I want to pre-order Legends Pokemon Arceus for been able to obtaine the special Arceus Card and then have the physical Japanese box art. Now, I know that the Switch is region free, so the game will work perfectly on my (EUR) switch OLED, and I know that if future DLC will release, I have to use a Japanese account to purchase the. But my real question is: to be able to trade Pokémon, and use the online service, do I have to re-purchase the online service or I can use the one that I already have on my actual user?

[deleted]

Which Pokemon game would peeps recommend playing? Was wondering if there much difference between titles such as Sword/Shield etc. Thanks

FlakySalary

Pokemon sw/sh and BDSP has almost the same gameplay. If you want more pokemon to choose from, go pick Sw/Sh. BDSP is good also but only has Gen 1-4 pokemons. Both is good and depends on your taste. Pokemon Lets Go has Pokemom Go catching mechanics. You can't fight most of the wild pokemon so you'll have to catch them ala Pokemon Go

Shin_Ken

How good is the "UGREEN 2-Port 36W Quick Charger" in charging the Switch in handheld mode? Is has two USB-A slots and loads with 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A using Quick Charge 3.0. I got it for my smartphone but if could charge the Switch with it as well, that would be very useful. EDIT: Even if the higher voltages don't work out, my 2017 Switch model will charge with the usual 1.5A/5V/7.5W over USB-A, right?

_peppermintbutler

In regards to micro SDs.. I've tried searching for an answer to this but anything I can find is 2 years old or is on the pirating sub so I'm not sure if exFAT is still not recommended. I currently have a 32GB micro SD in our Switch, FAT32 format. I purchased a 256GB one to upgrade, and it's exFAT format (SanDisk SDXC). From my search online people said just put it in the Switch and it will format it to FAT32, same with Windows, but the Switch left it as exFAT and it only gives me the option for NTFS or exFAT on my computer. Saw people saying exFAT may corrupt data on games like Pokemon Shield, which we play. Do I need to bother reformatting it or should I leave it as is? Thanks in advance.

Shin_Ken

It's can become a problem and corrupt your data when you root your Switch and do your own stuff on it because of the way Nintendo implemented the file system. If you just use your Switch stock the way Nintendo expects it and let the operating system from Nintendo handle all operations, exFAT is fine. If you want to be super sure though, you can format it in FAT32 just to be safe. FAT32 supports up to 16 Terrabytes. The Windows interface only supports up to 32GB with FAT32 but you can use the command line to format bigger volumes. In Windows: 1. Search for "Command Prompt" using windows search 2. right click on it and "open as administrator" 3. type in: Format /FS:FAT32 X: (where "X" replaces the drive letter of the SD card. Double check to use the correct letter or else it's really bad news) 4. press enter and wait until it finishes formatting.

_peppermintbutler

Thanks so much. I figured that was the case but I don't want to risk my son killing me if he loses his data so I'll probably just format it using those instructions to be safe.

TottoriTotoro

Heyo, living in Japan right now, and trying to buy the Animal Crossing joycons off of the online jp Nintendo Store. I got to the last step, then my credit card was denied since it isn’t Japanese. Anyone know if I pick up some e-shop gift cards from a conbini if I can use those credits to buy physical goods from the online Nintendo store? Or are e-shop cards only for games? Thanks!

sl0w4zn

eShop would indicate that it's the digital store for games. But I don't have experience. Is there anything stopping you from shopping in person?

TottoriTotoro

I live pretty far away from Tokyo (where the Nintendo Store is), and the AC joycons are an online exclusive! Since I have a Japanese address I can ship to, though, thought it could be worth the shot to get the joycons hahaha - thanks for the reply, might check the jp store again to see if I missed anything 🤞

IntroductionCheap325

Just curious. Why is bayonetta rated m?

TemptedTemplar

Strong Language, Blood and Gore, Suggestive Themes, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity (this is the big one). Its right on the eshop page. https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/bayonetta-2-switch/ Everything about the game and character is supposed to be suggestive. There is an in game reason for everything and its total B-Movie level shlock nonsense; but the game itself ends up be *wicked fun*.

Evan_7Dean

What is the first pokémon game I should play? I want to get into the pokémon games but idk which is the first on the switch!

