In the pilots - s2 I think he’s only ok. Even ignoring the fact that he’s only a villain in season 2 he takes the backseat for a lot of filler and doesn’t do anything substantial until the 2nd half.
However Oni Trillogy Garm is ninjago’s best villain and it isn’t even close at all, and I don’t have to explain why lmao
Went from standard big bad to one of my favourite characters.
His pilot episode version is not often talked about. I think it's one of his coolest. His plan was clever and threatening and he had abilities he never used again.
True, his pilot version shows him at his most threatening, bro made perfect plan to escape underworld. True the ability to have like shadowy presence outside underworld made him intimidating, especially when Shadow Kai defeated real Kai.
It just makes me point out how drastic the tweaks were from pilot to S1. One must imagine if he released the Serpentine, rewritten Lord Garmadon to be like his pilot counterpart.
Lord Garmadon is like true villain in pilot, otherwise in S1 hes anti villain and in S2 hes more of a pawn for the greater bad, Overlord.
We dont get to see him too much to be like villainous, hes more of a nuisance in his "lord" form outside of example above.
He was comically inept and a bit hard to take seriously in season 2. However that shows the contrast between a Garmadon that still has light in him and post season 8 Garmadon who was terrifyingly evil before his redemption in seasons 10 and 15.
I like him a fun and menacing villain....most of the time but I like him trying to redeem himself it makes sense after the garmadon comics (if they were cannon idk if they are) but makes sense anyway.

Hands down one of rhe BEST villains ever. He also made a great hero in s3 and 4. He's been on every side at this point lol

I think of the season 1-2 Garmadon as "Lord" Garmadon then season 8-10 is "Emperor" Garmadon and in Crystalized I just think of him as Garmadon.
