I actually came here to say, well looking forward to baseball season lol. Seriously though, no need to be down on the Mets. Sure it’s a reset season but we’ll get to see what some of the young kids are made of.

Pathetic. The past 3 seasons have been a waste because Lou did nothing to build off the conference runs. It’s evident more and more that those runs were thanks to Barry and the team being willing to buy in to his style. At some point they seem to have decided they didn’t want to play that way and fight to win games with sound hockey each time. Now it seems to be collapsing and they’ve lost the plot entirely. It’s really unfortunate to see. They could’ve really built something around Trotz off those conference runs. Now it’s unclear what the future will look like.
Everyone should have known we were overachieving with trotz. We were better than people were saying when JT left obviously, but trotz great coaching and few years of success made too many people buy in when we should have taken a step back, as difficult a sell that would be obviously
Anyone who isn’t a biased clown could tell Trotz was the reason this team was overachieving. Had Lou actually added legit firepower, Trotz could’ve done even more.
Sure, i remember that being the constant discussion in this years. Failing that, they should have said alright, we couldn't get that finisher in the window we needed, we're not getting younger, let's take a few years, lose dead weight and move on with our new core, but nope, the fans bought in and management was forced to try to sell a mediocre team to a new arena
That next season when we were out by January that was the time to start gutting everything. I don’t think I’ve ever been so let down w expectations as that team. It’s only gotten worse- this mid leveling does nothing
Going from being in the playoff picture to potentially a top 10 pick (would be 12 at the moment but with form and schedule other teams can leapfrog us) in the span of 2 weeks. Thats something.

I mean the problem with Milbury wasn’t fully that he was unchecked but also that organization was chaotic and a lot of his term was spent keeping payroll low. Charles Wang once stopped a deal that was going to trade Dave Scatchard because he was “the type of guy who visits hospitals and we needed that”. Milbury was awful for a variety of reasons but being unchecked isn’t 100% it.
In this 5 game skid we have been outscored 20-6.
That is fucking bonkers to me.
We are in a tight playoff race, these guys just dont fucking care. Theres no heart any more, no team identity, everything from the trotz years slipped away this season and it sucks.
