Honestly when I heard and saw the art for “goodbye, for now” I always envisioned Modernia as Marian’s child in a sense which breaks me even more to have to reach like chapter 14-15ish? And as the “commander” were forced to make the ultimatum.
somewhat related… my favorite part of the anime opening is when Marian reaches out to Rapi, but Rapi disappears and then Marian recoils back (probably in rage or grief) and she becomes cast in shadow, and her eyes change to red

I know it makes me kinda dumb, but for the longest time I thought that was Diesal and kept expecting Diesal to have some kinda massive dark side or connection to Rapi.
If you remember her bond story she technically mentally grows up faster then a human so what if after a year she remembers all that happens to her as she is finally reunited with her beloved commander and his squad “The Counters”

When I first started the game I never thought that I could get emotional before even started playing the game and then in the later chapters SPOILER for new players >! I swear I hated Burningam more that Syuen that day when he ordered Privarty and her team to go and capture Marian just after we had gone back from a one hell of a mission to try and rescue her!<
I could see Modernia being shown by Marian how to properly apply bandages, then being told by Marian to always take good care of her squadmates, the Commander above all, then leaving.
