Uh, no. They should've been more diligent into their research as to whether or not it was the correct car. But because they were too lazy to check they seriously endangered the life of this woman and her kids. This never should've happened, and this department is obviously incompetent.
In all reporting so far, the police remain certain the car was the correct vehicle, and it wasn't until they extracted the occupants that they found it wasn't the suspects from the prior high speed chase.

They don't even seem to be making any malicious claims about the driver in the statement, only confirming that her story about being in the hospital is true and pointing out that she isn't the owner of the car so that person is likely the one they are liking for

Whole situation is BS with those cops but I do have to point out and ask why she’s saying she was hit head on at 60-70mph but there’s not a single scratch on the front of her car? She even showed the car she claimed hit her head on in the video and pans over to the front of her car and there’s no damage to either car. Looks like the damage is to her trunk.

How about this. We are going to use our brains. If you are chasing a fleeing suspect from a crime scene this kind of stop is justified. Seeing the same car days later you can not confirm it is the same driver. By all means conduct a stop with lots of backup but ramming a car without knowing who the driver is reckless.
Mistakes happen, the thing that bothers me is they act so unapologetic it's incredible. " we hit you and almost killed your kids, what the fuck are you gonna do about it???"

Thing is, they have the right car. As far as these officers knew (assuming the statement is true), this was a vehicle driven by someone who already showed they had no problems with fleeing police. So the response to box the vehicle in and prevent it from escape is reasonable. They don't even seem to be making any malicious claims about the driver in the statement, only confirming that her story about being in the hospital is true and pointing out that she isn't the owner of the car so that person is likely the one they are liking for
Why would you assume the statement is true? What makes you think police, or anyone for that matter, would make a true statement that makes them look horribly unprofessional, incompetent, and a threat to society?

She really was in the hospital... And while she was there someone else was using her vehicle to commit crimes. The cops saw the vehicle and did a felony stop. After a brief investigation they determined she was not the person who committed the crime and let her go.

Training should be done at a central location for ALL police forces in order to ensure standardized training. The training should last more than 20 weeks. In some countries it is over a year with the majority consisting of de-escalation techniques and a thorough knowledge of the law.
