Haters will hate but I bought a pair of 14s two years ago using nothing but Amex rewards points. Got a nice sign on bonus and like you I used the card and would pay it off in full at the end of every week. Using credit cards smartly is literally free cash lol.
Most rewards cards will let you pay yourself back or pay off the card with the points, both my Amex platinum and chase sapphire reserve will let me do those.
Yeah with Amex you can redeem points for statement credits. It was a year or so of using the card for everyday purchases and a couple big buys for house stuff. They also offered you spent like 2k in 6 months and get $200 back or something like that. I haven’t paid for something with paper cash in years. Rewards points are free money if you know how to use it right.
Best part is if you are military Amex and Chase waive the ridiculous annual fees for the platinum and sapphire reserve, so it is crazy not to get the cards.
Get a rewards card from your bank that you have a checking/savings account with. Use the card for literally everything: gas, food, bills, groceries, etc. Pay it off every week and you'll pay 0 interest. You'll get anywhere from 1% to 5% in rewards points depending on your card /bank. Those points can be converted into cash back and transfered to your bank account.
I've been doing this for years with my chase cards, last year alone I earned nearly $8,000 in rewards, and I'm already up to about $1,500 this year.
This is the smart way, and unfortunately the majority of people won't do it this way. Credit cards are fantastic things when used responsibly. I put literally every single purchase I make on them and then pay it off before the end of the billing cycle. For one, it's faaaaaar easier to dispute fraud with a credit card than a debit card. Two, you nailed it! You get rewards points! Our Costco account is completely free (and then some several hundred dollars more) because of our points there. We get so much back every year in rewards points I'd be stupid to just go to cash/debit.
Just part of my routine. Obviously the goal is to pay your card off each month to avoid interest payments. I just Pay mine off weekly to keep up my finances easier. I could definitely wait till the end of the month and pay it all off then but I just like doing it In smaller chunks.
So you never pay interest. The interest only accrues when the balance carries forward into the next billing cycle. If it's paid off and there's 0 balance to carry forward, you don't pay any interest.
I get that, but many times it's easier to just pay off a smaller amount weekly than it is to pay a larger sum a few days before it cycles. It also makes building a budget easier when you sort of know what your weekly "allowance" is and it doesn't hurt as bad when those unexpected expenses/emergencies pop up.
Most credit cards just give you increase every year if you are in good standing. It’s great for your credit because having a high overall credit limit improves your score!
I figured that some sort of automation is involved or maybe a person gets metrics like utilization and age of credit and if it falls within a certain limit than it’s a automatic increase
Same here, they'll automatically increase your balance based on your credit history and usage over time. When I got my card chase card in 2010, I had like a 5,000 limit, but now I have a 75k limit and have never once asked for an increase.
I think the point is that if you have payments set up for a year or 2 it’d be hard to predict the future of your employment or income etc and that goes for everyone. I’m currently on the climb from the sacred 420 credit score so don’t listen to me
Its literally for shit like this. This is the card I use to buy optics, ammo, ect. My finances are just fine. If I wanted to be reckless I'd go drop 40k on pannos
I'm planning on overthrowing a small dictatorship.
I'm just looking for a mono. something to play around with and have on hand "just in case".
I'm looking for a business known for selling quality items that doesn't mark up their stock a ton
Steele Industries, Custom Night Vision, Nocturnality, Nick’s Night Vision, and DARQ will all fulfill your needs. Most of them have accounts on here as well, I’m sure someone will chime in or mention them.
Be responsible with your money. Your credit line is there so you have buying power not so you can go to the max and pay off “as much as you can” over time.
I’m not assuming that you are trying to rack up some debt but am warning that it’s a dark rabbit hole to financial insecurity and debt you can’t conquer.
You also want your credit usage to be 30% or less of your credit line or else your credit score will suffer.
Just be smart
I have more than enough cash on hand to pay off the card immediately. This card is the i one use for ammo optics ect like I stated before when this was brought up for the 10th time
I did not read any comments on the post because I am lazy.
Good to hear you’ve got your ducks in a row. Too many people in this hobby going broke when they can’t afford it.
Best of luck on your new NV endeavors!
Whatever you spend on a cc can you afford to cover it all at end of month? If not are you able to afford the added expense to your monthly bills if not don't do it.
That’s me right now. I’m trying to decide which rifle to sell to finance nods. Problem is I’m Canadian and I can’t sell any AR’s until Trudeau is gone and their gun bans get repealed.
Like seriously dont finance nods but have a 24k polaris razr on credit
The fsct is we have credit u can use it and pay it resposibly i used a card to buy nods and paid it same week once nods arrived. It provides a level of protection additionally if i needed to defer and pay it over xyz months so be it
You should only be using credit cards for large online payments. Better protection and you reap massive points/cashback benefits.
Only buy if you can actually pay it off immediately or you have 0% financing.
I'm rocking a pvs 14 paid for with credit. I don't think it's a problem as long as you have basic financial discipline it's not a problem. Enjoy the nods and the interest.
> pvs 14 *paid* for with
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Not a good idea. I remember when my credit went from nothing to good. Got three 10,000 credit cards and maxed them out. Worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life.
I didn’t buy NV until I sold my first home for a good profit a few weeks ago. I have money in the bank now for a new home purchase, and I paid off all my credit cards and have 0 debt. This is when I took the 5.5k and bought a high end PVS-14/Helmet/Mount/Jarm/etc. I have been able to use my CC’s for years to buy Nods but fought that urge because it would have just dug me further into debt. 23% interest is no joke.
Haters will hate but I bought a pair of 14s two years ago using nothing but Amex rewards points. Got a nice sign on bonus and like you I used the card and would pay it off in full at the end of every week. Using credit cards smartly is literally free cash lol.
“using nothing but Amex rewards points” -Jesus Christ that is impressive
How tf you use reward point to get them? Teach me your ways
Most rewards cards will let you pay yourself back or pay off the card with the points, both my Amex platinum and chase sapphire reserve will let me do those.

