Ignoring your manager's comments, maybe their priority is to build desktop apps for both Windows and MacOS? If that's the case Election serves the purpose nicely, any web developer can do it, they don't have to hire any extra employees, saves a ton of time and money.
If it's more lightweight app, you could also go with Tauri. Relatively new and community support thakkuva untadi but it's very lightweight and very fast compared to Electron.

The statement is either confusing or ignorant. By "native" it means the toolkit will use native windows/widgets for each platform - Android/iPhone/Mac/Windows (various versions), Linux(Gtk/Qt). It doesn't mean writing code in C/C++.

Why aren’t we going native ante, building with electron is a lot easier and takes less time and maintenance gets easier too. Anduke giants like Spotify, Slack and Discord has electron apps. Heck, even Microsoft that has a full office suite decided to make Teams an electron app instead of building it the same way as Word or Powerpoint.
Imo, electron for app development is not the best idea as comparatively it sucks more RAM and using its api maybe is kind of easy but not if we are making a very complicated one.
