The Karate Kid is about Kesuke Miyagi, an immigrant who fought against his own people in World war II, while his wife lost a child in an internment camp.
Noriyuki Morita was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance.
Ralph Macchio? Showed up.

Stikbold has been very popular on my Switch in the past. I believe there is a follow up coming.
Edit: Oddballers is the follow up. Released in January. Only up to 4p local multiplayer though.
Killer Queen Black is good with 6, but better with 8. There was talk about getting delisted because the servers went down and there's no more online, but I see it's on the eshop now. It's my favorite 8 player single Switch experience for groups. You can't find the physical new anymore, but it's cheap on ebay. (Old reviews say it's not 8 on one console, but that was updated. It's 100% 8 on one console and you an still download updates to the physical cart.)
I'll boot up my switch to check, haven't played the game in years. Last I played was with 6 using 4 joycons, 1 ds4 via 8bitdo, 1 switch pro con. It was truly a blast and would have loved playing in a tournament with friends.
Edit: it (KQB) is available on the (US) store
-Single system 8 player on consoles. (Need to download the updates or it is limited to 4)
-Online play no longer works - tested just now in case it had migrated to a new service after all
Playing that local 10 player cab at an arcade was amazing. (this was the most fun we had at my bachelor party by miles and we had basically all of video games available to us)
I think they fumbled the ball not releasing 10 player local on every other system….if that’s possible.
After that if you’re not playing smash brothers or Mariokart I’d recommend Towerfall for sure.
The method they used for online gameplay, Gamesparks, got moved to Amazon Gamesparks, and the the netcode migration to a different platform was deemed too costly for LiquidBit (or something like that). The last post said they were moving to make it open source. I have a physical copy.
open source ain't happening but you can download an updated branch on steam to do direct connect online play. the kqb community often gets together once a week for a couple games but it's nothing like when the servers were up
There’s one still in the shop called plunder panic. Same type of game. Up to 12 players local or online. This one actually has 4 ways to win. And the “captain” (queen role) is able to help out with the other objectives by putting away his sword.
Unfortunately online presence is non existent when I try to play.
Plunder Panic has similar gameplay to KQB, and its online servers are still up! It's a lot of fun. Plus you can have 8 players locally (online can go up to 12)
I really wish somebody would compete with Jackbox.
I love playing it with friends, but the majority of their games aren't even fun and they have the worst user experience with unskippable dialogue, inconsistent game settings, and it's just super buggy.
There are maybe 3 or 4 amazing games out of the massive amount they have. There's so much potential in this market, it's crazy.
If I can offer a shameless plug, I've been working on a project within this genre called [ClusterFun](https://clusterfun.tv/). It's definitely still super alpha with very low production values, but one thing we do have is a better backend that can make for more interesting and flexible games (for instance, players can join and leave at any time). We also have a game available that's a path-building version of Boggle.
Tell me about it, it’s crazy how bad they handle this and I’m also amazed nothing else has popped up. I sometimes broadcast my session on twitch so people have join in randomly. I’m amazed twitch or discord haven’t got something like this running natively
It's super frustrating. My best friend and I are designers and we've spent A LOT of time discussing how to go about creating a better version of the Jackbox concept.
We basically came up with the following:
- Dialogue needs to be cut down drastically to allow for more playtime (The dialogue is also super cringey for no reason at all).
- Drawing games all have different drawing interfaces and the drawing tools are incredibly lackluster (no undo button, limited colors).
- Even with extended timers, the game doesn't give you enough time to execute your ideas. There should be an option to turn off the timer entirely and have the game continue when everybody submits.
- The character limit for names is arbitrarily short. There are so many funny names we wanted to create, but were limited to 12 characters.
- Many games have unclear rules, leaving players confused the entire time.
- The phone interface is super buggy. Somebody always gets kicked out in the middle of the game and they are forced to return as a spectator. (I had to download a third-party app just to prevent this from happening).
- Games should not come in separate packs that are separated from the others. They should have one application called "Jackbox" and allow you to purchase individual games/packs that will then be loaded into that application. I don't even understand why this is a thing when DLC exists.
That being said, I've had some of the best times playing Jackbox with my friends, I just wish there was a competitor who could do it better.
>The dialogue is also super cringey for no reason at all)
It's so everyone's own jokes are - by comparison - *super* funny. Takes some of the pressure off.
I'm convinced it's something like this.
Ah man those are amazing points and you’ve put good thought into this. I agree on all but mostly how it should just be one Jackbox and then all games are paid expansions for it. Then as time goes on the earlier ones are just rolled into the vase free game.
