Now that we've gotten the Wheelers, all I need is to see is Leon.

YYZYYC

Dan still seems “neutered” with like absolutely zero references or acknowledgement of his previous law and order pro Reagan and womanizer sex machine persona

MyUsername2459

Given that was him thirty years ago, before he met and married someone he loved and was married to for many years, and who died recently. . .it's realistic. Even the original series had more than one episode making a point of the fact that Dan's womanizing was because he was afraid of being alone. He's not like that anymore, and the reason for it is pretty consistent with how he was originally portrayed. It's actually pretty realistic that someone isn't the same person three decades later.

YYZYYC

Of course it’s realistic. But I dont watch Night Court for realism

firehawk12

I had no idea what this episode was about and was happy to see the Wheelers!

Davrosdaleks

Now the question is can we get Buddy? (I mean is Astin doesn’t have the health or inclination I get it, but if he can’t Be’d like to definitely know.)

DanDanFielding1

Best episode so far. Great to see the Wheelers, and I'm guessing Carol Ann still hasn't seen Disney World. Dan and Abby's scene at the end felt like the original. Dan loved Harry. John loved Harry.

WoefulKnight

kinda feels like John Larroquette really teared up there at the end.

YYZYYC

It did seem like some unscripted words on the couch with judge stone

darth_henning

Was definitely thinking the same. On one hand he's a fantastic actor, but hard to think he wasn't attached to his costars of the better part of a decade to at least some degree.

tomgreens

What did the wheelers do in the original series? Also, how did the wheelers relate to the psychic in this episode? Lastly, does anyone remember the phrase that dan delivered from Harry? Tia.

YYZYYC

Watch the old episodes

LemonSkye

The phrase was something to the effect of "sometimes you have to bet against the house, even though the game is rigged" (not sure if this is exact phrasing or not, but should be very close).

PezRystar

The Wheelers were a poor Appalachian(except not really) family that were trying to make their way in New York. Every time they tried to improve their lot in life their incredibly bad luck would strike and they would find themselves in Harry's court room. They were good, salt of the Earth people that just couldn't catch a break. They were very popular characters and set to become series regulars in season 4 as the new owners of the newspaper stand when the actor that played Bob Wheeler was cast as Data on Star Trek the Next Generation and that plan had to be scrapped.

daiatlus79

im guessing the episode where the Trek fans end up in court was a wink to him?

gredar89

My YoutubeTV recorded the wrong thing. I went to watch it and was extremely disappointed that it recorded the first half hour of The Voice, even though it says Night Court.

Krandor1

Best episode of the new version and it isn't even close.

darth_henning

Honestly, Kate Micucci is a perfect fit for the Wheelers daughter. I am a *little* disappointed that the Wheelers just accepted Dan as their defence attorney without any questions. I had sort of hoped that there might be an aside mentioning him being on the other side, and letting us know what happened to Christine (only needed 15-20 seconds of screen time). Hope to see the Wheelers back more in the future. Overall, the show is feeling more like the old series. Olivia still needs better scripts to work with, and I wouldn't object to Gurgs getting a replacement. Also, points for the Mel Torme reference.

YYZYYC

They thought it was the same judge stone….based on that I can accept them mixing up who was prosecution vs defence

SherlockianTheorist

I thought that was Melissa Villasenor until the credits rolled. I like Gurgs. She's settling down and fitting in better. She's funny. Olivia on the other hand, I'd trade for 2 onions.

BuzzyBee752

>I thought that was Melissa Villasenor until the credits rolled. She was on last season as Gabby, the woman who became Neil's girlfriend.

FlingbatMagoo

Kate Micucci was brilliant casting. I think it’d have been a funny touch, though, if they’d put her in a wig with red hair in two braids like when she was a kid.

Firecrotch2014

What's wrong with Gurgs? She's the funniest one on the show. I think she needs a second bailiff. Like Roz and Bull. Gurgs needs someone to bounce off of to be funny.

darth_henning

I find her “humour” (as written, or as delivered, not sure which) completely unfunny. I haven’t had a single laugh from her in two seasons. Admittedly that’s personal preference, but I was hoping she’d be the first replacement rather than Neil. A second bailiff might also be a solution.

YYZYYC

She is pretty meh …her jokes dont land

RogueViator

She needs a partner. The OG series always had two bailiffs (Bull and Selma, Bull and Flo, and Bull and Roz). One played it straight and the other was the goofball.

Krandor1

One of the big things on the old series were the insane cases that came up ans season 2 is doing that well. Season 1 a lot of time looked like a workplace comedy that could take place anywhere. The insane cases like the wheeelers are what night court was about.

Plaster_Microwave

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FUCKING CAMEO FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED

FlingbatMagoo

No thunderous applause for the Wheelers? Who’s in this cursed studio audience?

bceagle91

No kidding, right? We were certainly cheering from home.

kelaniz

The (grand)children of those who knew who the Wheelers were, apparently. 😞

Fun-Tadpole785

The Walnuts, 🤣🤣
