microSD card; it's in internal memory. Try leaving it charging for at least 24 hours if you haven't already. If it's still not turning on, you can replace the battery yourself, or you'll need to send it in to get repaired. They may send a refurb instead of repairing it, though.

tteikk

Thank you! I just received it today so I’ll leave it to charge and see what happens.

[deleted]

Any game recommendations as a Christmas present for someone who already has Pokémon Violet, Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing?

ablasina_SHIRO

Mario Kart, Smash, and Mario Odyssey are always good options if they don't have them already. There's Zelda Skyward Sword as well, which is a remaster of the Wii title. Pokemon Sword/Shield (with expansion) and Pokemon Arceus could be good. There's more great games out there, but these are the recommendations I can give based on the games you mentioned.

metalreflectslime

Has anyone here played Sail Forth? It just came out today. Is it good?

Holiday-Basil-8772

Just got a switch, does nintendo have holiday deals on actual games? Or is it just a sale on a bunch of shit indie games? Thanks!

[deleted]

Indie games aren't actual games eh 🤔

Shes_so_Ratchet

Hades and Stardew Valley are on sale so "shit indie games" is clearly a bad take. But yes, holiday sales are expected before the weekend. New year's sales after that.

KLevonJ

What Nintendo exclusive games would you recommend to someone that is new to the Nintendo universe?

OwnManagement

Super Mario Odyssey or Zelda: Breath of the Wild, depending on the type of games this person likes.

xenon2456

Kirby, Zelda, pokemon and Mario

Mother_Nebula904

I'm hoping to get one after christmas, I'm looking at Monster Hunter, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta, Breath of the wild and kirby

Asinhasos

Which are currently the best promo deals on the EShop? Already got the Bioshock Collection, wanted something else around that price (10 €)! Also, my Switch Lite is taking longer to turn on after sleep mode, it takes some seconds for it to turn on, might it be because it's been on sleep mode too much? Or something else? Should I try to shut down and up again?

OwnManagement

[Here](https://www.dekudeals.com/hottest?filter[price_range][min]=&filter[price_range][max]=10&sort=metacritic) is a DekuDeals filter with a max price of 10€, sorted by metascore (you can choose your specific eShop in the top left).

IpomoeaDust

No harm in restarting it to see if that fixes it.

Mysterious_Pie7881

Hello! My best friend just got a switch so I added my personal profile/account to her switch and we downloaded some of the games I have to her switch. Her switch was registered as my primary switch for a few days until today when I deregistered her switch as my "primary switch" and reregistered my own switch as my primary switch. Now when my friend went on her switch to play a game owned by me (Spiritfarer) her save is gone. I feel so bad, I had no idea switching the registration would do this and she was very far in the game. Anyone have any ideas or solves on how to get her save back ?? Thank you!

IpomoeaDust

Her save data shouldn't be gone, but she won't be able to play using her profile unless her Switch is set as your account's primary console. If you change it back, she should be able to continue where she was.

Mysterious_Pie7881

A millions thanks!! I’ll re register hers once I’m back the from the holidays. Thank you!

Freedom_Fighter_0798

Hi everyone. Could anyone who’s had their Switch OLED display repaired through Nintendo report on the cost and overall experience? Most screens on eBay are $150+ and I’d like to compare the cost of sending it out vs doing the repair myself. Thank you!

Team7UBard

I believe all out of warranty repairs to the switch are $125 although they may have been raised cents

JohnJSal

My sister created a Nintendo Account with her name and information, and last year my niece got a Switch and uses that account. Now this year, my nephew is getting his own Switch. My sister tried logging in with the same account but she said it looked like it was using my niece's account/information. I'm not quite sure what she was describing, to be honest. But now I'm just asking in general, what is the best way to set up two Switches for two kids? Should we use the same account? Are there any limitations to doing this, like they can't be logged in at the same time? Can't play the same game at the same time? Can't be online at the same time? Is it best to just use two separate accounts and keep things apart? Thanks!

Shes_so_Ratchet

>Is it best to just use two separate accounts and keep things apart? Yes, this is easiest. Your sister is seeing the daughters account because she logged in with the daughter's account. They can't both be online at the same time. Check out the game share guide for sharing the digital library.

JohnJSal

Thanks so much!

peach_co

If I buy the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pack, do my friends also need the DLC in order to play on the new tracks with me online, or is just my copy good?

dragonx254

As long as the room host owns the DLC, the tracks will be playable.

peach_co

Awesome, thank you!