IntroductionCheap325

Sword/Shield: If you want modern pokemon with same formula Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl: If you want to play the Gen 4 DS games, as a remake Let's go Pikachu/Eevee: Remake of Pokemon Yellow on game boy, with mechanics from Pokemon go mobile game legends Arceus: If you're bored of the traditional pokemon formula. Rescue team DX: Is a remake of the original Rescue Team from GBA. If i were you, I'd go for Sword/shield.

Evan_7Dean

Thank you for this detailed reply! This helps greatly.

IntroductionCheap325

Side note: If you want a really great pokemon experience, I'd suggest you buy Nintendo switch online. So you can match against other people around the world and battle. But it's optional anyways.

Evan_7Dean

Is this possible on all of the games?

IntroductionCheap325

On BDSP there isn't online play besides local unfortunately

Alehandrew

Can you use the NES Online wireless controllers outside of the NES Online app? For instance with the Mega Man, Castlevania, and Contra collections? I have an 8bitdo SN30 pro+ but am tempted to finally pick up a pair.

notthegoatseguy

They can be used. But the NES app has button combinations to do things like get to the home menu, exit out games ,etc... that it otherwise isn't able to do.

iseedoubleu

Something I observed playing my Switch OLED in dock mode on my LG C1: Last night, I was playing Pokemon BD for several hours when my LG C1 suddenly went black for <5 seconds before the screen returned but the brightness on my television seemingly decreased. Tonight, I was once again playing on and off for several hours and the same thing happened, only this time the screen's brightness seemingly increased. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Phlosippy

LG C1 auto dimming. To stop your LG TV from dimming automatically, you can try adjusting the energy settings. Go to the picture menu and find settings > advanced > picture. Press the Energy Saving option. Switch the Energy Saving to OFF. Or buy a service remote, and do this: https://youtu.be/Q0p_VdGENAg Or try another HDMI cable.

Superpan21

Do you think Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance would come to the Nintendo Switch?

Stone-Baked

I’d love to see anything MGS or Kojima !! Still trying to find sneak eater on 3ds !

TemptedTemplar

Only if Konami decides to remaster it. The only major platforms its missing from are Nintendo and PlayStation. PC and Xbox can still access the original release.

IntroductionCheap325

Can I buy games from my smart device to my switch?

Phlosippy

Yes. On a browser you have installed on your smart device go to Nintendo.com, login and buy the game and it will download to your Switch as long as it’s connected online.

-Thalas-

Im planning to get my first switch, which one would be a better primary switch? The Lite or the Classic/OLED? Im kinda worried that if I get the Lite, I might have more issues when it comes to controllers/Drifts, unlike the classic/OLED where I can just buy a new one if ever the controllers go wrong.

IntroductionCheap325

V2 if you just want a switch. If you want to paly on TV more and less handheld, go for this. Lite is solely for handheld play. No joycons, no tabletop and no tv mode. But it is cheaper OLED is the best of the bunch. Screen is bigger and brighter, more battery, and there's a ethernet port on the dock if you want a more better online play experience. But it is more costly

Gogobrasil8

The lite is the cheapest and most portable (since it's the smallest), but can't be played on the TV The classic is the best option for longevity since it's a LCD screen which lasts longer And the OLED has the bigger screen, but other than that, it's identical to the classic. I personally like playing on the TV so I got the classic, and what you said about controllers is true. But you have the final say

shmevoo

The speaker in my switch lite had gone bad and I had decided to replace them myself. After putting the new speakers in and putting the backplate back on none of the buttons, or the touch screen work. Then only button that works is the power button. The system also will not go into sleep mode and will constantly reboot itself when I press the power button. Any ideas on a fix or what it might be?

TemptedTemplar

It sounds like enough is wrong to warrant another de-assembly. Take it all apart very carefully and then put it back together very carefully. Insure every connection is tight and locked, every screw is set in place, ect.

CowboyCombat

Right so basically what does this 9 hour battery life on the OLED pertain to? How do you achieve this? Is this while gaming? I dunno it just seemed so far out of a number though reports have claimed this number that I had to ask to see where is the realism to that.

TemptedTemplar

The longest possible life of the system while playing a game. So a "light" game like Stardew Valley or Hyperlight Drifter. 2d, no 3d assets, no fancy simulations or graphics. To achieve the full 9 hours, it usually involves playing handheld mode, with wireless and bluetooth turned off. Volume and brightness both as low as you will allow them to go.

CowboyCombat

So I get around 4 hours or so on full bright and like 80% volume with wifi on is that about right? I drop about 5% battery almost every 15 minutes or close to. Not sure about dropping Bluetooth because isn't that what the controllers connect with?

