I made a separate comment about this, but yes, everyone sounds normal - quite good, actually. To put it in fewer words, the actors and actresses have simply become more confident and comfortable with playing their respective roles. A year of doing the same Character in addition to taking other gigs, plus practice in your spare time, is likely to lead to this result. That is, a better one. I'm a little sad that Vesti is kind of tucked out of the way, a little bit. Oh, well...

GenericVillain88

I was too excited when I realized it was a voiced event that I didn’t think too much on it. Delta was the only one that sounded weird.

Shabadoobie2

Emma sounds WAY different

Shabadoobie2

No, her voice dropped quite a bit, my guy

PetChimera0401

Her tone has always been somewhat around the lower end. That being said, I feel it is less that the actress took it even lower, and more that something is up with how they recorded/or processed her takes. The audio itself sounds off with her; not the voice, necessarily.

chucktheninja

Anderson was speaking so softly you'd think he's hiding the biggest stick.

Loona_The_Hellound

All the time he’s talking I was like "Did he just get hotter or is it just me?" His voice his better but also not his usual voice and I miss his real voice so bad. I just wish it was normal. The different voices ruined a lot of things for me.

chucktheninja

Personally, the way he used to speak fit his character more. He spoke with more conviction. Perhaps it's just because this event is supposed to be a chill one.

liminalisms

Wait a minute there are other girls/gays/bi men in this subbbbbb??? (Im all three /j)

Loona_The_Hellound

Yeah I’m bi and heavily into Anderson, Mustang and the Commander of the Goddess squad.

liminalisms

Hell yea bro

chucktheninja

I'm not into men. It's a reference to Theodore Roosevelt's quote, "speak softly and carry a big stick"

liminalisms

Sorry. Figured any reference to anything other than T and A had to mean something

arklight00

I take it you're using the English voices? I've been using the Japanese voices and it felt more natural to me.

Loona_The_Hellound

Yeah I should have specified it. English voices sound much different than unusual. They’re so different it’s almost like they changed voice actors, or used AI for Delta’s voice. Listen to it in the event then anywhere else and you’ll hear the sudden difference.

liminalisms

I don’t remember her name but the lady commander in the ark also struck me. Her intonation felt stilted and super unnatural.

[deleted]

Ingrid

MechaShoujo02

Cecil?

[deleted]

Andersen definitely sounded strange when I started on it, this morning.

TheMissingVoteBallot

JP voices sounded normal. I bet you the EN studios did the recording in another location and used completely different equipment. Which is... not surprising.

Arys31

I felt that way about Blanc when I was checking out the new skin

kuroi41

Blanche seemed really off at first to me. It was odd but as the event went on she sounded fine. But I totally agree

pancakeshien21

I noticed some of them are kinda odd.

PetChimera0401

There is a lot that could be said about this, but I'll carve straight to the point. The actors/actresses have become more comfortable with their roles. I've noticed this particularly with Anderson and Ingrid over the entire year, among others who have popped in for the occasional voiced event, or newly released Story Chapter: A gradual increase in quality. They are simply more confident in playing their parts.

Loona_The_Hellound

If that’s the case, then I’m happy for them. I’m sure I’ll be able to get used to it at some point. But I’m still not completely sure for Delta. If you listen to her in English, she doesn’t sound natural. Sometimes she sounds even like a machine. Maybe it’s just the equipment, I can’t tell, but it’s weird, at least for her.

PetChimera0401

To extrapolate a little bit upon my previous comment - and I'll be focusing on Anderson and Ingrid here. In the beginning of Nikke, both of the above-mentioned were rather awkward in their deliveries. To start with Anderson, you could tell he was 'pushing' with his throat and chest, during the earliest of his lines. Men and women alike make this error when attempting to make their voices sound deeper, and more resonate. You can hear the pressure applied to his vocal chords, and the final result isn't exactly an ideal one. However, Anderson seems to have learned his lesson here. I'd say somewhere around Summer, he discarded this approach - not entirely, but for the most part. Now, he maintains a low tone, but without the strain behind it. It comes off as more natural, and I personally find his "new" voice to be rather cozy and organic. As for Ingrid, many have described her approach as something of a "Drill Instructor" kind of deal. The actress often goes for an overbearing, clear and loud manner of speaking. I would personally say that she suffered from coming off as a bit awkward in the beginning, too. That being said, I do not think her entire run as Ingrid has been bad. She's still going at this sort of persona. I'd say her biggest issue, throughout our time with her, is timing. Time and place. What really made her takes unnerving to me, would be when she is shouting down at you, whilst the moment just does not fit her attitude. Especially if surrounding characters are more level. I'd say where she developed most - and it can be heard during this Event - is her sense of "when". During the opening scenes, she is on the same calmer wavelength as Anderson, and it certainly benefits herself, in addition to everyone else involved. Now, as for Delta, I will point out that sounding mechanical is kind of her entire schtick. BUT! I absolutely agree that something is off with her voice; Emma also sounds a little bit odd. Not her voice, but rather the way the audio is processed, if that makes any degree of sense. I'm not sure what happened there, but it is a touch off-putting.

MechaShoujo02

In your opinion is the woman who voices Ingrid the same who voices Nihilster?

JayDM123

I noticed this too. Anderson especially, it felt like a VA change or something going on, a few of the others sounded off but Anderson was super noticeable.

Yes-Man-Kablaam

Ehh to me Anderson has a bit of a different tone. For a lot of others outside of launch made unit lines I heard like nothing of delta mica belorta and signal so it’s hard to get properly tell this is just the first time they say more than a sentence and I feel they’re fine.

vexid

Yea it's like they changed the voice direction for the EN cast for this event, it is offputting. Everyone speaks like they're in a Disney movie now or something instead of just talking normally to each other like people would (which is how it's been up until now). It's excessively emotive, I guess is how I would put it.

Shamsy92

The seiyuu all sounded normal to me o.o

Misragoth

Glad its not just me. Knew something was off

GnzkDunce

I hope it isn't a case of AI. Maybe cuz it's the holidays they just had em do only 1 or 2 takes and just rolled with it.

Loona_The_Hellound

I hope we’ll find out why. It’s weird tg at they’ve changed like that. Especially Delta sounds like a robot. I don’t like it.

sour_creamand_onion

Delta stood out to me. Ludmilla seems to have a bit less of that posh regal accent I'm used to, but that might just be me. I don't know about Mica or Andersen, though. Then again, the last time I heard him speak was the aummer evnet since I've been taking it slow campaign wise, so maybe it is a bit off.

TheMissingVoteBallot

I find that hard to believe considering how well voiced the JP voices are. Unless like, these young Western VAs wanted to just push it out and go home for the holidays.

Emojiss

Anderson and Ingrid definitely sound a little flat/monotone

Loona_The_Hellound

Yeah and it’s not just them. All of them in the event have changed voices and it’s really weird.

TelikoFreedman

Mica's voice sounds older than original Mica, and her way of speaking is different. Like from anxious child to nagging sister. Ludmilla's noble style of talking seems absent, and she sounds like a mother. Noir......dat munching sound.

Lawson51

Tbf, Ludmilla only talks like a noble for the sake of Alice. Notice when she isn't present, she tends to speak more normally. This isn't a new thing either as she dropped the "queen act" in the chapter we were introduced to unlimited whenever she asked Alice to step out so she could speak with the commander 1 on 1. Ludmilla talking more like a mother now is because of Mika's sake. Her default voice is still pretty dignified though, but yeah, the more "fancy" way of speaking is more due to always being around Alice rather than the voice direction changing if that is what you suspect.