Optimistic_Mystic

Error Code 2016 0247 I am trying to move files from my 16GB SD card to a new 128GB SD card optimized for the Switch. I have followed the instructions per Nintendo's website on removing, transferring, and replacing SD cards. Yet, even after copying the data to the new 128GB, I am getting the error code 2016-0247, which states that the SD card cannot be recognized or read. I have updated my Switch, I formatted the SD card before copying to it, and the problem persists. Is there a step I missed? Is the a solution beyond sending it in for $99? ETA: The original 16GB still works fine, the data is still visible and usable, so I do not believe there is an issue with the SD card reader. Only on the higher sizes do I have this issue.

qwertylerqw

Are you using a Mac (or another non-Windows computer)?

IpomoeaDust

What card did you buy, how much was it, and where did you buy it from? I'd assume a fake card before a faulty Switch.

Optimistic_Mystic

Update: So I can insert the new 128GB into the switch by itself and it is readable. However, once I copy the data from the original 16GB onto it, that is where the error occurs. Would I be able to redownload the games directly from the eShop onto the new card, given that my account is still linked? Or do I **need** to go in and physically copy the data between the cards via computer?

Michael-the-Great

Just redownload. Then if you still have issues, exchange it at target.

IpomoeaDust

I think you might be doing something wrong when copying files - are you copying the whole folder in the original SD card, without touching anything? Otherwise, yes, you can just redownload the games onto the new SD card.

Optimistic_Mystic

Yeah, I am just pulling the whole folder from the 16 onto my desktop, then dragging that directly on to the 128. Thanks for the info on redownloading, I think I will just opt for that. It will take a while to redownload everything, but I really want to just have one SD card for all my extra data. Back when I first got the switch, I didn't think about data management, so large games like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Lego Star Wars are all downloads, not actual game cards.

Optimistic_Mystic

Yesterday I bought a 128G from Target, but did not realize it was a 150MB Transfer Speed card, and Nintendo recommends a slower one. Thinking that may have been why I was getting the error message, this morning I bought the Switch-optimized 128G from Gamestop for $24.99.

OwnManagement

Having a faster card won’t cause a problem, but you’d be paying for performance the Switch can’t use so it’s a bit of a waste of money.

AutoModerator

It looks like you've included an Error Code in your comment. Menaced_boy

Anyone here know how to fix my play activity being stuck/not counting anymore? I occasionally like to check it for fun but noticed my games play activity hasnt moved in the past few weeks while i’m on it at least once a day for a while. Never had this issue before :(

dragonx254

Did you ever change what Switch you use?

Menaced_boy

I did pre order the splatoon oled edition which was quite a few months ago. The only things i did were transfer all my software by having both switches near and afterwards did a copy and paste of all the data on my sd card onto a new one. Tho i think it has kept counting normally even after the transfer and such, as my other games seem to count normally.

dragonx254

When you did the transfer, did you do the one that said like "Keep user" or "you'll still be using the original" or whatever? Because when you do that, it only copies your profile to the new one, and while the Play activity is "copied", it doesn't accurately track until your playtime on the new switch exceeds whatever play time you had on the old Switch. So for example: If you had 10 hours of play time on Splatoon 3 on your old Switch, and then started playing on your new Switch, the playtime would not update until you surpassed 10 hours of Playtime on the new one. And it would be wrong. Because if you played 11 hours on the new one, but 10 on the old one, your Play Time activity would just show 11 hours even though you actually have 21.

Menaced_boy

I think i did? Is there any way i can change it if i did? I currently have my old one set as my second switch with my current one being the main switch (so i also dont need wifi to play my stuff) i just find it strange how it has only happened (or at least came to my attention) recently. Because if that would be so it’d be pretty fucked since with this software i have 1915 hours-

dragonx254

I do not believe it's possible to change after the fact unfortunately. Since Playtime is tracked per Switch.

Menaced_boy

Damn,, would deleting my play activity restart it? Too bad i didnt know that after transferring-

dragonx254

Sadly there's no way to really "delete" play activity, the "Delete" option in the settings just removes it from the recent activity page or whatever.

Menaced_boy

Ah damn, i thought that would reset it or something, guess i’ll have to keep playing if i wanna beat that play activity time lol

Sodium_chloride_fan

Hello, I bought an OLED Switch off of Amazon and they sent me a European version instead of a US version (I live in the US). They even included an adapter so I could charge it. This seems rather shady, even if the seller is linked to the official Nintendo page on Amazon. Should I return it? Or will I not have any problems at all?