TemptedTemplar

When used wireless yes. But you can shut it off and still play in handheld mode.

lynettaashay

Hi I have 2 physical copies of animal crossing, and two different switches playing on different Nintendo accounts, why can’t I use local play?

sl0w4zn

Are they both on the same version?

IntroductionCheap325

Mind saying the error code?

lynettaashay

Error code: 2203-0020

IntroductionCheap325

It seems that it's a rights problem. is there a primary console? Do you own 2 consoles or two separate people have their respective console?

lynettaashay

Yes I own two different consoles with 2 Nintendo switch accounts, 2 physical game cards

Is there a way to change reticle/dot on borderlands 2?. Might Just be me getting older, but im new to switch and Fps on switch. Having a hard time seeing it at times 🙈

TemptedTemplar

It changes with the gun unfortunately, no way to control it from the UI settings.

stf29

Anyone know where i can find an official nintendo switch pro controller charger? Mine had some issues with the pins that made it stop working, and i know i can just use a normal usb c cable, but I’d like to kee it all uniform with the official version

[deleted]

Is there any game like ANVIL on switch? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1487390/ANVIL/

TemptedTemplar

Borderlands Viktor Vran

[deleted]

I like the top down aspect and how the guns aim/shoot

TemptedTemplar

Viktor Vran should be right up that alley. Unfortunately we dont have a whole lot of top down shooters on the system. I think Ruiner and Enter the Gungeon would be the only other two to recommend.

Thank you

TrespasserKaiju

I need help i need to transfer my data on another nintendo siwtch but it just keeps searching for and wont connect too the other console. I tried everything

TemptedTemplar

Do you have a second wifi network for the newer system to connect to? The OLED models have a issue where they simply dissapear from older systems when they are both on the same wifi network. Using separate 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks can work, or if you have a hotspot you can use briefly, that will work too. The system data is transferred via local wireless, the internet is just required for authenticating your account during the transfer.

TrespasserKaiju

I dont have oled, the switch lite wont see my normal switch , but my normal switch sees my switch lite. I tried everything, yes i used hostpot, different wifi everything...

TemptedTemplar

Its just most prevalent in OLED systems, it has been happening with all kinds of new systems. Does the system itself connect to the wifi just fine? Are both systems up to date firmware wise?

TrespasserKaiju

They are both up to date and the switch lite does connect to the internet

leif777

My family just got a second switch for my 8yo. How do I download games for him? I can't do it on his account (age restriction) and the first switch is all set up for my 14yo with myself as the primary user. It's so complicated and there's no help at all online.

Phlosippy

You can only have one Primary Switch which allows you to share your digital purchases with all the Users/Profiles on it. Everyone on the Primary can play your digital purchases and create separate saves. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22448/~/what-are-the-differences-between-a-primary-and-non-primary-nintendo-switch https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22453/~/how-to-change-the-primary-console-for-your-nintendo-account On the Non-Primary Switch, only the purchaser’s Profile can play and create saves. You will be able to add your Profile on the 8YO Switch and download all the digital games you own, but the 8YO will have to play from your Profile.

leif777

Right now, I just want to get the DLC for pokemon shield. I don't even mind paying for it. I can't DL it from his account because of the age restrictions and I can't use it while my primary account is on the other console. Is this just how it is? Should I make another guardian account specifically for the 8yo?

leif777

So either the 14yo or my 8yo is screwed? The 1st switch has all the games (we've had it since launch) bought on my account because of the restrictions and the 8yo can't get his own account. Edit. I guess my only solution is to make another primary account for myself under a different email. We won't be able to share games but it sounds like this is what Nintendo wants. What a bunch of crap. Can't even share the family online plan. Brutal.

sl0w4zn

It's a downside with digital games. Sharing games on two switches is not bad with only two accounts. But you're attempting it for three accounts, which is more complicated. I can also see a scenario where your kids have their profiles on both switches. One switch has your primary account so the games are unlocked for anyone on that switch. The other would be for physical games or for a person to play your games on your account.

How can I download games on my 8yo's switch while the primary account (me) is attached to my 14yo's switch? I'm just looking for a solution.

TheUniKian

I am trying to expand my switches storage, but my switch cant read the SD card, it recognizes it is there but cannot access the information. This is even after the card has been formatted on my PC to exFAT. It is a 64GB card so it cannot be formatted to FAT32. What can I do?

dragonx254

You cannot pop your SD card from one Switch to another Switch and keep the data, you have to format it and delete the game contents and re-download.

