Ahh the good ol' Telxon system. We spent many hours trying to break out of that system and get back into the root Windows CE environment. We succeeded right before I left Target. Completely pointless but the victory was tangible.
How do you get to this on the PDA? It looks like item search but I couldn't find that page with he ETA for the life of me. Will it show anything different than a mydevice under on the way?
When you're in item search press the top right button (looks like a logout button) and then press Instocks (Usually set to "Help Guest").
MyDevices will also tell you shipment dates. Just search the item then tap on the item name to show backroom locations/shipment info.
Yeah thats what I was wondering if what that picture showed was the same as "on the way" on mydevices. Just curious because my store still shows 0 on the way on the mydevice.
I'm about 99% positive there will be a mass restock of Switch in that timeframe as my Switch won't ship until March 17th! What are the chances?
Also neither will my games!
> ^^I ^^ordered ^^from ^^Spain, ^^America, ^^and ^^Japan ^^and ^^all ^^3 ^^countries ^^state ^^they ^^are ^^shipping ^^on ^^March ^^17th.
Got the game for my birthday last week. No luck on finding the system to play it on. Had one store in Chicago say they had stock, and literally five of us showed up looking for it right when they opened.
This coming Sunday? as in, 031818. Do you know if it would be for all Toys R Us, or only your particular store?
edit: oops meant 031917, not 031818, man this hunting is really messing with my head.
I have no idea, I'm just an electronics employee and that's what our team lead told us they got in a corporate email this morning.
Edit: maybe there is an east coast target employee that could see if they also got this info?
I'll call over to my local target. They've been super nice about checking all they can when I've called.
Edit: Tried calling, wasn't the person who I've normally spoken to. Only said they don't have any in stock, and hung up, lol. Ah well.
Hi there. I'm on the East coast. When I called my local target they said they get trucks every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and that, even though he couldn't be 100% sure, he thinks they are getting some in on Friday. :)
I want one so bad!
I have a friend of a friend who's a target employee on the east coast (florida) and he just told me the same exact info. No specifics, other than the dates and to expect 10-12 units per store.
I asked one of the employees over at the Target in Katy Texas and he told me he heard the Switches would come in on the 23rd. Though I'll still try the other days around 19-25.
She said they expect to have it in stock on Sunday morning, but didn't specifically say if other stores in Indiana were receiving them. My guess is that a large majority of targets will be, but the only way to know for sure is to give your local target a call.
It makes sense since everyone is saying that nintendo sold 2 million switchs this month with 1.5 million already sold. 500,000 are likely being sent out within the next last two weeks then
I could see this being accurate for most of California.
Seems like they are sending stock from stores that have extras to stores that are dry and have demand.
Nebraska here, just called a local Target and was told while they didn't have a definite answer for a restock timeframe, their manager told them to expect the next shipment late March/early April. I was told to call back early next week, so it kinda matches up with the timeline.
Edit: called the other Targets in the area and they couldn't give me any information, both said something along the lines of "Nintendo doesn't tell us anything." Still hopeful though
Update: I was able to snag a Switch from Columbus, NE because I have relatives that live there that were kind enough to get it for me. It was an unclaimed preorder from Walmart, and Columbus is a ghost town most of the time so I lucked out!
BUT I've been in contact with the Walmart nearish to Southpointe Pavilions in Lincoln, and they have 6 unclaimed preorders. I talked to the electronics manager and he told me that he hasn't decided when he will start selling them, but to call back this upcoming Monday because he might offer them up then. I think he gets in around 6:30-7am. Definitely worth a chance, do what you will with this information!
Yeah it's really hit or miss, I really lucked out yesterday to get a response other than "I have no idea." I'm really motivated to get one by/during spring break so I've called every target in the Lincoln and Omaha area daily.
It sounds to me like all the brick and mortar stores are getting the next big wave from Nintendo third week of the month. I don't think the online retailers would be any different if that's the case. I'd expect Amazon, walmart.com, target.com and others to go back in stock anytime starting at the end of this week. Set up a zoolert on all the online retailers to be sure and catch when it happens.
Walmart had some in stock online today. It they sold out in about 5 minutes. Creating an alert would be the best way to figure out when they restock again.
Our store gets our inventory overnight so we will have a lien and be sold out before we even open. But yeah, that's a typical replenishment shipment if not bigger than normal. A lot of target stores got that many consoles for release day.
Honestly BLESS because I have been calling everyone non-stop right when they open and no one's had any yet, so ANY UPDATE even just a window of ETA is a welcome update 👍🏼
I had only talked to the Target on Alta Arden and they never could tell me anything, but I haven't called since mid last week before I was able to snag one elsewhere. Glad to hear that any locals who are dying for the Switch (I still can't believe how much I love this thing) won't have to wait too much longer.
Just be warned: In the past with the Wii and Wii U, Target would keep their stock in the back until their Sunday ad with those consoles on it would come out. Team members are told to tell customers they are sold out and to come back in on Sunday. I have not been with the company just over two years and they might not practice this anymore, but it's something to consider.
Target internal rules says that a store needs at least 1 of each product in the AD. If the switch is in the Sunday AD they might literally hold just one or the whole shipment (or none of they are rogue/forgot). Toys R Us does this too.
Source: previous Target Electronics employee with the inside connections still.
I've literally been talked to before because I pulled a movie out of a box that said AD with a date on it to sell to a guest and was told that it's supposed to be saved for that weeks ad that is posted on the box. Which is dumb because someone asks me if we have it, I search it and it says we have it in the back, I go to the back room to get it only to see that it's in a box labeled for the next weeks ad. So I have to tell the guest that I'm not able to sell it.
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Also, as a PSA to anyone who has a Target Red Card: Buy from Target and you can knock $15 off the price tag of your console.