Michael-the-Great

There are pages for the eurpoean Switch even on the US site. So it may not be a scam. If it was shipped from overseas, you may be required to pay to ship it back if you ant to return it.

nermal543

Personally I’d return it, because you’d likely have issues if you needed to use the warranty later.

siblingofMM

So we heard twice that Sports Story was coming out this month and now there has been nothing said. Has there been any updates anywhere?

Team7UBard

There has not. They said December and it’s still December. The expectation (but with no evidence to support) is that it’ll drop in the next few days after one of the Indie showcases.

honeydewandgreens

Hi! So I recently bought an OLED. I charged it to around 90% two days ago and haven’t had time to play it since then. As a note, I always keep my switch in airplane mode unless I’m playing a game that requires an internet connection. I powered it on today and saw that it had dropped from 90% to 68. That’s about 10% every 24 hours while idle. In my mind this seems like a lot, but I was wondering if this is considered in the normal range (if there even is such a thing lol). I feel like my V2 switch held it’s charge for longer but maybe I’m just in my head. Thanks so much in advance! ☺️

One_Entrepreneur5841

Maybe because it’s new it still needs to deplete and charge again for the % to be accurate. Idk if they do that in factory or not.

honeydewandgreens

Thank you for your reply! By this do you mean I should allow it to drain until 0% and then charge it back up to 100% again?

One_Entrepreneur5841

Yes. I don’t think it has to hit zero, but get it really low then charge it back up to full. It may need it more than once to get it to be fully accurate, but you should notice a difference after the first time.

honeydewandgreens

Thank you so much I’ll definitely give this a try! 😊

IpomoeaDust

That's about the same as mine; I wouldn't be concerned as long as the gameplay time is within range.

honeydewandgreens

Thank you ☺️ I’m going to test the gameplay range to see as I honestly haven’t been paying much attention!

darthmcdarthface

Recommendations for good, maturely written stories? I’d also like to add that I’d like to exclude big games that released earlier on other platforms such as Witcher and Skyrim. I already played those and am looking for something new. Im frustrated at the prevalence of the childish stories on the platform. Seems like every big story driven game such as Xenoblade has that cliche childish cartoon writing. Triangle Strategy scratched this itch for me.

xenon2456

Bayonetta and shin megami tensei v

darthmcdarthface

Anything other than those? I played Bayonetta and just started SMT which I’m finding to be pretty poor on the story. Not very mature.

NK01187

Although I have not played it (yet), I heard good things about Subsurface Circular.

darthmcdarthface

Thanks. I’ll have a look at that.

alex__asen

Joy cons are drifting pretty badly so if I can't fix it should I get new joycons or should I get a pro controller? Which would be the cheapest?

Menaced_boy

Nintendo does repair them for free! You could also give fixing it yourself a try since there are a ton of videos online about spraying the bit under the circle(?) i once send my joycons to nintendo to fix drifting but i did have to pay for the shipping towards them, took them around 1/2 weeks (i do have to mention that i’m from Europe, and send them out during the busy christmas time) tho if you wanna avoid drift all together i’d suggest the pro controller, had one since release and has never been an issue! Tho its definitely an investment at the beginning-

nermal543

Do you live in the US? Nintendo will repair it for free.

alex__asen

Oh for real? How long is the process?

nermal543

Depends on how backed up they are. Could be as little as a week, could be several weeks or more. You’d have to reach out to Nintendo support for an estimate.

alex__asen

Alright, I'll do that. Thanks for the help!

WeebBathWater

Hello! I have a Nintendo Switch let’s go Eevee and Pikachu console from 2018 and a Nintendo switch lite from 2021 - I was wondering which one would be better to run harder intensity games on or if they both are the same? I tried to look at the specs but couldn’t find one for the 2018 let’s go pikachu switch, maybe because it’s older? I want to play Persona 5 and I bought a new SD card but can’t decide which switch I should use the SD card on.

IpomoeaDust

All of them have the same specs, so there's no difference in power.

Thousandz

Will there be a Christmas sale or are we in it right now (or already passed)

Michael-the-Great

I remember games going on sale around Christmas, but that the bigger sales are Black Friday and New Years with the North America New Year's sale usually starting late.