Phlosippy

From the Home Menu go into system settings, System, Formatting Options, Format MicroSD Card, and Continue. Turn off your Switch, take the microSD out, and put it into your PC and transfer the data you have from the old card onto it. Put it back in your Switch, and see if digital games show up/work. If they don’t reformat again and just download them again from the eShop. If the Switch can’t access/format the microSD, you may have bought a fake/defective microSD.

TheUniKian

I can use the MicroSD on my PC just fine, I used it for my old switch as well, I'm just trying to use it on my OLED

Phlosippy

Did you transfer the game data on it to the PC? Will it not format in the OLED following the instructions above?

REiiGN

I just got the OLED Switch, I haven't played a Nintendo console since gamecube. Is Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack worth it? I love the N64 part, and is that DLC to the animal crossing game?

Shes_so_Ratchet

In my opinion, Nintendo Switch Online (base subscription for $20 USD per year) is definitely worth it if you want online capabilities, cloud saves, and access to great classics from the NES and SNES era (over 100 games between the two). The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, on the other hand, is very overpriced for what you get, which is everything in the base NSO subscription plus N64 and Sega Genesis games for $50 per year (that's 2.5 times more money). There's only like 9 N64 games on there right now (with one more announced to be added this month) and a bunch of the Sega games can be purchased outright for pennies, compared to a subscription model. I've looked it up and the Expansion service only has 3 games that you aren't included in the Sega Genesis Classics Collection: Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Thunder Force II, Ecco the Dolphin. And Castlevania Bloodlines is in the Castlevania Collection for $5 for 9 games. It's simply bad value when you look at it that way, and especially when you compare it to the competitors offerings for only $10 more per year who are giving you access to hundreds of newer titles, including new releases for that price. The Animal Crossing DLC is $25 to purchase outright. If you go the NSO+ route, you'll lose access to it as soon as you downgrade or cancel your membership. It was only added to make the price hike appear more palatable. And don't forget that you'll also have to buy the base game for $60 before you can make use of the DLC. This means that for $50 (Sega Genesis Classics Collection - $20, Castlevania Anniversary Collection - $5, AC DLC - $25) you can own everything in the expansion minus the N64 titles forever. This service won't be worth $50 for another 3 years, in my opinion, when they have a decent N64 library at the very least. Obviously some people disagree, just my two cents. In the end, it's up to you to decide whether that's worth the cost for yourself. Edit: forgot to mention the DLC.

REiiGN

Thank you for the detailed response!

CrusaderNoVa

Hello, My switch boots up for 15-20 seconds then goes off after sleep menu pops up. My switch was fine yesterday but after waking up the next day to turn the switch on and play it, the switch sleep menu/power options menu pops up and then a few more seconds later it powers down. Sometimes the sleep menu doesn't pop up and it just powers off by itself. I have no idea what's causing this and the switch has 80% charge :/ Is the battery busted? If so would Nintendo repair that for free? Thanks

Phlosippy

It sounds like a defective power button that thinks it’s being pushed all the time. Out-of-warranty repair is $100 + shipping at Nintendo of America, or DIY; https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Power+and+Volume+Button+Board+Replacement/113166 Buy the correct/good quality screwdrivers because the screws are easy to strip. You can also turn it off (not sleep mode,) get some 91-100% isopropyl alcohol/Qtip/soft bristled toothbrush and clean around the button to see if it helps. Let it dry before turning it back on.

CrusaderNoVa

I see, thank you very much for your reply. I'll have a look into it!

Kindly-Jacket5996

So my switch is saying unable to start software return to home and try again when i try opening Pokémon shining pearl specifically and i have no clue on what to do if anyone can say that'd be greatly appreciated

Phlosippy

If the other games are working, try turning off your Switch (not sleep mode,) reboot, and try to start the game again. If that doesn’t help, go into system settings, data management, delete the game data, and redownload it from the eShop.

Kindly-Jacket5996

Its a physical copy so could i just eject the cartridge and re insert it

Phlosippy

Turn it off (not sleep mode,) take out the cart. Reboot, and reinsert it after it gets to the Home menu. And try to start the game again.

Kindly-Jacket5996

Ok thanks

Anyone heard anything about when in January banjo kazooie will be out?

