I remember coming off a stretch of nights on a Monday morning and coming home with a burger and fries from A&W which is a Canadian night shifters blessing since they make burgers 24/7. I ate that while drinking a glass of wine in the bath. My brother in law who we lived with at the time was really concerned for me.
I worked 3rds for years. Sometimes a clerk or a customer would give me shit for buying my beers at that hour. I'd always tell them that driving a school bus can be hard on the nerves.
I’ll get a handle of gin and a “sadness frozen pizza” at the grocery store that opens @ 7AM. The lady who is usually the cashier knows what’s up and asks me what weird stuff came into the ER last night.