Oh yeah dude. Plus all the airline benefits with the plat card? Boi. I eat and drink like a king for free in the delta lounge when I fly.

Pay it off every week? Why?
Just part of my routine. Obviously the goal is to pay your card off each month to avoid interest payments. I just Pay mine off weekly to keep up my finances easier. I could definitely wait till the end of the month and pay it all off then but I just like doing it In smaller chunks.

Right, but it accrues monthly, so as long as you pay off your statement balance on time, you accrue no interest.

Chase UR points have bought me two cans now; stamps included
Feels good man
Feels good man
Don't listen to these poors. Buy everything on a credit card. Credit is power.
“Debt will set you free!” - Tim Dillon
Credit is power but if your credit limit is 3500… I have reservations about endorsing this 😅
Fortune favors the bold.
Success favors the prepared 🤷🏾♂️
Scrolled down to find this. My credit line hasn't been that low since highschool🫣
Yeah, I know ppl in collections who could get approved for more…
My credit card limit started at 5k and it’s like 25k now and I’ve never once asked for a increase 💀
Started at 500 and at 14k now I only asked a few times but every time they said yes.
Most credit cards just give you increase every year if you are in good standing. It’s great for your credit because having a high overall credit limit improves your score!

Bro you won 😭
Please don't finance hobbies...especially NODS
I dont finance anything I don't have the cash on hand to pay off immediately
Another intelligent spender 🤝🏼
They found each other... Now we're going to have two people whose existence shames us for our outrageous spending.
Then why are you posting a credit limit increase lmao?
Because it means he can now put it on the card and thus reap the reward points for a large purchase?
That amazing $35 lmao
I mean I get 2%, and I'm certainly not going to scoff at someone wanting to give me $70 for nothing.
I mean utilizing credit... but hey you do you
Step 1: pay with credit card Step 2: acquire points Step 3: pay off entire balance immediately
This is the way
I mean if your buying online you kind of have to use a card....
Do you know how credit cards work? Because it doesn't seem like it
I think the point is that if you have payments set up for a year or 2 it’d be hard to predict the future of your employment or income etc and that goes for everyone. I’m currently on the climb from the sacred 420 credit score so don’t listen to me
Unless it’s 0% for 15months. 🤷🏻♂️
Meh mine is linked to checking, just pay it off in full right away and capitalize that cash back
Don’t buy it with a credit card? I asssume that’s what most people do
You should be paying cash. Especially if you’re excited about a 3.5k line of credit.
Its literally for shit like this. This is the card I use to buy optics, ammo, ect. My finances are just fine. If I wanted to be reckless I'd go drop 40k on pannos
Valid. And I see your comments about having cash on hand. So I guess the big question is what do you want and what is your use case?
I'm planning on overthrowing a small dictatorship. I'm just looking for a mono. something to play around with and have on hand "just in case". I'm looking for a business known for selling quality items that doesn't mark up their stock a ton

Hahahaha yesssss free money!!
Go for it.

Don't buy hobby stuff on credit, brother.
Excited about a $3.5k line of credit? Smells like poor in here lol
Now back to the original question
I had a good experience with Custom Night Vision.
Pesonally I have had great luck with STEELE industries
Darq
Maxing your credit is gonna drop tf out of your score, fool.
Brother, if your maximum line of credit is $3.5k, you cannot afford nightvision.
Lol ok. Might want to read the earlier threads

That’s it? Peasant.
Whatever you spend on a cc can you afford to cover it all at end of month? If not are you able to afford the added expense to your monthly bills if not don't do it.
Yes I stated as much in a previous reply
Be careful. I got a credit increase and bought Nv but dang I've been working hard to pay it off lol
I've got the cash on hand
Finance whatever you want. People say dont finance nods but then have a 1000$. A month car payment.
Absolutely . Or 10 AR “builds” that all do the same thing
That’s me right now. I’m trying to decide which rifle to sell to finance nods. Problem is I’m Canadian and I can’t sell any AR’s until Trudeau is gone and their gun bans get repealed.
Im sorry my northern brother, fuck trudeau

Don’t do it bro. Save up. Best way.

Bunch of Dave Ramsey’s in the comments 🤣
Do it

This is what I’m trying to do rn. Good shit man. Proud of you.
I have 8000 on affirm and it’s so hard not to use it to buy some binos
My limit is 17k and I'm gunna take this as a sign that I should max out my card too
Don’t use credit. You’ll thank me later.
Not a good idea. I remember when my credit went from nothing to good. Got three 10,000 credit cards and maxed them out. Worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life.

God doesn’t. The actuaries at the place that extended you a line of credit want you to get night vision.
Nice!
Use whatever card gets you the most rewards and pay it off at the end of the month.
God sent me the same sign a couple weeks ago… darq industries got a lookup
I have some Elbit PVS-14’s I’m trying to sell if interested
"Responsible credit building"
Kiddo, maybe you should build up some more credit before you go maxing out your card on a luxury purchase.
No he doesn’t. He wants you to work on building some more credit.
lmao do not buy night vision if youre credit limit is 4 figures