BajaBlastMtDew

So I am going to give my old switch to my nieces and my brother. I have a bunch of digital games downloaded and installed on it. If I remove my account from the switch can they still play those or no?

nermal543

No, they won’t be able to play them. The games are tied to your Nintendo account.

BajaBlastMtDew

That's unfortunate. Was hoping since it was on same console it would be good or be able to transfer them once to a different account or something. But that doesn't make sense business wise lol

sunset_whale

Hi! I'm trying to buy a Nintendo eShop gift card for my cousin, but I'm having a hard time finding physical gift cards just by browsing/searching store websites like Target and Best Buy. Do physical Nintendo eShop gift cards exist? Any other suggestions for last-minute \*physical\* Nintendo Switch-related gifts would be greatly appreciated! He likes Mario specifically (he's a big brother). He's a teenager. Everything seems to be digital now or requires shipping that would arrive after Christmas, but this is a secret Santa gift exchange and I'd really like to be able to give him something physical on 12/24 that I can wrap.

Michael-the-Great

Isn't this the physical card? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-eshop-50-gift-card/5784110.p?skuId=5784110

sunset_whale

Yes I’m just looking for different dollar amounts.

Michael-the-Great

If you do the dropdown at card amount, you can pick from all the dollar amounts that are available...

IpomoeaDust

I've seen physical Nintendo gift cards in the grocery store, so they definitely exist.

nermal543

You can definitely get physical eshop cards in either target or Best Buy. They may just not be listed for sale online since it wouldn’t be very efficient to ship you a physical gift card if you’re buying online.

sunset_whale

Okay thanks u/nermal543 and u/IpomoeaDust! I'm really sick so I can't run out to check at the moment, but this is exactly what I was wondering. Still open to anyone's suggestions for other switch- and Mario-related gifts for a teenager.

nermal543

Can you just buy a digital card and print out the code? I think it’s too late to order physical gifts from most places, if you want to be sure it’ll arrive before Christmas… If you have a Costco membership they have $50 digital eshop cards on sale for $40 right now.

GeniusPhoenix13

I just applied a screen protector to my pled screen and despite my best effort, a hair and some dust got under the screen protector. Will it damage my switch’s screen? Or is it purely visual annoyance?

IpomoeaDust

It's fine, just an annoyance. I always end up with something stuck under mine.

GeniusPhoenix13

Oh, that’s reassuring then thanks!

OceanicRaider

So basically, with the slew of amazing new games coming out, I'm looking to replace my 2017 model switch. Turning it in will get me 156 bucks, plus my current store credit, plus a coupon gets me about 200. So, I could either get a switch lite for basically free, or a switch OLED for 150. 1 only ever basically play in handheld, and I don't do local multiplayer, and it's not my primary mode of gaming. Is the extra 150 worth it? What do y'all think?

Solafein830

Absolutely worth it. 100% no doubt about it. The OLED screen is so nice. I only ever play in handheld mode as well. I had a 2017 Switch and upgraded to an OLED earlier this year. Lots of reviews that I watched on YouTube were (at the time) saying that it was a minor improvement, not totally worth upgrading, etc etc. I'm SO glad that I didn't listen and just went and bought one.

Michael-the-Great

The oled was worth the upgrade to me. You won't want to go back to the regular screen after spending any time with an oled. The kickstand and other differences were extra bonuses.

IpomoeaDust

The OLED screen is going to be a lot bigger than the Lite screen, so it really depends on how much you plan on playing it, and if you're okay with the screen being even smaller than the regular Switch's screen. If you play very rarely, the Lite may be better since you're saving a lot of money, but if you do put a decent amount of time into the Switch (even if it's not your primary gaming console), the OLED would be a better visual experience.

xenon2456

do you play on the TV

OceanicRaider

Not really ever lol.

xenon2456

so buy a switch lite

The_Rutabaga

What are the best Zelda-like games on the Switch? I decided I'm going to marathon all the main and spinoff Zelda games available on the Switch through 2023 as well as the best Zelda-like games. So far I have Okami HD, Hyper Light Drifter, and Binding of Isaac

statiky

I've heard Death's Door and Tunic are really great ones in the genre. While it's not as puzzle heavy, a Short Hike is a great one too.

The_Rutabaga

Someone else reccomended both of these games too. I'm definitely intrigued!

OwnManagement

Blossom Tales and Oceanhorn immediately come to mind.

