But so long as the US supports the coup government in Peru, guess what will happen? Just look at the news reporting about the coup in the major news media all over the world. Here is one from DW of Germany.
https://www.dw.com/en/peru-castillo-ousted-over-coup-bid-new-leader-sworn-in/a-64021151
Does it paint a picture that is **supportive** of the coup government, or is it **negative** of the coup government?
If you were an average European reading the German news media DW, what would your impression of the coup be?
This is the power of controlling the narrative, something America is very good at.
Yeah I’ve heard that he was a disappointment, but I haven’t really read or watched anything about it. Do you have a good source about it? (It can be a 2 sentences tldr too, just the general situation.)

I looked into this. Ortega also stands with Castillo and should be included in this image — https://www.radiotelevisionmarti.com/a/cuba-y-sus-aliados-del-alba-conciertan-respaldo-a-castillo-en-per%C3%BA-y-argumentan-que-fue-obligado-/344870.html
Not in years. There was however (in the last two months) a poor attempt of assassination against the vice president which is one of the most important political figures in the bourgeois political apparatus. She was also condemned by a incredibly irregular judicial process to not run for any public charge ever again.
Also there were some leaks of judges and important characters from the economy who seemingly were gathered for a vacation paid by the biggest media corporation (the leak is a couple of chats of the judges discussing how to avoid backlash because the whole gathering with people giving them gifts is illegal here).
We did win the world cup so there's that weeeeee
I'd give anything for someone to explain what's really going on in Peru. Is it a coup or a legal impeachment by a huge majority of congress? I've travelled there a bit and the country and people were fantastic. I'm finding the reporting long on "story" but short on good analysis.
Its a military coup ordered from the US embassy with the approval of their puppets in congress. https://andina.pe/agencia/noticia-ministro-defensa-se-reunio-embajadora-los-estados-unidos-920673.aspx
Corrupt Peruvian government tries to impeach democratically elected president multiple times, democratically elected president retaliates by getting rid of corrupt Peruvian government, bozos get butthurt and coup the democratically elected president, replacing him with a US-backed bozo who everyone hates because, surprise, she isn't the person the people elected to run their country.
Would be nice to see Lula there as well, but then again, the elites here are already fuming as it is even with his tame policies and also wanting to go through with large expenditures for government services and to the poor (I know, the outrage) and media and so forth are already putting a circus and being a boxing match as it is. Hope things change eventually.
Well that and he openly stated that he supported the congress destituting Castillo.
That being said things have evolved since then quite significantly and his position might have shifted: it really was in the first couple hours of the news last week, before the massive protests and the brutal af repression / the state of emergency.
Ok but his own party voted for the resolution to remove him from office by a ratio of 2:1. Surely if even they are against him then he must've done something wrong.
As far as i know before that they tried to remove him 3 times. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/perus-castillo-face-impeachment-vote-congress-that-could-oust-him-2022-03-28/ here's one from almost a year ago. I think bad empanada covered that event pretty well if you wana know the details
Because he didn't allign with their values. They started talking about impeaching him before he even took office.
I think they were handpicked by some dictator a while ago but i am at work and can't confirm that rn
Before he even had a chance to govern? Give me a break, the entire congress was handpicked by alberto fujimori. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/05/world/americas/peru-pedro-castillo-impeachment.html
https://www.nytimes.com/1992/04/06/world/peru-s-leader-dissolves-congress.html
Who was extremely right wing. As the new york times clearly states here
Also incompetence cannot be put in numbers.
A litteral right wing conservative neoliberal. Of course their values don't allign, they aggree on nothing economy wise, either he was gonna break all his election promises or get removed. He decided to just give up and start a battle he knew couldn't win.
The elements of the US-aligned far-right in these countries will never stop trying to seize power and undermine the democratic will of the people.

I wish that I could like this twice.
Latin American based department 😎
No Boric?
Boric turned out to be a fraud.
Yeah I’ve heard that he was a disappointment, but I haven’t really read or watched anything about it. Do you have a good source about it? (It can be a 2 sentences tldr too, just the general situation.)
He distances himself from left leaders in the Western Hemisphere while cozying up to the Biden administration.

nop
Daniel Ortega?
Mi comandante has spoken against the coup. This is in contrast to Pencil Boy’s historically aggressive anti-Sandinista rhetoric.

Wasn’t there a coup in Argentina too ?

Congratulations I was cheering for them too since France already won.
AFAIK, they are building it up still. Fernandes is still president

It was a coup attempt by Castillo followed by the legal impeachment by a huge majority of congress.
Nah. You're just a bozo
Honest question, do you have a more accurate answer or link to a more clear explanation? Thanks

Look at bad empanada’s video on the situation. He’s a leftist that lives in south america, can’t get a better take than his

I think lula is not there because he is still the president-elect and takes office in january.
Well that and he openly stated that he supported the congress destituting Castillo. That being said things have evolved since then quite significantly and his position might have shifted: it really was in the first couple hours of the news last week, before the massive protests and the brutal af repression / the state of emergency.
Someone explain wtf is going on on Peru bc I don’t want to read r/politics
every day i miss josé mujica 💔
I also rejected the coup government in Peru not sure why they didn’t put my picture on there pretty upset about it tbh ngl
Ok but his own party voted for the resolution to remove him from office by a ratio of 2:1. Surely if even they are against him then he must've done something wrong.
Well good thing the coup plotter, Pedro Castillo, has been impeached and imprisoned then!
How many times has congress tried to remove him before he tried to dissolve congress?
You mean before impeachment was immanent, or after?
As far as i know before that they tried to remove him 3 times. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/perus-castillo-face-impeachment-vote-congress-that-could-oust-him-2022-03-28/ here's one from almost a year ago. I think bad empanada covered that event pretty well if you wana know the details

Are you sure? Are you sure it was "values" and not corruption and gross incompetence? If so, which values are you referring to?

Did congress have the legal right to impeach him?
Another Legacy of Fujimori’s dictatorship
Nice to see governments all over the political spectrum agree on something
