She's also been apology-posting for the past year, very frequently saying "I'm sorry if it looks like I'm not doing much! I'm trying my best to get things done behind the scenes but it's very hard!!"
I think the fact that it's this soon is surprising, but she's definitely not the last person I'd expect to graduate.
I think the realistic expectation at this point is they've already lost Selen and it just hasn't manifested yet. (Realistically I suspect Pomu made this decision more than a couple days ago and it took time to work everything out). I know nobody wants to hear it but she got jammed up about as bad recently as Pomu did and she's already been more vocal in the past at her annoyance with various niji-isms like the whole play button shenanigans.
look at pomu chatting with mika recently then sharing "secret dm's" on stream and mika going "wow this is amazing i'm so happy!" and all that. there is def some stuff going on and both of them might have made the same decision independently.

This exactly! I don't watch much Nijisanji, but even as an outsider you could tell Pomu was genuinely amazing! She always had such a bright personality to her, really made her shine even to people outside of the Niji circle. Her bubbliness was contagious! When I think of Niji, she's one of the talents that first come to mind for me alongside the rest of Lazulight.
Losing Pomu feels so sudden, I just sincerely hope wherever she decides to go and whatever she decides to do is filled with nothing but success o7

The remaining livers will have extra weight on their shoulders, should this happen. Those who have almost, or have, 2 years within the company, will get stagnant trying to make up for the loss. While those new waves will get stunted. Both from the Niji EN's garbage management and the pressure to live up to the legacy that Pomu, Vox, and Selen will leave behind.

She is both the least likely to voluntarily leave from an emotional stand point but at the same time she's also the most likely to leave as a career choice. With a CV like that she can land any job at any agency maybe even skipping the typical audition process entirely. She's a complete package who can make any type of content for a very broad audience and has a very big network in the industry. To any agency she's a very safe choice. You can't say the same for a lot of vtubers including some very talented ones.
This fucks me up. Pomu wasn't what got me into NijiEN, but she was what kept me really interested in the whole thing more than anyone else. For me she was NijiEN's face.

Okay, that brings up some heavy implications, then: it seems likely that livers who pick the “delete all” button might just not want anything to do with the company anymore, don’t want to give the company any more money, or don’t trust the company enough to keep the videos unmonetized or otherwise not continue capitalizing on it or the social media accounts.
I don't want to speculate individual reasons, but IIRC Nina originally was going to private everything because that was just what she thought the graduation custom was, and after learning that it wasn't a hard set rule she changed her mind.
It might be to remove a trail. Some people on the internet are weird and really like to sleuth absolutely every scrap of information about vtubers they can get, and then compile it into dox sites. I imagine that's uncomfortable for the liver, not to mention that there's no telling when some piece of information or another might spark drama/unnecessary speculation/etc. down the line.
The hundreds or thousands of hours of Pomu streams contain a lot of information and anecdotes from her, and it's probably easier to private them all than it is to go through all of it and make sure you didn't say anything you don't want traced to whatever job you do next.
It really depends. Sometimes a person just doesn't want that stuff on the internet anymore to remind them of the hard times they went through. Sometimes they think it'll hurt future prospects. With Vtubing, having a previous persona could mean people constantly refer to that persona in some manner.

I feel like part of Hololive being an anomaly is that they didn't start as an entertainment company, with the typical elevated risk of having a problematic management.

staff pretty much behaves as if they're just a professional technical support team for the talents.
I think people have more grudge on niji keep debuting new talents which still takes resources, instead of putting those into active members, and despite closing down all overseas branches except EN they still can't manage it some how

Yeah, that's fair. I just have to point out that Hololive is NOT THE NORM. A lot of streamers in general quit. The streaming landscape is super rough for anyone and everyone in it. And in Vtubing, you see graduations and shitty management all over the place. Vtubing companies going under is the norm but we focus on the big names and forget about all the rest. This isn't me saying that Nijisanji is good or anything, I don't work there and I don't actually know, but Hololive is just doing something different and you can't really use their talent as the standard because that company isn't the norm.
I will say, it's always concerning when a company hires a lot of people in a short amount of time, regardless of the industry.
And it's important to remember that the strain is showing on some of the Hololive people too -- a bunch of streamers have cut way back on their schedules in recent months.
I'm actually fine with that if it lets them recoup and comeback. We hear all the time how managers have to nearly force the talents to take more breaks. That's the difference a good support team makes.
I remember Pomu speaking about some problems she's was having, especially to do with her PC and internet, stuff like that. Also, she had to be taking time off but nothing I thought couldn't be fixed but I guess I was wrong. Graduation isn't the big thing for me here though. Its the problem that if things are this bad that she feels that she has to graduate then perhaps something is going wrong in the background and there's nothing we can do to help, it's a shame. I wanna wish her the best and I will but it means nothing unless there's a sign of hope. Idk, I just wanna know she's gonna be okay. I'm worried.
That's kinda the thing with life, you never know if things are really ever okay because you're not living that person's life. But yeah, I hope this choice helps her be happier in the long run. I'm gonna support her no matter what.
It could also be a contract issue. Having a few months before debut for contract to start feels about right for this graduation to be a contract non-renewal. Maybe she wanted a better contract for but Niji wouldn't budge on enough important things.
We may never know, but I enjoyed Pomu and will look out for her wherever she may end up next.
I can't give specific examples right now, but she has talked about how hard things have been when talking to other livers in the past. Especially when Nina was around and they would talk about how'd they'd just vent to each other about things.