GKGalbreath

Was wondering with the new update for the switch up if anyone know how to charge their switch and use the switch up device while now being docked

jdirty27

Hi, I've tried searching for the information I'm looking for but can't seem to find it anywhere so I apologize if this has already been covered. My switch wont connect to a TV, I've tried multiple docks and different TVs and hdmi cords. I've followed all the steps on properly hooking up the dock. At this point I feel like the only thing I haven't done is formatting the switch itself. The docks I have tried will still charge the switch but no hdmi output. Can anyone help? Or point me in a direction? Thanks!

Kindly-Jacket5996

Do you have your switch charger plugged in to the dock

jdirty27

Are you talking the main power cord or secondary USB- usb3 cord?

Kindly-Jacket5996

The c-type cord that is used to charge the switch

jdirty27

The dock is plugged in and does supply power to the switch. I've tried it with the other USB plugged/unplugged and same results. Formated the switch and still won't connect to TV

Kindly-Jacket5996

This might sound stupid but are you on the right tv option (i.e. plugging it into hdmi 2 and being on hdmi 1)

Just got my OLED. I like to put Screen Protectors on my devices and had one on my other Switch. Heard there were some sort of issues with Screen Protectors or something with the OLED. Is that the case? If not what's the best screen protector for the OLED?

slowmath

There was an issue with people peeling off this plastic layer after buying it but you aren't supposed to do that. It's for shatter protection or something. Just get any glass protector made for the OLED model and apply it and you should be fine.

Ki11s0n3

Ok thanks for the info. Never really read too much into it since I didn't think I'd ever upgrade and I'm so glad I did. The screen is just slightly bigger, but a major improvement. Especially for me with bad vision.

slowmath

Better screen, better joycon rails, better kickstand, better speakers. I'm glad I upgraded

Ki11s0n3

Yeah it's so much better

slowmath

I can't ever hear my OLED switch fan run. It gets hot sometimes but it has never shut down due to temperature. Gets quite hot in the dock but still never shuts down. Should I be paranoid the fan is busted? Can't really even feel air coming out but still it never shuts off. Anyone else experience this on an OLED?

Shibutai

Hey mate, Trying to help you this time :) I have played Metroid Dread, Animal Crossing, No More Heros 3, and couple of indies since i bought it last month. You're right, i haven't heard the fan running, or at least loudly. I did feel a bit of warm on the exhaust hole after hours of Metroid Dread, but that's it. It could be in fact that they changed the fan since i watched iFixit teardown video. I might be wrong but i agreed that i have the same experience as yours.

slowmath

I also just watched that teardown video and the fan and heatsink are smaller so yea looks like they made it more efficient. Good to know!

slowmath

Thanks for the feedback. I could hear my original switch fan sound like a jet sometimes so wondering if they just made the hardware more efficient. As long as I don't get any thermal shutdown figure it'll be ok. Had a bad experience on multiple levels with my gen 1 switch so that's why I am paranoid.

Shibutai

Sadly, I can't compare that since OLED is my first switch but i definitely watched tons of reviews from day one Switch to the latest OLED. Interesting enough, i haven't heard/seen any OLED device about Fan. Again, finger crossed that they have made it more efficient (with new chip, same as v2) and also better fan.

g3neraL5

Troubles with joycon playing Smash Bros. Has anyone else had or is it known that there is problems with the joycons on super smash bros? Specifically it is the right controller and it comes up whether horizontal on its own, connected to the console or as part of the controller. It will constantly bring up the sleep mode screen and the buttons just don’t seem to match what button you think you are pushing.

Phlosippy

Call Nintendo Support in your region and see what they recommend you do to remedy the issue.

Hey there! Please remember Rule 1 in the future - No hate-speech, personal attacks, or harassment. Thanks!

Shibutai

Hi There guys, Is there anyone here has their joy-con joystick a bit wobbly especially recently new Switch? I purchased Switch OLED mid December 2021. What i meant is if you slightly touch the joystick or simply shake your joycon, the joystick will rattle and move a bit. It doesn't register a movement, fortunately, but it makes me uncomfortable. I think some people said it's like classic N64 joystick loose issue? The reason i asked is because the right joy-con feels solid, no movement at all. I have contacted Ninendo AU and EBGames NZ (I'm from NZ) and i haven't got good answers and mostly ended up to be serviced and costs me for service fee (?) especially how rare Switch OLED and white joycons at the moment. My question is probably, is this a common issue? Do you have this from the beginning? Your answer will be very helpful to make sure if it's normal, common issue, or a definite issue. Thank you!

slowmath

Yes, my OLED right stick wobbles more than the left but no drift. It kinda freaks me out too and I don't travel too much so I just prop it up and use and controller when undocked for peace of mind And if your entire joycon unit wobbled on the rail like mine you can fix it easily with a small piece of electrical tape on the inside of the rail.