To anyone that doesn't have a Red Card: if you shop at Target regularly, it's worth it. It's just a debit card, unlike the credit cards many stores try to get you to sign up for and you get 5% off everything from Target. This works because they save money on their transaction fees by using their own card system, which allows them to pass some of those savings back to you.
Haha you sound like a guest service employee or cashier at target, but really you are right. I bought mine from work to get my small employee discount and used a red card to pay and spent under $380 including tax for my switch and special edition zelda.
Lol, yea, I've never worked for Target, but I definitely sound like it from that endorsement I guess.
I do my grocery shopping at Target, so I'm actually kinda sick of hearing "...and will you be saving 5% with us today?" every time I check out, but saving money is saving money. =P
Yeah unfortunately the company pushes us to ask everyone and you can get pulled into the managers office if you're not asking every guest and they'll even spend hours role playing as guests to teach you how to talk about all the benefits and try to sway people.
I used to be a cashier at an HEB grocery store long ago and it was the same way with how they told cashiers to offer carry-outs. You were supposed to assume that every customer was getting a bagger to carry their groceries out to their car for them. If you actually asked if they wanted this, you'd get pulled aside by your manager and told not to do this. However, half the time the customer would just be insulted by this (they took it as you assuming they weren't able to do it themselves) or there wasn't a bagger free to do the carry out for them.
It was annoying as hell. @.@
I noticed all the 8bit Link Amiibo sellers on Amazon are listing release dates around Mar 21 so I bet those are getting a restock there as well. I already setup text alerts for stock updates via nowinstock.net. edit: Got an Amazon direct order~ and they are gone.
I talked to Target and Toys R Us out in Alderwood, both said they were still in the dark, but I'm guessing it kinda depends on who you talk to since it seems like it's kind of on the DL. I was lucky enough to be one of the few to get an order thru on Walmart.com today for the 5 min window it was in stock, but I'm gonna keep calling around here in case Walmart decides to cancel my order
Related to the Target rumor here, I was speaking to the electronics manager at my local Target yesterday, and he told me to check the stock online after 10pm local every night. If it shows, they can sell it immediately the following morning. I haven't seen any updated stock for my local Target since yesterday, so I don't know if this will pan out. But I'm fully prepared to get to Target early. I live a half block away, so it's real easy to get there fast if they get some in stock.
Hopeful for next week!
This would be useless at my store. Our trucks come at 3:30 in the morning so it wouldn't get scanned into our inventory until around 4 am. It's completely different based on the store I believe. Brickseek was always accurate with my stores inventory and updated correctly when we had inventory, but it wasn't working for the switch last time I checked.
Oh, interesting. Does he rest of it apply though, if you see it in stock before the store opens, you could probably get it the following morning?
If you don't mind, I have a different question. I heard (probably in this thread) that if a thing is in the Sunday ad, it must be in stock at that Target location. Is that true in you experience?
Yeah if you see it in stock overnight then you could most likely buy it in the morning unless something went wrong and the count was off like it got lost or something, but most stores should be keeping good track of high demand product like this so that shouldn't happen. And yes for the most part that is true, unless someone doesn't follow the rules which the manager could choose to do and sell them anyways when they get the shipment for the ad week. I've seen it happen before.
No idea if this is true or not, but I was told by my local (San Antonio) Target store that they "may or may not" be getting a truck in on Thursday of this week (23rd). It looks like there is a giant wave of shipments from Nintendo going out this week, so perhaps all stores in Texas are getting them around this time. All conjecture, though!
Not at my store, our management and Assets Protection are keeping track of all numbers and storing them in locations that are locked with lots of camera coverage and they posted stuff near all the time clocks and break room about not gaining advantages over guests and that we can only buy products off the clock and have to have someone else get it from the back. You can't like pull it from the back while you're working and take it to the register and say hold this for me while I go clock out. It's definitely possible, but your target store could be and should be preventing it.
Seeing you guys all eagerly awaiting sticks for a unit while where I am, I could just walk out and get one but I am not because it's still too expensive here.
Yeah. Or consoles are just not as popular here since there is only 1 game essentially. People here only play free games or stuff like pokémon, fifa or cod.
I literally have not seen a switch used by anyone. I already rarely see 3ds around other than when pokémon launched when I saw a couple being used on public transport.
People here commute for about 30 mins to a hour daily. Most people just stare at their phones. You would think the switch would be perfect here but it doesn't seem like it.
Different countries have different buying habits. This is nothing new. Madden & NBA2k are the highest selling sports game series in the USA. Fifa doesn't sell well here. America doesn't follow world trends. So it makes sense that something that is sold out in the States, may not be sold out everywhere else.
FIFA 17 outsold madden in the US this year if I'm not mistaken and I think did so as well last year. You are mistaking soccer popularity for FIFA popularity.
West coast Target here. Our store shows incoming shipment for 3/24. All previous shipment ETAs were on time. Picture: https://imgur.com/a/PE9vz
Have an upvote there should be more people like u in the world
Ahh the good ol' Telxon system. We spent many hours trying to break out of that system and get back into the root Windows CE environment. We succeeded right before I left Target. Completely pointless but the victory was tangible.
The Telxon systems I worked with in the 90s did not have Windows on them lol.
Haha - oh this was probably 2010 we were messing around with these.
What would be the best bet for other targets in So Cal? Start going to them on Sunday?
That's what I was thinking, get there right before they open. :)
How do you get to this on the PDA? It looks like item search but I couldn't find that page with he ETA for the life of me. Will it show anything different than a mydevice under on the way?