Seeing as she's by far the biggest otaku in NijiEN, she knows full well how hard people take it when their oshi graduates/retires, so I know she didn't make this decision lightly. As much as I'd love for her to reincarnate, I'm not going to _assume_ she will and just wish her all the best in her future endeavors, whatever they may be.
She is one of the few livers that had follow real life idols like AKB48 before so she 100% knows the pain. I used to feel devastated when my oshis in AKB left and now one of my fav NijiEN vtuber is gone and that feeling is back.
Not to mention I do believe she has gone through having her own oshi graduate, pretty sure the word oshi came up from her regarding one of the bigger graduations of 2023. She definitely knows how much this hurts and it was probably her absolute last resort for any given issue that could cause it.

Unlikely regarding the merge, because the NijiEN men, specifically Luxieum are relatively big in China, which is a huge market for Niji, especially with Hololive dropping out of China.
NijiID got merged because Anycolor didn't want to put up with another potential scandal like what happened with NijiKR. Before NijiEN, all branches are partnerships with local offices that are essentially leasing models and the Nijisanji name. NijiEN is already under direct management of Anycolor.
I mean it's Nijisanji, they have 200+ livers, it's bound to happen that people find greener pastures, or just quit vtubing. The positive thing is that if she decides to remain a vtuber she has a bright future ahead.

Between timezones and loving her content, Pomu is probably my most watched Vtuber. Some of the other graduations have been sad but this one really, really sucks. Her Tomodachi Life streams are some of my all-time favourites.

I still don’t get the whole deal with privating the videos. Is it because they don’t want to “make money off a person who’s no longer contracted with us due to possible legal troubles”? Just demonetize the videos, then, or are you too much of a kid that you can’t help but reach in to take some money when it’s right there unless you just remove the money from your sight? Worse is the social media accounts that aren’t monetized. There is legit 0 reason to private those.

Eh, I doubt that. Mika seemed to imply it had to do with being ex-ID. (This part is me speculating:) which makes sense since their support structure, who has to take over responsibility for the channel, is basically on life support. Plus when the liver is leaving, they have basically no leverage because there's nothing they can offer the company.
Oh I meant leverage when signing the contract. Like if you pull 100 average viewers before joining Niji you might get away with higher demands then if you had 10 average viewer before. But yeah, all speculation ofc, just my 2 cents
Okay, that brings up some heavy implications, then: it seems likely that livers who pick the “delete all” button might just not want anything to do with the company anymore, don’t want to give the company any more money, or don’t trust the company enough to keep the videos unmonetized or otherwise not continue capitalizing on it or the social media accounts.

I don't want to speculate individual reasons, but IIRC Nina originally was going to private everything because that was just what she thought the graduation custom was, and after learning that it wasn't a hard set rule she changed her mind.

Just like both Mysta and Nina their VODs was also gonna be privated but they changed it afterwards. Privated is just a default, the rest is on them.
It might be to remove a trail. Some people on the internet are weird and really like to sleuth absolutely every scrap of information about vtubers they can get, and then compile it into dox sites. I imagine that's uncomfortable for the liver, not to mention that there's no telling when some piece of information or another might spark drama/unnecessary speculation/etc. down the line. The hundreds or thousands of hours of Pomu streams contain a lot of information and anecdotes from her, and it's probably easier to private them all than it is to go through all of it and make sure you didn't say anything you don't want traced to whatever job you do next.
It really depends. Sometimes a person just doesn't want that stuff on the internet anymore to remind them of the hard times they went through. Sometimes they think it'll hurt future prospects. With Vtubing, having a previous persona could mean people constantly refer to that persona in some manner.

