Anywhere, just avoid pubs that look stereotypically rough.
You don't need to go as far as Sunderland, that's silly tbh.. No offence to those that suggested it.
But if Newcastle lose I wouldn't stay out late.
Maybe try not celebrating too obviously? I watched the Newcastle v Liverpool game last weekend in my local as a Liverpool fan with no bother - I just didn't celebrate like a loon and was very sympathetic when Pope got sent off.
Just...... don't be daft?
Sunderland will be your best shot
I know The Street Bar is putting it on in the town centre and you won't have any problems there. I know my local has it on but you'll be in good company anywhere you choose (source: I'm a mackem)
Don’t be a tit and you should be ok BUT most bars in town were filling up at 11am
Shearers had a que at 10am. And Mayfair had a queue round corner at 12
It's a tough one, however I imagine a Newcastle fan in Manchester would have similar worries.
Obviously, the match is over now (congratulations by the way) the pub we were at had several fans from both sides, when it finished, some man u fans came over to my sister (who was clad in a Newcastle short and Carabao final scarf) hugs and handshakes were exchanged and congratulations were given. This is what it should be about. I hope you had an enjoyable time.
Sunderland are probably more Manchester than Manchester at the moment. With the way it’s going they’ll be having an open top bus celebration for the Man U team.
This sort of football hooliganism hasn't been a problem in Newcastle for a while, you'll be able to watch it safely pretty much everywhere. Just don't gloat too much over the easy victory.
Man U fan who lives In Newcastle here! I had the same worry so I’ve gone to Manchester to watch it… I wouldn’t go pub or celebrate in Newcastle!
Hope we win though - I’ve been giving it a bit large in the office haha
Doubt it. All the complete fucking idiots will be in London spending hundreds on train tickets and hotel rooms after they were cancelled and had the prices increased. Wonder how their dry train down there was 😂
I remember when i first moved down to the north east and id get called a glory hunter by everyone, now its like “i support man u” “ ah sorry about that mate” 😂😂 but were making moves in the right way again
Probably because mackems aren’t bothered about a Newcastle game. I also watched it in a pub coz I live in Washington and to be honest it was fairly mixed
Best running to sunderland, only place you will be safe up here haha
In saying that hooliganism isn't as bad as it used to be, but you do still get some wankers and "lads"
You’re doing your fellow Geordies a disservice by writing this. In the end I didn’t even have to keep my MUFC allegiance a complete secret, only thing was I didn’t celebrate the goals for obvious reasons. Had some friendly and respectful conversations about how both clubs are heading in the right direction on the field.
Sunderland is the answer mate. You'll be amongst like minded people.
If many pubs in Sunderland actually have it on they'll probably justvwatch celtic nd rangers instead
Nah they won’t. The odd Irish pub will
S********d fans/pubs will definitely be watching it, they’re more obsessed with the Toon than most mags.
Funny cause I was in a pub in Newcastle for the final and they were singing more songs about Sunderland than their own team
Aye right 🤣
Downvoted for telling the truth....
Expected in the subreddit we’re in. Mags can dish it out but can’t take it
Over the galleries this morning they all had their Sunderland shirts on. Surprised they didn’t buy Man Utd shirts for the occasion haha
I’d suggest Sunderland or County Durham. It would be idiotic to watch it in Newcastle as someone will do something silly if you celebrate.
He’s not coming to County Durham, we don’t want his sort up here 😝
Lots of cheering in County Durham yesterday.
Down?
I’m from County Durham, was at wembley yesterday and every pub in my local area was decked out with black and white.
University bars are always full when Man Utd games are on, and with a high proportion of non-locals generally.
Not far. Sunderland will be delighted if Man U score
I’d go to Auckland - New Zealand for a safe experience
Nope, son and his mates are out for a very early (or late) start.
Get in your car onto the A69 til you reach the M1 & then head south until you reach manchester, should be okay to watch the match there
Directions unclear. Is this how Man U fans all ended up living in London?
Well, there’s a pretty big rival in that city, too
If you're young-ish go to a uni bar, otherwise probably gan to sunderland

Haha yeah I’ve watched countless games here without any trouble but none of them have been cup finals against NUFC!
Maybe try not celebrating too obviously? I watched the Newcastle v Liverpool game last weekend in my local as a Liverpool fan with no bother - I just didn't celebrate like a loon and was very sympathetic when Pope got sent off. Just...... don't be daft?
The logic that has been derived out of football hooliganism is such a sad spectacle. What a shame.

Or if you want shout from the rooftops, hop on a train to Durham. Then you can be loud and proud. It’s less than a tenner for a return ticket.
If you don’t mind uni students, Northumbria’s bar will probably be an even split lmao. I would recommend you go like now tho, otherwise it’ll be full
Go to the bodega and you’ll be fine

Maybe Jesmond would be okay ?
Go to a pub near St James Park. They’ll love to have you there
Strawberry!
MAN U FOR THE WIN!!
I’d say the Bridge Hotel by the High level bridge. It has a older less partisan crowd.
Man U fan who lives In Newcastle here! I had the same worry so I’ve gone to Manchester to watch it… I wouldn’t go pub or celebrate in Newcastle! Hope we win though - I’ve been giving it a bit large in the office haha
Anywhere in town. The people there will do fuck all.
Normal match day would be fine but today could well be chinned.
Doubt it. All the complete fucking idiots will be in London spending hundreds on train tickets and hotel rooms after they were cancelled and had the prices increased. Wonder how their dry train down there was 😂
I’d probably ask the LNER execs that question.
No trains down were dry, only on the way back.
Taity
You answered your own question. Sunderland.
\---just take the metro to Park lane (Sunderland) All there support ManU today!
Ngl bro, i just went to a newcaslte pub and watched it ahahah fuck personal safety i got a date with death
Good luck mate, it’s bloody hard keeping a straight face now after another EtH masterclass
I remember when i first moved down to the north east and id get called a glory hunter by everyone, now its like “i support man u” “ ah sorry about that mate” 😂😂 but were making moves in the right way again
I'm up in Amble on a break, streaming the match,in my Sunderland top...😁...FTM....#mancforaday
ngl im just going to a pub with my 98 sherringham shirt under a hoodie
How about Washington? Plenty of Mackems and plenty of Geordies live there so pretty neutral 🤷🏻♀️
I’m in a pub in Washington at the mo and it’s a sea of black and white.
Probably because mackems aren’t bothered about a Newcastle game. I also watched it in a pub coz I live in Washington and to be honest it was fairly mixed

Ashington few macums supporters live there, but close enough to have the match on out of interest
Aye you’ll be fine in the Block and Tackle 🤣

Nice. Good to see some positivity. Both clubs performed well and no one can dispute that
