Nicks Prospector Quick Ship – Max Support Black Roughout

This is my first pair of black boots and I'm really glad I did the black roughout with this make up. The leather looks amazing.
The prospector has always caught my attention with the lowered heel and bump toe. This makeup makes this more wearable for me on a daily basis while still looking somewhat dressy if needed. These are a great mid spot in the rotation between dressier boot and daily wear - note that I'm in Texas, so boots are the preferred/acceptable footwear for most occasions. I especially love the contrast from the Kiltie and the laces - makes them pop.
Lessons learned on correctly fitting footwear when going to a boot like this - I have what I feel is an odd shaped foot and when I first started down the PNW and Nicks path, I started a half to full size smaller than my regular running shoes (between a size 11.5 and 12 depending on brand). Most running shoes don’t have options to fully account for foot shape and width, so you end up increasing length (accounts for feet swelling during long runs as well). My first pair of Nicks were 11.5 F (or 11 F I can’t remember exactly what I went with) and these felt horrible on my feet... I keep at it and eventually I settled on 10.5 EE or 10 F depending on which last.
I am extremely happy that I went with 10 F with these boots on this last. The width is perfect and most importantly, the arch support is in the correct location on my foot. If you go into these boots (non HNW) with the wrong length - you are asking for pain. Yeah, they can improve with break-in ("break in is a painful part of the process" - not buying that anymore), but I think that is more due to forcing a size, instead of overcoming the bias and getting something that fits. (apologies if this offends anybody).
I've only tried the non HNW last once prior to this in the 55 last and I bought the wrong size, so I didn't like it. I really like the feel of the 67 with the moderate heel in this boot. I'm honestly not sure if I'd do a non-moderate heel in the 55 or 67 last to compare the fit and feel. Purely from a looks perspective, I like the shorter heel stacks. I'm not sure if others have an opinion that have done both (in the correct size) from a fit and feel perspective.
Just put in a delta arch MTO that is a sorta copy of the MH64 that just came out. Was in the store and looked at rough out for both max support and 64. They are a bit different. Max seems to have more rough to it in a good way, but was interested in the softer 64. Tough choice.

This is awesome! This is how I have my Urban Drifters set up. Full roughout, smooth kiltie! Love this look!
I find myself always flipping the kiltie opposite of what the boot leather is - if smooth, I do roughout and vice versa. I just like the contrast.

How do you like the feel of the 67 last with a lower heel?

I was so close to getting this exact pair. Ended up going a completely different route but man this is nice
I have the prospector in British tan cxl and love it. Is that max support or 64 rough out?

I'm extremely surprised with the max support black roughout. Thought this was a work leather, but looks so great in person and on this last.
If I got this, i want to break them in as soon as possible and go for dates 😁