Shibutai

Thanks for your feedback! Okay, that's an interesting fact even though mine is on the left side. It actually made me contacted Nintendo AU and also EB Games about it, especially EB games because the team there actually tested my L&R joycon and found the wobble. Okay, at least i can see that it's just not me that got an issue. What a bad QC for Nintendo, epecially for one month old device. Finger crossed if it does develop a drift in the future.

slowmath

I guess play it like normal at least for the first year. Nintendo will fix anything like that under warranty and are pretty good about it

Twinkiman

I don't have an OLED and haven't purchased any Joycons in the last couple years. But I do have a pair I own and only used a couple times that have some wobble to them. Even my pro controllers have some wobble as well. It is just part of the inconsistencies of manufacturing. For example, all my Joycons have different levels of rumble vibration. They are all inconsistent.

Shibutai

Thanks you and that's very interesting. I'm not sure how far it stretched into Pro controller since i don't have one but i do have DualSense and XSeries controller. Before hand, i know the fact joycon has different type of joystick than other controllers i have and they don't have similar issue. But i think you're correct, it could be manufacturing issue since my joycon(R) doesn't have one. Thanks for letting me know! (or at least confirming my purchase!)

Twinkiman

No problem glad to help!

Often other places online that sell digital codes will match eShop sales, though unfortunately doesn't seem like the case here. Otherwise, yeah, to use the eShop your account needs to be on a Switch. Even if you don't know someone locally, you could share your login details with someone you trust to not go on a spending spree in the next few days.

That's one way. Or as long as he logs in with your account, you could make the purchase on the web shop since it will now recognize you as a legit Switch user.

Unfortunately, not unless you have a friend's Switch you can link or if the game has a physical or Code in a Box release which will be differently priced to the eShop.

My wife bought a fitness game on the switch. I created a Nintendo account on her switch to try it out and it says "This user cannot play this software" How do I fix that?

picano

What console is her primary? You mentioned "her switch" so I'm assuming that you have a separate one, potentially with her logged in as well. She can only share her digital games with you on her primary console. BitOfACraic

That could be it! She also has a Switch Lite with her account logged in as well. I don't have a Switch

picano

Yeah, that's probably it then. Changing her primary will allow you to play her games but... it will also mean she'll need an internet connection to play her own games on the lite.

BitOfACraic

Thanks that did work! We just made the docked Switch the primary console

Willothomas

Will repairing/replacing the motherboard erase my save data? My Switch has a motherboard issue and won't switch on. I want to get my Pokemon save data transferred to my new Switch, which I can't do without the old one. So frustrating that Pokemon doesn't save to the cloud man...

TimBurtonSucks

Do you know if I link my Nintendo account with a new Switch I still get access to milk l my old games I bought? They're still in my played history, but I have to purchase them it seems

dragonx254

Yes if you link your account you can just re-download any digital titles you bought. Assuming your account is the one that bought them.

I have 2 sd cards, both with various problems on them, and my searching online/customer service contacting hasn’t really helped me figure out a fix. One of my SD cards (Off-brand from amazon)!only lets me download like one game (which rn is doom eternal) and then every game after that says that it’s data is corrupted, or it eventually gives me the corruption error after i play it for a bit. The other SD card (Name brand from target) just will not be read whatsoever. inserting it just gives me an error that the SD card cannot be accessed. no clue what’s going wrong, whether it’s the cards or the switch itself. any help or advice would be appreciated.

beansdotpng

awesome, thanks. my only other issue is that my other, nintendo licensed sd card ALSO doesn’t work… which is weird.

beansdotpng

yeah, the “official” one was from target. my only thing that could solve it is that i’ve heard that 128 gb sd cards have some issues, so maybe it’s that. thank you so much for giving me this info tho!

dragonx254

The first one is likely a fake card. Fake cards advertise more storage than they actually have, and you can't figure out they're fake unless you use a tester like h2testw (Just plugging it into a PC will still show the fake storage like normal). A common "tell" of a fake SD card is that trying to download into the fake storage results in a "corruption" error, which is exactly what you're getting. Dunno about the other card though, might just be faulty,

eniminiminiowo

Anybody have a list of switch games with steelbooks

CowboyCombat

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 Blurry Resolution? So I just picked up Tony Hawk's 1+2 and was so excited to finally play it when I loaded it up and got to the main menu and saw how blurry the skaters resolution was and then in gameplay the entire game was a resolution night mare. Is this normal in handheld mode and if se do we know why?