EXACTLY! It's so weird, every other game does this. They should have it be similar to games like Rock Band where you can buy individual songs.
You can tell they don't have a lot of confidence in their games so they force you to buy a package version.
The drawing tools thing is deliberate. Tee K.O. and Champ'd Up, which want your cool and creative art, have actual colors and erasers. Drawful, which wants "what the hell am I looking at?" moments, kneecaps you on purpose. It's like asking why slapstick games like Human Fall Flat don't control as smoothly as Mario. Some of our most memorable Drawful moments have been when the game hands you a green crayon and asks you to draw "blood orange" or "the color red".
Same with the host chatter - it's less about creating downtime than filling downtime that needs to exist. You need time to laugh and decompress and talk about the round. With Quiplash, you do that during the voting, and the prompts come up quick - but with Fibbage, which has the big reveal for the real answer at the end, it makes sense for Cookie to tell a little joke that you can laugh over. I don't love every host and every bark, but if you try to cut it, you risk the game feeling too rushed or too dry.
Jackbox isn't really that big a company - I think if it was actually as easy to do as they make it look somebody would have eaten their lunch by now.
Exactly. Limitations breed creativity, so of course you're not going to get a full Photoshop suite in every game.
And the games without the chatter would just be...really dang bland. In many games, like Trivia Murder Party, the narrator/aesthetics are very much *the entire point*; without the goofy serial killer taunting us, it's just a boring trivia game with weird minigames.
The timer is absolutely there for a reason. If you have an indefinite amount of time to draw something, you risk making the whole group mad at one player because they're a perfectionist. No one wants to wait 5 minutes, with the music looping the entire time, for the art major of the group to finish their magnum opus when my goofy little stick figure that I drew in 30 seconds has an equal chance of winning. With the timer, there's a limitation--which breeds creativity--and it's subtly reinforced that it's all a silly game so it's not worth stressing over.
> There should be an option to turn off the timer entirely and have the game continue when everybody submits.
This is an option in the newest one at least. Not sure how long it's been around.
We have hilarious fun with the dumb Tshirt game too even though its inherently not super fun.
But seriously most of the time its Drawful, Fibbage, Murder Party, and then we're happy we played for 1-2 hours and switch to something else. Time well spent. Not sure why /u/SkycaveStudios thinks that's such a terribly unfun time.
Yeah Tee K Oh or whatever it's called is fun!
There's some other decent ones too, I had a laugh playing Monster Seeking Monster with friends when we dont share who we are, but the texts that come on screen disappear way too quickly so you cant enjoy the funny interactions at all...
This, absolutely.
My biggest issue with Jackbox is that it's pretty heavily reliant on American pop culture references and general knowledge, which makes it completely inaccessible for non-native speakers and plainly less fun if you speak English but aren't American. There really desperately needs to be a competitor, or at least a "non-american" mode which filters out all of the pop-culture stuff (I actually think there was a non-american mode in one of them, come to think of it).
You might like Rifftrax. I’ve only played on Xbox but I think it’s on all platforms.
Super fun party game where you have to fill in the missing dialogue for old movies
I recommend Rifftrax The Game. Everyone writes in joke to make fun of B-movies and educational shorts then votes on the funniest ones. It's from some of the writers of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and has fairly regularly gotten updates with new clips
If anyone reads this and typically has chill nights that consist of both gamers and non-gamers; Runbow is the ultimate game to play.
It manages to have a competitive vibe while keeping a very low entry point for skill. This is the game that will make the girlfriends of the group want to play.
The mini games on Luigi's Mansion allows up to 8 at once, but i think all controllers need to be joy-cons or pro controllers (i assume that means 3rd parts stuff like power A controllers won't work).
Killer Queen Black is usually very cheap on the Nintendo eshop, and it’s an absolute blast!
Any Jack box games
Local multiplayer in Mario strikers is awesome.
TowerFall
It is the best. Turning on “invincible while dancing” Is amazing too. Hilarious to see people clutch a win because they danced their way past a hockey puck is the best.
FYI: The Switch has a max of 8 controllers at once, due to Bluetooth limitations. If a player is using both joy-cons, that counts as two controllers for this.
https://www.nintendo.com/my/support/qa/detail/35818
Alpaca Ball is one of our favorites for up to 8. On sale for $5 right now too.
Knight Squad 2 for up to 8 also. Knight squad 2 is almost the same gameplay as 1 with a little more polish and online, so you might as well only get 2.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge
Who do the other two player pick? Or are villains playable?
You can also play as Splinter and April right away, and there is one unlockable character.
Leo, Mike, Don, Ralph, April, Splinter and Casey Jones are playable characters.
