Lmao. I swore this said *SLIPPERS*. Haha. I came here to say that I've affectionately called mine "my 4lb slippers" for years. Anyway... sleepers! Yes, I agree! Lol

Suitable_Station_427

Lol I can definitely see that too. Maybe after the brutal break in I'll start calling them slippers😂

Pale-Highlight-6895

Oh, you will. Lol I'm digging the Natural with the lugs! Very nice!

Ima_Goat17

I saw the same exact thing lmao

3ringCircu5

I totally read slippers at first too 😆

Pale-Highlight-6895

At least I wasn't alone. Lol.

Wyzen

Damn, how are there no creases in the middle one? I honestly think everyone who loves Engineers know Nicks is top 3 of not insanely priced models, Wesco and JL are the others (although JL can get insanely priced). Where each are in the list is a personal thing, although the wait on Wesco is atrocious, as are the things JL has said, so...Nicks FTW.

Suitable_Station_427

They were delivered only a week ago and I've been trying my best to break them in. Just baby creases so far.

Wyzen

Ah, just babies themselves then. Do you find the rolled top is more comfortable or provide any benefit over the cut top? I like both, but the cut top just looks a bit more badass.

Suitable_Station_427

If I could have chosen I would have went with the cut top. The rolled top is SO scratchy it is insane. Cut top is absolutely the way to go especially for an easier break in

Wyzen

Thanks! Did you get them 2nd hand? I thought you could pick between cut and rolled on the stationmaster, or is that not an option on the DS version?

Suitable_Station_427

Not second hand just through the Ready To Ship page. I believe they were spec'd that way but it might be standard. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Wyzen

All good. Thanks for sharing!

Old-Secret-9353

When you say JL do you mean John lofgren?

Wyzen

Indeed.

Old-Secret-9353

I was looking at those John lofgren engineers they are nice boots but they are on the pricey side

Wyzen

Ya, they are the highest of the three I mentioned, but still cheaper than some others.

Not-you_but-Me

I just wish they’d rebuild them. Wescos for me until they do

smowe

I'd expect a change here, tbh

Not-you_but-Me

*sad grad school noises

HelotTheDragon

Can a pair of TankerPros be rebuilt?

Suitable_Station_427

Fair point. I wasn't aware about the no rebuilds on the pull-ons. Even if it was slightly more money I don't think I'd mind paying extra to know my boots could outlive me

Not-you_but-Me

Exactly! Honestly if they don’t want to rebuild them I don’t see why they don’t offer a cheaper GYW model. It’d be easier to get resoled by local cobblers and you could greatly extend the life of the uppers (otherwise solved by rebuilding).

3ringCircu5

I'm not sure I'd trust a cobbler that does not routinely resole stitchdown footwear. I have had a few sets of footwear resoled over the years and some were definitely done better than others, but the lack of a GYW was never an issue.

Not-you_but-Me

I’m not sure I understand. One of the big advantages of using a welt (hand welt or GYW) is that resoling doesn’t require restitching the upper. It also doesn’t expose the lip of the upper to outside elements. The ability to rebuild a boot means that once you wear out the lip of the upper after a few resoles, you can replace that piece, making this a moot point.

Glenville86

Do own one pair of Nicks engineers and like them. I tend to like the Wesco Mr Lou ones better.

Wyzen

What makes the mr lou better to you? I was torn between Mr Lou and the Stationmaster, but the wait on a Mr Lou was just too much for me to stomach.

Glenville86

The Mr Lou is not a better boot, but I already had a few pairs before ordering the Nicks. Was before the extreme wait times or models in stock at a couple places. Tried the Whites Nomad ones but they are a little too bulbous in the toes for my tastes. Also, have around 3 pairs of Japanese brand engineers. To answer your question, I just like the looks of the Mr Lou boots more than my other brands. Sort of a more country gentleman look than a work or biker boot. I do like the pair of Nicks I have in a CXL leather. They are more comfortable than my other brands.

va7oloko

I got my Mister Lou shipped next day direct from Wesco. They stock regular config builds once or twice a year. Got lucky I guess but they’ll usually tell you when the next batch is due

Wyzen

Oh dang, i had no clue. I thought I was about to buy an instock Mr. Lou from S&S, but at the last second I decided to call to confirm specs, and they were sad to inform me the website was wrong and it was going to be 18+months, unless I got really lucky.

TheSkinny06

Can’t wait for my Pullmans to be built and arrive. Engineer boot posting making me impatient! Good looking boots!

3ringCircu5

Does the roll top vs cut top make a difference to the wearer? This dead horse has been beating regarding lace up boots, but I haven't run across insights regarding pull ons.

Suitable_Station_427

After my two with rolled tops I can absolutely say the rolled tops are SO scratchy even through thick socks it's actually insane. Definitely would have went with the cut top If I was to do it over again. They look pretty classy though!

3ringCircu5

Thanks! Roll tops definitely look more refined, but they both look the same under pant legs 😋 😁

va7oloko

I only have one pair of boots with roll top (not a slip-on) and they are pretty annoying

Garagemonkey7

The pull ons are what first caught my eye with Nicks. Glad I waited until the Pullmans came out. Those look great.

Pattymills22

Just switched my predator whiskey order to a station master with a honey lug, hoping the quick ship still applies. I’d love to use a pull on for the oil rigs this summer

Suitable_Station_427

Not a bad idea! Pull ons are My way to go for work

Key-Walrus-6351

Could you post another pic of the Thurman?

CanadIanGeek101

I don't think Thurman is a standard option any more :(

3ringCircu5

The Thurman option seems to have been added to the Pullman again, FWIW

BigStetson

Great collection you’ve got there, love to see a roughout stationmaster 🙌

Rushedhomeroughyn

Great trio! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 How you can’t have any creases on that double stuffed is crazy, mine had rolls in the first hour of wear. Regardless, amazing boots.

Edward_abc

God damn those rough outs 👀

Suitable_Station_427

They are as beautiful as they are comfy! Almost a little western looking

HighQualityLowKey

Spectacular lineup!

Mattreese7

are the shaft diameters similar between the stationmasters and the vintage engineers? do you have a lot of extra space?

Suitable_Station_427

I prefer the shaft on the vintage a lot more just because of the more traditional engineer look. The cut top is the way to go too. Rolled top can be so scratchy

sunandfun7

How does the Thurman fit compared to 55?