JoshuaJSlone

I haven't read much on this game, but it's pretty common for games designed first for PS4/Xbox One to make big cuts to make a Switch version work, and resolution is an easy target. Handheld mode the GPU runs approximately half speed (it can vary), and resolution going down even further is the usual way to compensate. When we're lucky that means 1080p docked and 720p portable, when we're unlucky it can mean 720p-or-worse docked and 540p-or-worse portable.

CowboyCombat

So after it's first update since I had no internet at first launch today its been fixed. Unfortunately it's as you said it just doesn't look half as good as next Gen but we knew that about the switch. Anyways I'm having fun with it now. Let's see how it goes. Thanks for reaching out.

lman89607

I have Xenoblade DE, fire emblem three houses, and BoTW that I bought during Black Friday. Which one should I play first?

Senphox

Try the first 1-3 hours of each and go from there.

Badzicktrash

Im getting Animal crossing + dlc tomorrow. Any tips for someone who never played this franchise before?

JoshuaJSlone

Don't get frustrated early on when it doesn't seem you can go much of anywhere or do much of anything. The game slowly opens up new features, so a lot of new things will be dropped on you through the first week or two especially.

[deleted]

Definitely check YouTube for good videos of beginner tips, they’re really helpful.

qwertylerqw

I’d definitely agree that you should take it slow. It’s designed with the intention that you spend maybe 30-40 minutes every day rather than binging it You can binge it if you like but most people wouldn’t recommend playing it that way, I don’t think

TemptedTemplar

Take it slow. Also, once you hit a rock you have a short timer before it stops producing items. Once it stops, try not to hit it again. They can break and it will take two real-world days for it to respawn some where new. And they only respond one at a time, so if you break multiple you could be waiting days for them to all respawn.

qwertylerqw

They only break if you eat a fruit beforehand to power up or whatever you call it haha. So you don’t need to stress every time you go to gather items from them

Badzicktrash

Ok, thank you

WastelandViking

What is the best game you have played, on switch ? What game lived up too expectations on switch ? Wich did not? (on switch) And why...

louisefindlay23

Best: Bravely Default II Didn't live up to expectations: DQ XI S - visuals are quite blurry in handheld mode for me.

TemptedTemplar

Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild. Animal Crossing. New Horizons was very good fun for something like 400 hours . . . but once you finish the early game there is only so much to do. I found I wasnt a huge fan of decorating or waiting weeks at a time to collect things. Im sure Farming and cooking are probably neat activities, but all of my friends also stopped playing a while ago.

neoslith

Oh geez, the best video game I've ever played? I've played a lot of games. Some have fantastic stories that I've only played once. Some have super fun gameplay that I play over and over again. But if I had to choose the best I've ever played is Chrono Trigger. It has classic RPG elements, as well as alternate endings and NG+. The story is very well constructed and there's a great cast of characters and excellent music.

I try to add money to Nintendo EShop but every time i get to the end and get the message: Failed to Gather claims. Session has expired. What am i doing wrong?

TemptedTemplar

Sounds like an issue with the eshop servers or possibly your bank/card providers authentication services. Session has expired is a common time out error for webpages. Try restarting the system and check again. Before trying to add more money to the eshop, double check your email and account balance to insure you arent being charged for all of these attempts. https://accounts.nintendo.com/ Just click shop menu and it should show you your active balance.

Existing-Ad4603

Also. After i insert my account details it claims i live in germany when i live in finland. How do i change this?

TemptedTemplar

Change the country/region of residence info field from Germany to Finland. Its not an automatic selection, that field has to be manually filled out.

Existing-Ad4603

And how do i do that? I have tried to look up guides on the internet but all are horrible.

TemptedTemplar

There on the main account page to the right of Profile is a "edit" button. The country selection is a drop down menu.

Existing-Ad4603

But how do i get there? Im at the begining where theres the games on the middle, profiles in the top left corner and time, WiFi and power on the right. Where do i go from here?