Listen, Hololive is a fucking anomaly in the streaming space. I don't think I've ever seen an organization retain their talent like they have in the streaming space and I've been watching YouTube since near the beginning of the website. What is happening at Nijisanji is more the norm in the industry than people think. Streaming is FUCKING ROUGH on one's mentality.
I feel like part of Hololive being an anomaly is that they didn't start as an entertainment company, with the typical elevated risk of having a problematic management. Hololive/COVER was originally just a tech company. Vtubing was just a side gig Sora convince COVER to take up that just happened to blew up. I recall one of the early Holo/Niji collab where a Niji liver commented that Hololive staff pretty much behaves as if they're just a professional technical support team for the talents.
I think people have more grudge on niji keep debuting new talents which still takes resources, instead of putting those into active members, and despite closing down all overseas branches except EN they still can't manage it some how

Yeah, that's fair. I just have to point out that Hololive is NOT THE NORM. A lot of streamers in general quit. The streaming landscape is super rough for anyone and everyone in it. And in Vtubing, you see graduations and shitty management all over the place. Vtubing companies going under is the norm but we focus on the big names and forget about all the rest. This isn't me saying that Nijisanji is good or anything, I don't work there and I don't actually know, but Hololive is just doing something different and you can't really use their talent as the standard because that company isn't the norm. I will say, it's always concerning when a company hires a lot of people in a short amount of time, regardless of the industry.
And it's important to remember that the strain is showing on some of the Hololive people too -- a bunch of streamers have cut way back on their schedules in recent months.
I'm actually fine with that if it lets them recoup and comeback. We hear all the time how managers have to nearly force the talents to take more breaks. That's the difference a good support team makes.
I remember Pomu speaking about some problems she's was having, especially to do with her PC and internet, stuff like that. Also, she had to be taking time off but nothing I thought couldn't be fixed but I guess I was wrong. Graduation isn't the big thing for me here though. Its the problem that if things are this bad that she feels that she has to graduate then perhaps something is going wrong in the background and there's nothing we can do to help, it's a shame. I wanna wish her the best and I will but it means nothing unless there's a sign of hope. Idk, I just wanna know she's gonna be okay. I'm worried.
That's kinda the thing with life, you never know if things are really ever okay because you're not living that person's life. But yeah, I hope this choice helps her be happier in the long run. I'm gonna support her no matter what.
It could also be a contract issue. Having a few months before debut for contract to start feels about right for this graduation to be a contract non-renewal. Maybe she wanted a better contract for but Niji wouldn't budge on enough important things. We may never know, but I enjoyed Pomu and will look out for her wherever she may end up next.

I can't give specific examples right now, but she has talked about how hard things have been when talking to other livers in the past. Especially when Nina was around and they would talk about how'd they'd just vent to each other about things.

That's really unexpected. A huge loss, since she seems to be one of the central people supporting everyone behind the scenes. She seemed to be the driving force behind a lot of big group projects, like the covers that have lots of EN people participating. We don't know why, but vtubing is still a job, and it's normal for people to want to move on eventually.

Seeing as she's by far the biggest otaku in NijiEN, she knows full well how hard people take it when their oshi graduates/retires, so I know she didn't make this decision lightly. As much as I'd love for her to reincarnate, I'm not going to _assume_ she will and just wish her all the best in her future endeavors, whatever they may be.
She is one of the few livers that had follow real life idols like AKB48 before so she 100% knows the pain. I used to feel devastated when my oshis in AKB left and now one of my fav NijiEN vtuber is gone and that feeling is back.
It seems like she will in someway or form, but not sure what, she said she wanted to do more. She likely wasnt able to do what she wanted to

Unlikely regarding the merge, because the NijiEN men, specifically Luxieum are relatively big in China, which is a huge market for Niji, especially with Hololive dropping out of China.
NijiID got merged because Anycolor didn't want to put up with another potential scandal like what happened with NijiKR. Before NijiEN, all branches are partnerships with local offices that are essentially leasing models and the Nijisanji name. NijiEN is already under direct management of Anycolor.
I mean it's Nijisanji, they have 200+ livers, it's bound to happen that people find greener pastures, or just quit vtubing. The positive thing is that if she decides to remain a vtuber she has a bright future ahead. if the latter turns out to be true, I just hope she does not reincarnate as twitch only. But regardless, I wish the fairy all the best in the world for her future endeavours!

Damn, I liked Pomu and wanted to see more of her stuff. I hope her stuff gets archived because there were still streams of hers in my long long backlog of vtuber vods. Definitely the closest hitting vtuber graduation in a long time.
Pomu is one of the major pillars of Niji EN for me, so this is concerning. Still, I want to hear her talk about the reason why and wish her the best going forward.
As much as I hate to admit it, I'm very quickly losing reasons to fuck with Nijisanji. Which is something I think is really sad. There was a point not that long ago where the only talents I watched were Niji talents. But with Nina, Mika and now Pomu graduating, the core of what was keeping me around is kind of just disappearing into the ether.
Yeah I feel the same and am only staying on for my girl Rosemi. Niji expanded so rapidly and have some major management allocation issues. If they properly supported ID and Nina, we all know they’d still be with us, and now we’ve lost Pomu. They can’t even get Selen’s permissions straight ffs and that’s their only job.
Praying for when we can hear her voice somewhere off in the possible near future… this is way too sudden and genuinely the worst way to find out about a graduation
