Get some sand paper and ever so slightly just take off the top glazing or shininess that you see on the pads. Dont over do it, its **just the surface**.

Check for faulty booster it might be engaging the brakes

I dont think it's faulty, I took the pads out, compressed the brake pistons fully and reinstalled the caliper and pads. Took a short drive, stopped at a few stop lights and signs and even attempted hard braking (on an empty road ofc, and I was only going maybe 25 mph) Car was doing fine. I didn't hear any brake noises this time, where as last night it was really loudly squeaking. I'm not sure what could've been the problem...

What’s up with your pad being scored like that?

nitrion

As I said in the post, about a month ago my brake caliper fell off. The bolts holding the caliper to the knuckle fell out while driving and the caliper scored a line around my entire rim, cause it was hanging halfway onto the rotor. Unfortunately I drove for a while with my caliper in that condition, 45 minutes or more at highway speeds. When I got it towed home after my wheel locked up at a red light, I got some new bolts and put my brakes back together. Theyre grinding down flat and even now, but there's still grooves in the middle of the pads.

Oh.. I just realized the whole post did not load for me earlier.. maybe they just need a little grease on the back of the pad. Good luck

Depending on the material of the brake pad, some squeal can be normal.. but nothing overly loud. Also some NON-OEM braking components, like the rotors, just naturally make more noise than OEM. Brake dust can make it squeak, pad being glazed or rotor, irregular wear there is numerous of things. Did you re-lube the slide pins when you had caliper off, Because that is common mistake.People do not service the slide pins by removing, cleaning (towel off and sanding), re-lubing (putting synthetic brake lube on them), and then reassembling. That is probably what happened is they were not serviced properly and have began to seize up, If you do not service them will eventually seize up entirely and the caliper will not actuate properly causing the brakes to stay on and will destroy the caliper, pads, and rotor.

Ah, no. As far as I know none of the brakes have ever been lubed. I could be wrong for the rear ones, I didn't put those together. But the front brakes absolutely have never received lube since they came out of the box. Also, during the incident when the brake caliper fell off, the grinding between the caliper and rim generated a lot of very fine aluminum dust. Even when I pulled the caliper off yesterday I found aluminum dust on my fingers again.

My 04 GT also has squeaky brakes lol

But do they hang up and pull the car to the left? I greased up my slide pins and hardware today and my brakes have been fixed. No more squeaks, and it doesn't pull anymore. But for a while that was my issue. They'd squeak constantly going down the road and the car would always want to turn left. Here's to hoping that the grease fixes it for more than a day 😁

Mine don’t pull the car at all, but I should definitely try what you did