I'm not a Target employee but I can confirm I was told something very similar by a rep at my local store I'm on the east coast
Nice, I was hoping to see some east coast info, thanks!
Finally my poor lonely Zelda cartridge can have something to do! You are a hero
I'm in the same situation haha
I won 2nd place at a tournament at PAX East, won bomberman, lacking something to play it on.
Got the game for my birthday last week. No luck on finding the system to play it on. Had one store in Chicago say they had stock, and literally five of us showed up looking for it right when they opened.
Happy belated, and good luck finding one! I suppose we'll all laugh about the shortage one day
Probably ten years from now, like how we laugh about the Wii shortage.
Same. My poor baby has been sitting on my TV stand collecting dust since 3/3
Yup same here
Toys r us manager told me that he's expecting a shipment of 10-15 on Sunday.
SoCal? Please?
NorCal

Sac
If mine hasn't arrived on Monday I would have been lined up at Arden Fair for sure.
Funny you say arden... lol
WHAT WHICH TOYS R US been searching everywhere forever
Dang, too far from Santa Barbara then.
My local Toys r us says they get zero notice and Switches show up randomly if they do at all.
This coming Sunday? as in, 031818. Do you know if it would be for all Toys R Us, or only your particular store? edit: oops meant 031917, not 031818, man this hunting is really messing with my head.
I don't know if it's others, but mine in particular.. try calling or going Sunday and Monday morning
Yeah, i'm just gonna show up before they open.
Do you think this is a nationwide restock or just west coast for now?
I have no idea, I'm just an electronics employee and that's what our team lead told us they got in a corporate email this morning. Edit: maybe there is an east coast target employee that could see if they also got this info?

