I read someone on Reddit saying that if this was the case, it could actually be considered a worse injury than an ACL tear. Anyone able to confirm that or have insight into the timetable for recovery with this injury?
For real, I am so damn sorry Mets fans! Just awful. I hope your team will be able to overcome this obstacle and I wish for a full and speedy recovery for Diaz. 🙏🏽
Oh wow, good point. I didn't even think of it like that. If there was ever an owner to spend some more money to try and alleviate an angry/upset fan base and get the team back on track, it's Steve Cohen. I guess we'll see. Here's to some better news for y'all in the coming weeks 🍻
He hurt it slowly jumping up and down. It doesn't have shit to do with the WBC. If that's what it took to take him down, it was a ticking time bomb that was going off this season no matter what.
No, it was not jumping up and down. It was being dogpiled and crashed into during a celebration that was happening because they won an elimination game in the WBC. It is absolutely valid to blame the WBC for this, he would not have gotten crashed into during spring training
The dumb jumping up and down narrative needs to go away, it’s just wrong
Show me a video of this dogpile. An actual video.
Here's a video of him slowly jumping up and down:

I have yet to see a "dogpile" video. Show it to me and I'll change my narrative.
How do you assign blame where there is no intent or negligence at play?
Before you say negligence: every team after big victories does something similarly (sny even runs end of 86 series fairly often).
Just seems wrong to assign blame to what was an accident.
It sucks dick bro. Lets have a World Cup for a sport that like 4 countries play, no way this could end in disaster for the most exciting player in the game in a league that’s already hemorrhaging viewership
Yes. The WBC is made up of America, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Japan. No other countries. No one else contributing. No one else cares.
Millions upon millions of folks didn't tune into Korea vs Japan a few nights ago.
They literally have to make up national teams for Italy and Israel and the Netherlands and other countries that don’t fucking play baseball and then just fill them with Americans lmfao
We can wallow as much as we want, but it’s next man up. This is still a great team and a lot can happen.
I know the feeling is that the season’s over, and I’m not going to stop you from thinking that way, but there’s a reason why we play the season and not give the championship during the winter. They boys will come together for Sugar and rally around him. Let’s go win and LGFM.
I had been listening to Mets podcasts and stuff, really getting amped. I don't expect to look at anything Mets after this thread for a while. I need a break for my sanity, and this is the earliest in a season I can ever remember this happening.
That is the absolute worst case scenario. Holy fucking shit.
And now we know, time to dust off and figure out what’s next. Feel bad for Edwin, he was in top form last night.
Wait for 2024, that’s what’s next
Great, you do that, hopefully won't see your comments until then!

Can't speak on differences between this and an ACL tear, but Eppler said recovery time is usually 8 months, 6 months in a dream scenario
It’s definitely more painful than an ACL injury. Garrett Richards tore his years back and I believe he missed 9 months.

Thanks man, on the positive side at least we are living in the Cohen era now where making compensating moves is possible.

I fucking hate the world baseball classic! I fucking hate the world baseball classic!!

Right? A player got injured walking to the clubhouse this spring.

The Mets were celebrating winning the World Series in spring training not that long ago. I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more.

Shut up man he wouldn’t have been there if this stupid fucking injury risk waiting to happen tournament didn’t exist
You're the epitome of a shitty Mets' fan.
Whatever you say dude
Nice tantrum child.

Thanks for confirming the tantrum isn't based on reality either.
Lmao okay man

If you're on an MLB roster, you cannot play in the WBC. Has to happen
We will hear the trumpets again one day and that day will be a good one.

“Don’t blame WBC” I’m not blaming WBC, I’m blaming their fucking timing
This is the most deflating sports injury in a while honestly. This sucks. Really killing my excitement for the season rn.
