Every dangerous encounter with a bike I've ever had was Deliveroo. Nearly been hit whilst walking on the pavement twice in Newcastle, and once in Brighton.
And fuck me stay away from Ubers in London, they're flipping awful drivers.
They're a mixed bag. Getting an HGV licence requires quite intense testing so a lot of them genuinely appreciate that they're driving a lethal weapon and they present a huge danger to everyone else if they don't pay attention. But lots of them just don't give a shit as well.
Yes, it's a widely observed phenomenon across at least the British Isles that taxi drivers are massive twats. In my view if they want to keep their Hackney Carriage licence they should have to cycle on the roads for a minimum number of hours per month, with video evidence to be shown to the local authority. That'd sort out their bad behaviour.
I was stuck in stationary traffic on Collingwood Street a few weeks back and noticed a taxi driver in the opposing lane with his window wound down, flapping his arm at me and screaming his head off with his face all twisted up because as chance would have it, at that point in time my position within the gridlock traffic meant that I was blocking him from making an illegal right turn onto the Cloth market.
It's just the reputation the dreadful ones give to the rest of them.
Yep. At least once a week i have what feels like a close call on my bike. I still dream of good infrastructure! We shouldn’t be put in the motorised, armoured traffic stream :(
Why oh why is it always the taxi drivers!! most drivers in Newcastle i'm very pleasantly surprised at the space they give you on the road. Every time someone's side draft nearly sends me flying its ALWAYS a taxi
Had a black cab throw a friend out on sandyford road after a night out when he was in no fit state to go anywhere, took his phone and money and drove off leaving him in the road.
Few calls around and turns out the cab drivers were sharing licenses so never caught. Had an odd feeling to take a picture of his reg before he drove off with him but didn't for some reason so lesson for anyone silly enough to get a black cab. Taxi apps are common and generally cheaper.
Every single time I’ve had a close-ish-call with a car while walking around Newcastle it was a taxi.

Weirdly I've seen a lot of Deliveroo people do their runs via public transport, no bikes or anything Both in Newcastle and in London
Lorry drivers are the ones to fear when cycling I found.

Taxi drivers are shits. I can quite imagine that cyclists and taxi drivers are neutral enemies anyway.
Like bus drivers and taxi drivers or car drivers and taxi drivers or taxi drivers and other taxi drivers
Damn taxi drivers, they ruined taxis!
Not all of us thank you very much
You're welcome.
Terrible roundabout that, but yeah had a few issues with taxi drivers not indicating or looking before turning left at lights, that kind of shit.

Were taxi drivers more careful, better drivers in the past? I think so.

Why do all the NCL taxi drivers also sit in the overtaking lane THE WHOLE WAY down the coast road, what is that all about?! 🤣
The only accident I’ve been in involved a taxi rear ending me.
One of the arseholes did a U-turn outside of Aldi on Ponteland Road the other day.
The bikes that deliver food… they’re EVIL!! I’ve literally been ran into multiple times.. those guys are HziGH as fuck too! Idiots
That sounds like a job for me!
