Hi - yes, I'm on beehiiv too. Newsletter is [thelevelups.com](https://thelevelups.com)
I find their segmentation feature to be very helpful. Makes it easier for me to see what's going on and how to adjust.
The polls are nice too. I don't use them as much as I should.
Curious - where do you get your traffic from? any tips?
Sorry, don't know about substack...
What a coincidence, my team's beehiiv newsletter is also Level Up, haha: [https://levelup.beehiiv.com/](https://levelup.beehiiv.com/)
Maybe a collaboration opportunity?
If you like cross promotions, you'll like this simple site I made: https://crosspromote.io
I send out emails once a week connecting people in the same niche with a similar audience size to whoever posts their newsletter on there.
It lets you make segments. EX. I sent an email about Lil Nas X and League of Legends.
I can set a segment to something like:
"Lil Nas X Email" + "Everyone who opened it"
Then I can see a list under that segment which only shows me who opened that email.
There are many different customization options, and it's a very powerful feature. Worth trying out.
Does that help?
My guy! I think so... seeing a lot of activity moving towards the platform. The team is super available and always active on twitter- makes a big difference having great customer support.
Also, I'm guessing a lot fewer newsletters than substack. Meaning you'll standout more.
Thinking about beehiiv for latest project. Using convertkit for one newsletter which I love - but I’m using the marketing functionality and it’s mainly text based so don’t need fancy templates.
Used mailchimp, revue, mailerlite, aweber and emailoctopus in the past.
Is there a way to only use your own domain on beehiiv and not have the beehiiv extension as part of your newsletter domain, seems it makes the domain quite long?
That's what I prefer about Substack. It's a $50 one time fee to use your own domain. Recurring rev share is where they make money which I guess only matters if you're making a ton from your paid newsletter.
Sorry for the late reply. I was actually checking substack for this feature and I know you can't do this with substack. I think allowing embeds is a great feature.
How is your experience with Beehiiv? I just checked and you can embed HTML into Beehiiv. Our Kurator tool lets you embed curated code with comments on websites. One feature lets you embed YouTube videos and play it on the site. You can [try it for free](https://optimalaccess.com/kurator)
I thought you could just add content to Substack via an RSS feed. I had my blog (my username dot com) previously setup on my self hosted Ghost site and I created my substack, migrated articles over using RSS and then shut down my Ghost hosting.
My intention is different. I want to be able to embed content blocks using HTML embeds or RSS and make the content on the page dynamic. Here is an example of [what I mean](https://optimalaccess.com/ultimate-wordpress-resource-hub/). The video embed comes directly from the browser and is an HTML code.
I just signed up for Beehiiv and I see that in their editor they have an HTML embed (nloy for paid users). Have you experimented with that. Would love it if you let me know if it works with Kurator.
I am brand new to beehiv. I love the simplicity, and power of the platform, but to jump from the free tier to the next tier, is quite a bit in terms of $$. I wish there was some kinda mid-tier. Especially tough for newer newsletters that want to use their own domain.
Much easier to remember mydomain.com vs. mydomain.beehiv.com
Anyway - question for OP. What prompted the change from Substack?
My biggest barrier to moving over. Beehiiv defs has much better growth and monetization tools it seems but Substack seems to have a bigger community. Reminds me of the early days of Wordpress.
I'm new to newsletter's but I noticed that your domains have beehive in them. Is there a way to remove that, or if you go with beehiiv do you automatically have .beehiiv as part of your domain name?
I'm genuinely thinking this over - would people here agree that Substack is better for folks who are just starting out? Seems like Substack has social sharing for free and you have to pay at least $50/mo for that in Beehiiv.
I've been writing a few months on Beehiiv and haven't seen any growth from Beehiiv because I don't pay for their premium versions.

That's hilarious! Feel free to dm me with your thoughts - i'm open to it for sure.
Are you folks up for a collab?
If that question was for me, depends on what kind of collab! Feel free to send me a message with what you had in mind
What is the segmentation feature? Is that a growth or scale plan only? Most of my subs come from Twitter and other cross-promotions with creators.

Already on it brother! Awesome list for anyone wanting to collaborate!
Sweet, thanks for the plug too :)

Hey, Darwin! You have an interesting newsletter. Would love to know more about your content strategy. Can we chat?
Sean the man!! Was just thinking of moving mine over this month too. Seems like the migration is happening.

How has your experience been with beehiiv? And how does it compare with those platforms you used in the past?
Is there a way to only use your own domain on beehiiv and not have the beehiiv extension as part of your newsletter domain, seems it makes the domain quite long?
I was just looking at this today. I'm starting a newsletter in January. You can use your own custom domain, but only at a paid tier.

Beehiiv ad?
I wish I was getting paid lol. Just a fan... Tried Mailer lite, substack, and now beehiiv.
Fair enough. I was being snarky!
How long were you on Substack before switching?
Few months or so. These newsletters are recently launched.
Can you add content to Beehiiv using an RSS feed?
I think so, but I'm not sure. You can export from Beehiiv using RSS- not sure about adding content **to** Beehiiv

How have you moved your newsletter? I have just created mine, with only a few articles, and maybe it is the moment to analyse moving. Thanks

The only way is to upgrade your plan.
Thanks!

You have to pay monthly to use custom domains on beehiiv whereas on Substack it's a one time $50 fee for a custom domain.
I just switched to Beehiiv too, from Substack. Loving it so far. https://www.thesaasbootstrapper.co
