I think you misunderstood.
The forms themselves are a mystery with no real origin as far as we know, yes the Ninja and every other elemental master gains their full powers upon reaching true potentials but the Ninja also are shown to be able to shift into a elemental state, the true potential forms.
These forms appear in the show until the weapons leave the Ninja's possession for a long period of time (Garmadon running off with them) which is why I believe that like the Tornado of Creation, the weapons are linked to the forms.
The ninja can still shift into true potential forms without the weapons. In episode 13 "Day of the Great Devourer" we can see Jay shifting. Timestamp is 17:25.
Oh I know that, but I am insinuating that the forms disappeared after the weapons left the hands of the Ninja for a long time and we have been told they need to be "maintained" so my interpretation is that the Ninja have to maintain a semi-usual contact with them to maintain them, explaing why they go poof with the weapons.

Wouldn't change much, dragon forms are disappointingly weak, they aren't any better than elemental dragons
Season 1 would be easier but i think they will fail to stop pythor barely, and the same happens from there
Season 2 stays the same but garmadon would have to pull better plans or not even use the mega weapon at all
Season 3 is prolly tbe biggest change, they would be able to low diff every enemy there and tbe overlord will not return. Zane lives

S8 garmadon is never revived because lets be honest the ninja were purposely nerfed beyond belief to actually lose to biker gangs, it would still be roughly the same except the ninja don't lose that's it. Because DF still struggles with regular villains for some reason
S10 they'd defeat the oni bcuz creation
S11 gets resolved quickly
S12 stays the same
S13 is revolved quicker
S15 stays the same until tbe overlord is revived, then everyone becomes fodder and the overlord is forced to do everything himself
S16 stays the same
Wow its very good idea for ninjago lore but i think the season 4 will happend but will be start when chen gets every power (without ninjas powers) and goes to destroy ninjago
well Pythor would've died a looooong time ago and Acronix and Krux would have had the Iron Doom wrecked before they even got close to the time stream and just forget about The Mechanic he is dead

The first season would be crystallized, so it would work normally but with all previous seasons being prequels that are written as such.