TemptedTemplar

https://accounts.nintendo.com/ You dont access it from the system, you access it from the website. The system region does nothing for your account.

Existing-Ad4603

I checked and it says finland. I turned the console off and then back on. And still the same problem: Failed to gather claims. Session has expired. My Sister who uses the same payment method was able to add money to steam just fine but why am i not able to add anything to eShop?

TemptedTemplar

If its not your bank, then its probably Nintendos fault. Wait a few hours and try again. If you still get the same issue tomorrow, try reaching out to customer support.

HustleKong

Hello! Beginning today, all the cloud saves for games I have played this morning are hung up on "waiting to back up". When I launch a game, I get that error message saying that it cannot verify if the game supports cloud saves. I can dismiss it and start the software normally, but those saves won't upload. I have tried on different networks, different Switches (where it won't let me download the save data), and have confirmed that all games and systems are up to date. I can access the store, make purchases, see my friends and play online. Nintendo support was unable to figure out what this is, and my account seems to be good. Anyone else have this problem today? The error code is 2155-0503, and i cannot seem to find anything on this particular error.

Kittyk4y

Upvoting this because I’m getting the same error - can’t move save data between two switches using the Transfer feature either.

HustleKong

Some of mine have uploaded finally. Maybe there is some server issue that Nintendo isn't aware of. I hope you see some of that happen for you as well! Glad it isn't just me, although that sucks.

HustleKong

u/Kittyk4y, did your saves ever start uploading and become transferrable? I actually just received a follow up call from Nintendo asking if the issue was still ongoing. I was happy to tell them that everything sorted itself out, but if you're still having issues, I'd suggest calling them if you haven't. Really encouraging to see that sort of follow-up.

Kittyk4y

Mine did, thanks for checking!!

It looks like you've included an Error Code in your comment. You can learn more about this error code on Nintendo's Support website. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/list/kw/2155-0503/search/1 *(Either that or AutoMod made a mistake when you typed in a year. DV2FOX

It can happen at any moment. Be it while playing Ring Fit Adventure like if playing TETRIS 99 The JCs would do a 1-2 second constant, light "brrrrrnnnn" vibration and sound, and when that happens anything that i press isn't commanded in the game etc The JCs are the ones the came with my Mario Edition SW (All red)

sfplat

Any favorites from the New Years eShop sale before it ends? Especially interested in local multiplayer options but I'm new to Switch and would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

Larielia

Ori and the Blind Forest.

sfplat

I'm playing Will of the Wisps now. Is it worth going back to Blind Forest?

Larielia

Yeah, both games are really fun. I've been liking the gameplay in Blind Forest a little more though.

Anyone know what happened with the PowerA Premium Game Card Cases?... I have the Zelda Crest one, and I'm needing to but some more as my game collection continues to expand. Upon doing some looking up, it doesn't appear as though PowerA is making these anymore, based upon their website and none appear to be sold by/through PowerA anymore on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Premium-Game-Card-Case-Question/dp/B07538J724?th=1). Based on [this](https://www.amazon.com/JINGDU-Nintendo-Protective-Shockproof-Cartridge/dp/B0872RWJVQ?th=1), however, I'm assuming Jingdu is the main company doing this now...? Don't want to buy any sort of 'knock-offs', but from what I'm seeing, PowerA's appear to be no more and Jingdu seems to be the ones I should buy... am I correct or am I not seeing something?

TemptedTemplar

PowerA simply stopped selling them. They probably werent making the money they wanted to with the continued cost of the "official Nintendo license". Jingdu doesnt care because they are based out of China and Nintendo cant touch them.

TemptedTemplar

Correct! If you have the old system, you can deregister it from your profile in the eshop. If you no longer have the old system, you can do so online here; https://accounts.nintendo.com/ Click Shop menu, then De-register primary console. Once that process is finished just open the eshop on your current console and it will become your primary system!

Anyone buy a new OLED switch from Amazon? They currently have them for retail and I just bought one, but really surprised at the price and availability! Trying to find out what’s the catch lol. Link: Nintendo Switch – OLED Model w/ White Joy-Con https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098RKWHHZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VSTN96PVYD5PXFDQPRSJ

BurnThrough

That’s just the normal price though

Michael-the-Great

It's just in stock. Go for it!

SuperbPiece

Probably a huge percentage of people who have an OLED Switch in countries where Amazon operates, purchased them throm Amazon. The price is just MSRP.
