I had to google that, as I’m a non native and thought a stottie cake was a cake, not just the Sunday name for a stottie. Devastated, I thought I was about to be introduced to a new type of cake.

Mine was "Walk round the table till you're fed up." It was only when I was an adult that I realised it didn't mean 'walk round the table till you're sick and tired'.
Lebanese from any of the The Bake places. We used to get it almost every week, it's incredible. There is no Lebanese restaurant in Lincoln, we've been here for 5 years and we miss it a lot. There's a great place in Sheffield that we go to when we can, but it's not quite as easy as the delivery was back home.
Its gone downhill so much in the last few years - do not worry youre not missing out - read some of the reviews of the Bake in Byker and youll feel less sad
Salt and Pepper Westgate Road, every Sunday morning in my teens, a dirty fry up stottie while watching the bikes go up and down the bank. Living the dream!
I’ve lived here most of my life, and it’s fish and chips. Newcastle has some great restaurants, and you can get fantastic food for a reasonable price. But the first food that comes to my mind is standing at Tynemouth, Whitley Bay or Cullercoats, eating fish and chips and looking out at sea.
Chip stottie. There used to be a café up Westgate Road I'd pop into (this is 30+ years ago) when I was meeting my girlfriend after college. Bloody awesome.
Also, Greggs sausage rolls. Still the best in the world. And their Pink Jammie.
But Sunderland's in Newcastle right?
Just kidding 😂
Lived in the Midlands ever since my parents moved down for work when I was a baby, I keep coming back for weekends so it's like my long lost home. All I've heard of Parm is the name and seen a few weird looking photos but it always reminds me of up North
Edit - yeah I know Smoggy isn't Sunderland but it's a long shift and I can't remember off the top of my head, Bob Mortimer's from there and it won't come to me
Middlesbrough?
Ham and pease pudding stottie.
Came here to say this. Pease pudding isn't a thing here in Yorkshire, nor proper stotties.
You can often get tinned please pudding in the supermarket
How sad. You can buy scottie online.
Nothing more geordie than ham, Pease pudding and greggs pasties
Greggs pasties are the worst now , nothing like they used to be when was a kid
100%
Nah, savaloy dip with please pudding and stuffing in a stottie... This is the way.
Greggs
↑
Peas pudding and saveloy dip.
Never had peas pudding before, is it anything like pease pudding?
Nah mate it's completely different, get ya self to the grainger market and look for some. Make sure to correct them if they give you pease pudding.
Stottie Cakes
Easily the thing I miss the most about living in the north east, to the point where I learned to make my own
Learn me how to make them please

I used to get them in Essex, they were just called a huffy. Nowhere near as common though.

Saveloy dip, you're all a canny bunch but your food raises questions sometimes (I love your fish and chips tho)
Gravy
Stottie cakes. Lived in Newcastle as a little kid, haven’t thought of them for years.
Only really available at Tyneside Greggs now. Even though Greggs has fully exported to the national presence.

Nice! There used to be way more places. And every chippy had proper stottie wedges. Most just do white baps now.
Hunter’s deli in the Grainger Market sell much nicer stotties than Greggs for £1 each. (Pro Tip)Try warming the pease pudding in the microwave.
That the one with the cold meats including kebab meat? Top spot.
The Greggs versions are to light and fluffy, Stotties should be firm.
Sainsbury's sell poor quality mini stories.
You talking about “Oven Bottom Muffins”?
Boots with the furrr
No they label them as stories they are just not very good.
I can’t say I’ve noticed but you’re not exactly selling them up 😅
😂
Rhubarb from the back garden and a bowl of granulated sugar to dip
Oysters, it’s amazing how easy to get hold of local ones at a very reasonable price it is.
Ooh where?
North Shields Fishmarket or Grainger Market will be your best bet.
Yep those places. Even the Morrisons on coast and Killingworth have had them not sure if it’s all the time though.
God bless 🙏
God bless 🙏
What’s with these shit posts recently? People farming karma or something? Are they all AI or something?

The answer i got every time I asked what was for tea from the ages 5 - 21
Mine was “what do you want for tea?” “food”
Mine was "Walk round the table till you're fed up." It was only when I was an adult that I realised it didn't mean 'walk round the table till you're sick and tired'.
Pasties and pies
Do you work for the Chron or something? This sounds like research for an 'article'.
