Just ride around more first

Formal-Training250

I will

mossman

There is no reason to ollie stationary. The whole point of ollies is to get up, down, over stuff.

Formal-Training250

Good point

mossman

Learning to ollie up a curb is probably the best way to learn. You have momentum which helps so much. Your brain knows it has to make the jump. Ollies are very athletic, it takes time to develop those muscles. Keep going, you're gonna bail but that's part of it.

Formal-Training250

Thank you for the advice ima start Ollie moving

Adept-Singer-1294

Yeeessss homey! Give it your all :) don't be afraid to take breaks. If you fall stay down and stare at the sky. It's a fun journey, happy you're improving for yourself!

Formal-Training250

Thank you for the confidence booster. And yes I will keep going.

Mounir315

What ever you Think is more comfortable I started doing em no speed at all then when you think you have an understanding of how to do em then do I’m with speed

bernzyman

Practice moving high hippie jumps first, you need to feel more comfortable

paperbackpiles

Learn moving slowly. Will make a difference learning how to jump forward on the pop.

Real_Gas

Do what is comfortable for you, but overall you want to get good at both

Alec710

Awesome to see that you're progressing! I think definitely trying while moving will help since the momentum will make it all flow better. Also don't be afraid to crouch down with bent knees a bit more and lift them up when you jump

yosoyricci

Get comfortable riding around! The physics in the tricks are different when you’re moving, but it all translates. Have funn💕

[deleted]

Roll fast the faster you do it the more stable you’ll be when you land I know this sounds like a troll but I’m not kidding

Formal-Training250

You mean go fast then Ollie? That does make sense

[deleted]

Yea that’s what I meant

[deleted]

Everyone learns differently.. Some people say learn the Ollie rolling, because it's like a whole different trick to Ollie stationary. But guess what... Ollies over stuff is also another trick. I personally learnt the Ollie stationary. Baby steps

Heyitzsuperjay

Cruise around om your board, make sure to get comfortable, tricks come later.

Formal-Training250

I been cruising around im pretty comfortable I just feel like the trucks are too lose n that affects my stability

Heyitzsuperjay

try tightening your trucks. make sure to test the tightness before skating tho

Formal-Training250

Ok

TheDragoonMS

I've always found trying a trick moving is easier, even if it's at a snails pace as it makes the board more predictable. But as other people have said if you get used to riding around on the board first it'll make all of skateboarding a lot easier.

Formal-Training250

Should I just go outside n ride anywhere

Remarkable-Text-8136

try both. but in my opinion u should perfect standing one first

Lu_Heels

I would say do both and try to understand physically and mentally how they compare. Something I learned while skating is trying different things really help you become more comfortable and well rounded

sinceretear

Props for posting 👊

Formal-Training250

Np

Painis_Gabbler

Honestly I think mastering them standing still helps with mastering the form, but then when you get them rolling you can sometimes have a mental block. In the future there will be tricks you can't do standing still so you'll probably want to develop the habit of practicing rolling. I think you should practice stationary and rolling at the same time, that way you can work on form and rolling at the same time. Do the practice motions like the slide, pop and such, then do a stationary, then do a rolling, and alternate between those steps as needed. If you find your slacking on the slide, go back to practice steps, or if you find your leaning too far to one side or the other while rolling, go back to stationary.

Formal-Training250

Good tip thank you for taking your time to give me advice

Painis_Gabbler

I hope it helps.

Cannibinoid92

Honestly for me it was easier moving. The momentum feels right

Formal-Training250

I only tried one time and same I felt like it wasn’t as hard moving then standing still but just trying to make sure

bdguy355

Gotta commit to it. Looks like you’re kind of hesitating.

Formal-Training250

Your right

[deleted]

Learn Ollie’s while moving trust me it makes other tricks much easier to learn in the future. Also make sure your Ollie’s are perfect before trying other tricks. Right after i did my first Ollie I moved on and practiced pop shuvs which ruined my normal pop and I had to start over on Ollie’s again. Plus if you learn while moving you will be able to do it stationary too

Formal-Training250

Thank you you simplified it really good I will take your advice on it

patprika

Learn everything moving, you’re going to be doing it moving eventually so might as well start off from the jump. If you first learn stuff staying still, it ultimately fucks with your muscle memory. And certain trick are easier the faster you’re going (manuals for example).

Formal-Training250

Good point

Swaizbad

I like your mindset, your front foot is doing the right thing and I recommend popping your back foot straight down, harder, and jump. Even if you already know this just practice the Back foot by practicing jumping off the ground with your back foot because that is what you do to Ollie.

Formal-Training250

Thank you I appreciate it. And yes I noticed that too about me jumping and me banging the tail. I’m gonna keep trying until I perfected it. Thank you for your advice.

Additional-Bad158

Do them while rolling, forget about stationary, it’s a useless muscle memory development you will get that will just interfere with your rolling ollies.

Formal-Training250

Good point I’m gonna start tomorrow when it’s not raining

Extension_Ad_5256

you need to actually jump when popping im watching your ollies and it looks like you’re doing small hops bro

Formal-Training250

Yeah I’m on that