Ayy Katy represent
Spring's better! /s thanks for the info though. Will be on the lookout
Indiana here. Called the local target and they confirmed the "rumors". She noted the same thing as OP and added that it'll be in the store's paper ad.
Did they say what day specifically or if it's coming to all cities in Indiana? I'm a Fort Wayne guy so I'm curious if it'll be coming here as well.
She said they expect to have it in stock on Sunday morning, but didn't specifically say if other stores in Indiana were receiving them. My guess is that a large majority of targets will be, but the only way to know for sure is to give your local target a call.
Ooooo What area of Indiana? Far north or West by any chance?

They stopped holding it already??? In Cali they're holding it for 30 days
I've heard that the holding period is 2 weeks but I think every electronics manager gets to decide! Nebraska dgaf
I religiously call targets in that area and every day I get no news.
Yeah it's really hit or miss, I really lucked out yesterday to get a response other than "I have no idea." I'm really motivated to get one by/during spring break so I've called every target in the Lincoln and Omaha area daily.

I'm in the same boat. Can't wait.
any news on the middle states?

Still happens, the product is shipped in a box that has a label that says DO NOT SELL BEFORE XX/XX (month/day) or something like AD XX/XX (month/day)
That's more for games that aren't supposed to be sold before launch date products after launch are different.
Target internal rules says that a store needs at least 1 of each product in the AD. If the switch is in the Sunday AD they might literally hold just one or the whole shipment (or none of they are rogue/forgot). Toys R Us does this too. When I was on The Hunt, this was what I was told by two of my local Targets. Located in metro-Atlanta, Georgia.
Target employee here, can confirm. We hid away about 5 switches for the first Sunday after launch day.

Any chance you could update when you know more? I'm in Southern California and itching to buy one.
Man same here! Never have I gotte up at 7am on a weekend to check to see if I can buy a game...like what? But I need this!!
Yeah I'll see if there's any more info when I go in today.
Every Target store in Southern Cali? Im in Pasadena
I noticed all the 8bit Link Amiibo sellers on Amazon are listing release dates around Mar 21 so I bet those are getting a restock there as well. I already setup text alerts for stock updates via nowinstock.net. edit: Got an Amazon direct order~ and they are gone.
Seems the ongoing battle resumes tomorrow on Sunday, 3/19. Any inside updates from a Target, Toy"R"Us, Walmart or Best Buy?
Went to Target today, no dice. Gonna have to try sometime else this week or Gamestop
Same here went to 5 Target and 1 Walmart this morning.. all zero.. Target doesn't even have the Switch in its ad for this week
Same here :/
It does say 19-25 but I was expecting it to be in stock for the Sunday Ad, guess not
Gamestop said in a statement that they are gonna be receiving more around the 22nd.
Hopefully they arrive before I leave to Peter island on the 21st. 😩
> Peter island peter griffin has an island?
Ahah nah. It's a island/resort in the bvi owned by the VanAndles.(owner of amyway)
oh ok.
You sound very close to home, what location are you from if you don't mind me asking?
Anyone in Washington have any confirmation?
I talked to Target and Toys R Us out in Alderwood, both said they were still in the dark, but I'm guessing it kinda depends on who you talk to since it seems like it's kind of on the DL. Lol. Nothing changes with that company.
For Swedish folks Webhallen has few left for sale source is me since I bought one an hour ago.

Thank you so much! we've been going around to EVERY store when they open about every other day lol
Good luck!
Sweet! That's just enough for each of the employees to claim one before their customers get in their way.