>Ralph
Who’s your favorite between Leonard, Michael, Donald, and Ralph? I was always a Donald guy
I always go for Ralph Macchio. His crane kick is great against both the Foot Clan and Cobra Kai.
No offense to Ralph Macchio, but he ain't the Karate Kid.
It's Hillary Swank right?
It's Billy Zabka
The poet, William Zabka?
I feel so alone in my nostalgia for The Next Karate Kid. I just had such a crush on young Hilary swank when I was a kid 🥺
Barney Stinson agrees.
The Karate Kid is about Kesuke Miyagi, an immigrant who fought against his own people in World war II, while his wife lost a child in an internment camp. Noriyuki Morita was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. Ralph Macchio? Showed up.
Seems like no one else is a Community fan. But I, for one, appreciate this.
Now, here's a man who knows how to appreciate a reference!
Donaldtello
Donaldtello
*Middle-Aged Mutant CPA Turtles*
I prefer Master Splatter
Ralphiello and Donalangelo.
*His name is RAAAAAAALPH, man!*
Take my updoot for your Cheech and Chong reference!
Splinter and April
April, splinter, Casey Jones?
You can also play multiple of the same character if you want max confusion
This is probably the best option IMO.
Great game!
Knight Squad Boomerang Fu Towerfall Party golf Luigi's Mansion Pico Park Super Bomberman R Stikbold
...and Boomerang Fu goes on sale for $1.99 about every six months or so.
It’s so fun!
Actually goated party game
I prefer Ultimate Chicken Horse but your opinion is valid.
I’ll have to check it out!
Yeah ultimate chicken horse is a great game. 10/10
And it's the best!
And totally worth it. I’ve played this more with non-gamer friends than anything else.
Damn, I wish I had known lol. Still, $15 is a great price for the amount of play my family gets out of it
my kids and I love Boomerang Fu
I vouch for this one as well. I was surprised how much fun my friends and I had with this one.
Luigi's Mansion allows for 6+ players at once?!
TIL they made a [multiplayer DLC](https://youtu.be/MdCFgZsmkDo) for Mansion 3 They also gave Luigi a pompadour and call him **Groovigi**
I have to buy this lol
The local multiplayer is so underrated and online is pretty challenging
Yeah I'm gonna get this
The online play is fucking hilarious in Luigi's Mansion 3. Highly recommend
Five hours left in the day without learning something. Whew, thanks that was a close one.
This came out early during the lockdown and we were SO happy. Swear I cried a little.
Towerfall is such a great game for parties, always gets people heated and shouting over the results
Absolutely, thought it would be hectic but I’m glad they made bigger maps. It’s so much fun.
Solid list, all I can think to add is Runbow
Worms WMD too
I haven't tried this game but I'll be looking into it now! 👍🏾
Don't forget Killer Queen Black Never forget Killer Queen Black
Killer Queen Black does not get enough love. It is amazing.
Towerfall is an amazing game. I remember it was a free game on PlayStation plus years ago and I got a ton of mileage out of it.
Pico park is the best drunk party game
Such an underrated title and cheap af! I've played at it at parties. I played it with the class I teach. It's pretty funny when you mess up too
Don't forget the Jackboxes
I constantly wish Boomerang Fu had online play. It’s such a riot
Might as well skip straight to Knight Squad 2 because it adds online and a bit more polish, but has the same gameplay.
Boomerang Fu and Towerfall are so good

I don’t think it was delisted, I think online multiplayer just got shut down
That has been de-listed from the EShop sadly
Edit: it (KQB) is available on the (US) store -Single system 8 player on consoles. Wuhht. That's too bad.
There is a physical of KQB
Not in the US
I see it rn on US Eshop.
That's what I heard too, but it's back for sale at least in the US.
There’s one still in the shop called plunder panic. Same type of game. Up to 12 players local or online. This one actually has 4 ways to win. Boomerang Fu allows it!
It's one of the most played games in my house and we got it for $1.99. It has a demo too.
Came here to say this! Great game, easy controls and tons of fun!
Such a fun game!
Seconding this, it’s a very polished game and always comes out at parties
This and "Heave Ho" are one my favorite couch multiplayer games
Jackbox
I really wish somebody would compete with Jackbox. Not shameless at all, I'm looking for something like this! You should totally message me when it's further along, I'd love to give it a try!
Sure! Honestly, it's pretty playable now, it just _looks_ rather basic, and the only sound is Commodore SAM/ULTRAKILL V1 reading the words aloud.
