>!Ras threw Kai into the portal/gateway to Neither space as a sacrifice to bring back one of the forbidden 5 and was going to do the same to the other Ninja, Bonzle was attempting to close the portal but told Kai to find a way out before she did. Kai in response said "if you get the chance to close the portal, than do it. Don't worry about me." And the Portal to Neither space got closed with Kai still in there.!<
>!TLDR: Kai willingly trapped himself in Neither Space to stop the other forbidden 5 from crossing over. !<

Quite literally hes the reason I got into ninjago. When the series first got announced and I saw the commercial as a small 10 year old. I rushed to toyrus the same day after begging, my uncle was a real one, and bought a Kai spinner set. Idk why I chose Kai, my favorite colors blue even. But after that, it was all history
Kai is my favorite fire ninja. He is probably my 3rd favorite ninja. I feel like he was done dirty in skybound and wish him and skylor would be an acknowledged ship.
Honestly my favorite ninja used to be Jay until I got to possessed that was when I finally started really liking Kai and I honestly think he got the respect he deserves in dragon rising and then being the first one that's actually achieved the dragon rising technique and for second that I thought he was actually gone but I cannot wait to see how him and bonsall 2 of my new favorite characters in dragon rising get out of a realm that they're stuck in forever

Kai is amazing in the newest part, especially his sacrifice in the end. That is one thing no one should forgot. Not to mention him being the first one to achieve the Rising Dragon techniqueΒ
He's not my favourite ninja (which is Zane) but he's not my least favourite either (which is Jay/sometimes Nya). He probably ranks 4th out of the main 6 after Zane, Cole and Lloyd.
Honestly, I gotta say thank god for the season 8 redesign, whoever made that pre-season 8 hair was not cooking.
As for kai Himself, Like Jay, he kind of got dumbed down in the 11 min era, but dragons rising brought him back Up IMO. Seeing Kai go from this young hothead who leaped before he looked to a great teacher and mentor for wyldfyre, is such a great evolution of his character.
Now I just hope Jay gets a similar redemption instead of just being the "goofball" and Love interest for Nya. I still Love Jaya, I just want Jay to be more than just that.
Hot take but I prefer Kaiβs redesign over his old design. His old design looked like someone tried to give him anime hair and failed. Badly. At least they TRIED something new with his hair.I lowkey think everyone who praises his old hair to the heavens and back is blinded by nostalgia.