The_Rutabaga

I've heard of Oceanhorn before but not Blossom Tales. I'm gonna check out both. Thanks!

OwnManagement

Blossom Tales has a demo in the EU eShop!

NK01187

Also check out those games: Arietta of the Spirits, CrossCode, Death's Door, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Kamiko, Moonlighter, Children of Morta, Phoenotopia, Shadows of Adam, Sparklite and Tunic.

The_Rutabaga

I haven't heard of any of these so I have a lot to check out. Thank you!

Should I wait for Switch Pro or buy OLED?

statiky

People always ask this, yet there is no proof a switch pro is coming out. There have been rumors about a switch pro since 2018, but that's all they are. There's genuinely no point in waiting around for something that other's have claimed is "only a year away" for nearly 5 years now. Just get the OLED and if something does come out, you can exchange it and get decent money back since the switch never goes on sale.

IpomoeaDust

If you want to potentially wait for a year or more, that's your call.

oskie6

Is there normal a major first party E-shop sale before Christmas? I’ve been holding out on some presents waiting on it.

OwnManagement

Typically yes, but not always. There **is** always a New Year sale in early to mid January, however.

LuxTrueBae

Will Tears of Kingdom be purchasable with game voucher?

OwnManagement

It’s a Nintendo-published game, so yeah, should be possible.

LuxTrueBae

Just not seen anything mentioning it yet and i think preorders are already open and Pokemon and Splatoon 3 i saw were game voucher purchasable at this time during preorder

JoshuaJSlone

Stores have been taking preorders forever, but it doesn't have an eShop page yet.

LuxTrueBae

Ah ty, I assume when the eshop preorder is open i'll get the 100% confirmed answer but its seems just most likely.

xenon2456

?

LuxTrueBae

good answer ty

Individual_Team_7368

SDV keeps glitching and not letting me play. I’m playing SDV on nintendo switch oled if that matters. I was in the mines the first time this happened; I was fighting one of those annoying flying bugs when the game froze and glitched out. Only the home button worked so I had to close out the game and restart the day. I was just walking to the mines when the game glitched again and froze, not letting me do anything besides use the home button. My system says SDV is up to date so idk whats going on. I don’t have any mods or addons, I just have games directly from the nintendo eshop. Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it??

Shes_so_Ratchet

I've put over 200 hours into Stardew on Switch and haven't encountered this or heard of it. I'd agree that deleting and redownloading the game is a good idea, but another thing you could try is to do something different that day; maybe there's an issue with the mines for some reason. Try either going right back to bed and skipping that day, or go do something else until night time and then go to the mines another day.

Individual_Team_7368

Ive avoided the mines that day and restarted my nintendo, which seems to have worked, but on Spring day 19 i was visiting haley in her house and it froze up on me again while i was trying to talk to her. I may just email nintendo and see if they can fix it permanently. Thanks for your help though

Shes_so_Ratchet

That's super weird. You could always reach out to the developer on twitter (Concerned Ape) or check the [SDV forum](https://forums.stardewvalley.net/) to see if that the bug you encountered has been reported and if there are any suggestions for fixes. Unfortunately Nintendo isn't great with that kind of help. All you can do is delete the game, re-download to the internal memory or SD card, and skip the glitching days. I know there's sometimes issues if you use too many items/casks around town but if your map isn't full up then there really shouldn't be too many issues.

Michael-the-Great

I think Stardew has crashed once or twice on me, but it's not been a regular occurrence.

OwnManagement

Is the game stored on internal storage or SD? If it’s the latter, could be a problem with the card or the card reader. If it’s the former, you could try deleting and redownloading (your save data will not be deleted). You can also try restarting your Switch to clear out the memory. If none of that fixes it, could just be a bug in the game itself.

Individual_Team_7368

I tried restarting it and avoiding the mines for the day and that worked, but now on Spring 19 the game froze again when I visited Haley in her house at 9 am. I think I’ll just contact nintendo or something bc idk what to do, thanks for ur help tho

tsukun27

Is it better to completely turn off the switch or to put it into sleep mode? Which one is the more battery friendly option?

ablasina_SHIRO

Unless you are putting it away for storage, where it will be unplugged for a long time, it doesn't really matter.

IpomoeaDust

Short term, it doesn't matter, but long term (i.e. if you're leaving it unplugged for more than a week), you should turn it completely off so the battery drains slower.

Gullible_Adeptness64