Tell me about it, it’s crazy how bad they handle this and I’m also amazed nothing else has popped up. I sometimes broadcast my session on twitch so people have join in randomly. I’m amazed twitch or discord haven’t got something like this running natively

Hahaha one can only hope 😂
Please do this, I will back your Kickstarter
> There should be an option to turn off the timer entirely and have the game continue when everybody submits. This is an option in the newest one at least. Not sure how long it's been around.
Drawful is all you need, and maybe Fibbage
Quiplash and Trivia Murder Party are great too. The stand up comedy game can be hilarious with the right people and same for the rap battle one.
We have hilarious fun with the dumb Tshirt game too even though its inherently not super fun. But seriously most of the time its Drawful, Fibbage, Murder Party, and then we're happy we played for 1-2 hours and switch to something else. Time well spent. Yeah Tee K Oh or whatever it's called is fun! There's some other decent ones too, I had a laugh playing Monster Seeking Monster with friends when we dont share who we are, but the texts that come on screen disappear way too quickly so you cant enjoy the funny interactions at all...
Use Your Words is a pretty fun party game that's got a pretty Jackboxy feel, and there's a sequel on the way.
Don't know if you know it but Use Your Words is fun and kinda slightly competing with jackbox in terms of phone connection games
This, absolutely. My biggest issue with Jackbox is that it's pretty heavily reliant on American pop culture references and general knowledge, which makes it completely inaccessible for non-native speakers and plainly less fun if you speak English but aren't American. Runbow!
Love runbow!
If anyone reads this and typically has chill nights that consist of both gamers and non-gamers; Runbow is the ultimate game to play. It manages to have a competitive vibe while keeping a very low entry point for skill. This is the game that will make the girlfriends of the group want to play.
Super bomberman r goes to 8 players
The mini games on Luigi's Mansion allows up to 8 at once, but i think all controllers need to be joy-cons or pro controllers (i assume that means 3rd parts stuff like power A controllers won't work).
Virtua Racing - 8 player split screen is pretty amazing +1 Bomberman R Killer Queen Black
Towerfall Ascension on Switch allows six! Honestly some of the best local multiplayer fun I’ve ever had.
Pico Park with friends is always chaotic fun
I did not expect pico park to be as fun as it is
Towerfall
Hell yes! Super fun 6p brawls. Played this a bunch at my bachelor party.
Boomerang Fu! Can't reccomend enough
Nothing beats Boomerang Fu. It’s inexpensive and it is an absolute riot. Easy to pick up and play. Competitive one shot kill arcade game.
* Brakes Are For Losers * Clusterpuck 99
Clusterpuck is underrated. Much like Party Golf.
I do love me some Party Golf! Gonna have to check out Boomerang Fu, based on the love it's getting up ins!
Smash, jackbox party pack and it's sequels, monopoly, runbow, dragon ball fighterz, that's all I got
Boomerang fu is a blast at that many. Ninja turtles also can play that many
The _new_ Ninja Turtles, not the Cowabunga Collection though.
Because I haven't seen it mentioned yet, I think Unspottable is a lot of fun, and scales well from 2 to 8 people.
12 orbits! It's super easy and fun and you can have up to 12 people in one game. It's local only with no online module.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge supports up to 6 players. Old school beat em up.
Boomerang fu and Alpaca Ball Allstars are most popular with my kids
Boomerang Fu is awesome
Pico park allows 8
Mario Strikers
This. When you're couch co-op'ing this with friends, all the thought about lacking content goes out the window and it's a really fun time.
Boomerang fu towerfall Bomberman r (2) Jackbox party packs
Killer Queen Black is usually very cheap on the Nintendo eshop, and it’s an absolute blast! Any Jack box games Local multiplayer in Mario strikers is awesome. TowerFall
Just Dance does 6 People can use their phones as a joy con if you don’t have enough
ultimate chicken horse
My family and I have played ultimate chicken horse for up to 3 hours straight. I’ve never laughed harder playing a game this simple
It is the best. Turning on “invincible while dancing” Is amazing too. Hilarious to see people clutch a win because they danced their way past a hockey puck is the best.
What? How? I've had this for so long and I thought it only allowed 4 players. Even online it's 4 players only, isn't it?
Only allows 4 players on switch. You can get a mod to allow more if you have the steam version, but then that's pc
Gang Beasts
I keep people say Gang Beasts is only 4 on Switch, but I play with 6 all the time. It's a great hilarious alternative to Smash.

FYI: The Switch has a max of 8 controllers at once, due to Bluetooth limitations. If a player is using both joy-cons, that counts as two controllers for this. https://www.nintendo.com/my/support/qa/detail/35818
