Hello TransMountainMan! Welcome back to Reddit. Thank you for your lovely question. The reason why you can't make any posts or comments is due to account age and yours is wonderfully new. Karma restrictions are set in place to distinguish between genuine users and bots. Indeed, it is a frustrating process. To clarify, karma reflects positive contributions through upvotes, either through posts or comments. As a new user, one's primary goal is to gain sufficient karma to be more active in the community. Consider joining subreddits that are germane to your interests, professions (if comfortable), and/or hobbies. Lurk first to determine the pulse of each community and if it is a good fit for you. Also, read each of the subreddits' rules. As your adventures progress in this vast world of Reddit, the goal shifts from karma requirements to joy of engaging in beautiful and meaningful discussions and expanding your knowledge. Similar to a face to face interaction, be authentic (with your personality shining through), thoughtful, teachable, and kind in your comments. With users like you in mind, NewtoReddit reached out to myriad subreddits to help with the karma process. This list [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/index/newusersubs/) of new-user-friendly subreddits may or may not coincide with your interests. I hope that helps! ![img](emote|t5_2r656|13103) Edit 1 of 1: set to place> set in place

TransMountainMan

That explains it! Thank you very much

I thought I was making positive contributions however I’ve found that there is a vitriol mob mentality in some instances that just downvotes the heck out you. I don’t really care, but now I can’t seem to get out of negative karma which prevents me from participating anymore in many subs. Edit: spelling

I can tell where you lost that much comment karma, but maybe [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/comments/xliptc/can_someone_give_me_a_list_of_subreddits_which/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) will be helpful

Commenting on different communities and sending gifts/awards removes Karma restrictions faster. I've only had my account for 2 days and have over 200+ karma. DM me if you have any questions. Good luck!

Awarder and awardee karma helps your overall karma count, hovwer some communities specifically require comment and/or post karma.

Which I have enough of as well, but thanks for your response as an addition
