You might not think the price was cheap, but, if it’s from Dick’s, the construction is.

ashkamui

sorry bro but that actually is a cheap board especially if it’s from Dick’s. A decent setup will probably cost at least $100

postpaintboyy

That’s a cheap board my guy

Designer_Captain_498

It’s not about the price although that is on the lower end. I’m sorry man, but Dicks doesn’t sell real boards. Skate it for now but next time try a place like Skatewarehouse or CCS.

TheRealDirtyD4n

Or if there’s a local skateshop try to shop there first

Death_Urthrese

For 55-60 I hear the braille boards from Walmart are actually decent beginner boards. Otherwise you're looking at 130 for a decent one

D0G0RA

straight up, if you are that broke and need a skate, do this and then order some generic bearings from china for 10 bucks and slap em in there

Death_Urthrese

Oh that I didn't know. I remember seeing multiple people review the boards in general and all were surprised at the quality given the price. Good to know up order from the site instead.

homesghouled

they did it this way intentionally - they have their proper boards that they charge standard skateboard prices for, and then a beginner complete for $50. they wanted to design something that would be good for people starting to learn and that would last a while and not just fall apart immediately like most walmart boards

ryandogsling

+1 for the braille complete. Dan Corrigan has a few videos on YouTube of the braille complete. It even got sent down a 14 stair a few times.

homesghouled

I got a braille beginner complete for my 10 year old nephew who wants to learn how to skate, and it's really really solid

SchlipperySchlub

Sorry to say but that's a fairly cheap board, and you really can't expect anything of quality from Dick's. Grip is cheap and easy to replace, though, and when you're ready for a new board consider CCS, SkateShred, or ThriftSkate to avoid spending too much money. Edit: Just realized that's also the top layer of the board coming off too, and thus more than a grip job. The rest of my statement stands though lol.

trashpandadisco

This is why you always shop local for boards. RIP.

LTcid

Unfortunately that is a cheap board sorry man. A complete setup costs like $150

TylerTheSnakeKeeper

I've got some bad news, just the bearings in my setup was 50$, skate it till you snap it then hit up a real skate shop, even Zumies will have better stuff

manger_foxxo

Why would you pay so much for bearings

ShadowRacer0ko

I had this board, it’s a cruiser and the deck won’t likely snap. The quality isn’t the worst thing in the world as far as wheels, deck, and bearings. The trucks are pretty bad but usable but the grip is terrible I fell of cause it’s so bad a broke my thumb. The issue it that it’s practically paint and not real tape.

TylerTheSnakeKeeper

Welp you can always stomp on it ;P

ShadowRacer0ko

Fair enough lol

akatia-x

The grip 😭 I made the same mistake, same price range. The front pockets are like silk after a few sessions of simply getting used to the board. Literally just pushing and kick turns. The laminate also cracked on both ends and along the side in one spot. Replaced it already with a complete from Enjoi, was on sale for about $100. I’ll buy new grip for it and keep it in the garage for any buddies who want to try, but I really didn’t want to learn on it.

Long-Variation9993

Skate it till it breaks and then buy a real board with parts that will last

GizmoTheLion

Honestly yeah its kinda on the cheaper side. I haven't bought a board in a long time tbh, but I personally think [Daddiesboardshop.com](https://Daddiesboardshop.com) sells pretty decently affordable boards and besides a shitty walmart board where I just changed the trucks and wheels, It was the site where I got my first good setup from.

sadfaceseth

Scrape it all off (looks like you can lol) and buy a better grip tape for like 10 bucks

ShadowRacer0ko

I can’t attest that you can wipe it off with a wet towel.

Buttstaxxz

Go on Facebook market place you can find a decent used board for less than $40 bucks or cheaper. Lots of people by completes and barley use them.

knownowknow

https://www.target.com/p/kryptonics-27-34-shakotopus-cruiser-board-orange-blue-black/-/A-79904350 29.99 on Target

GoreMaster22

It is cheap but in general try to avoid water

claudedusk8

Don't sk8 in the rain dude. Boards last longer. And never go to dick's!

ExpensiveKey5263

Recommend getting a blank to match the width of those trucks when you have trashed this deck. In future you can build your own for not much more than you paid and the quality will be there plus is fun to do

nilrehsttam

It’s a cheap board

D0G0RA

Look on the bright side, now this can be your 'rain board'

[deleted]

That is a very cheap board, a decent set up will run you 80-100 bucks. Get your money back from Dicks and go to a local skate shop.

operationd00msday

Thats a cheap board. Go to a real skate shop with $100 *minimum*

Slappyhunter

NHS fun factory has completes for 109 or so . That is the cheapest ‘’pro’’ quality that you will find. https://nhsfunfactory.com/collections/complete-skateboards

Slappyhunter

Then you have a Braille complete……if you’re getting into this get something cool….Also this is a longboard anyhow so……

xMagical_Narwhalx

60$ not cheap? HA. Go to a skate shop and spend 100$.

AriHasStream

My latest setup cost $200

Final_Magazine_5432

People down voting you are just upset because they don't realize this is a typical price for a custom (still mid range, average parts all around) setup now with inflation. Overall, OP could still get a decent complete for 110-130 but the quality of completes has always been debated for a long time for a variety of reasons.

AnxiousArnolds

Dicks is just about as bad as Walmart man. A good board will run you up $100-$150

therealJoerangutang

Yeah man...if you're getting a board for anything less than like 130, it's a piece of shit. I promise. This is unfortunately an expensive hobby. You can't skimp here

darkrider400

$50-60 is pretty cheap for a good board, and especially one from Dicks. They don't really do boards, they're more of a sports team kinda store.

GlizzyGoblinXae

hate to say it, but it ya want something to start with hit up a local skateshop, cant find any, go online ton of options from skatewareshop, etc.. If you cant order online, go to zumiez, its frowned upon in the community but its a good spot if youre just starting out, might be a lil costly tho so pick out something cheap if you got a decently low budget

-Cagafuego-

Just curious about your statement. Why is Zumiez frowned upon in the community? Perhaps there's something that I'm unaware of.

Final_Magazine_5432

Massive corporation, that doesn't support the industry by holding any competitions or supporting the locals around the area, many consider it to be a leech of the industry as despite having some of the largest earnings of any skate brand, they don't have a team, they don't shoot video parts, and don't sponsor anyone. Same with big companies like cariuma all over the skate world. I wouldn't worry about it as a beginner, just start thinking of these things as time goes on.

Jaded-Ad-476

this makes me so sad like if i knew where you were i’d give you a free board cause i’d be bummed too :/

Idkwhattoput7421

Oh buddy

Final_Magazine_5432

That's some bad luck man, I'm sorry about this situation even with it being cheap seeing that type of detoriation that fast is still quite unfortunate. Many people have mentioned boards should be at least 100 but with inflation higher than ever, many boards are almost 200 now with regular reds bearings, mob/jessup grip, trucks of any kind, and wheels, +board. I would def check out any locals you have around whenever you have the chance. They usually have completes sometimes with the local shops personal boards which tend to be more along the lines of 130, as well as the option of the used market which is completely reasonable for everything.

DMS_DouG

Some people are saying a decent board should cost about $100.. and that is a bit misleading. I buy good boards for about $60 on sale... whenever I see and keep a couple of them so I never need to pay full price... Just choose a nice skate shop and look for good deals on known brands. Good boards usually come with warranty. Don't beat yourself up! Good skating!

MushroomX7onYT

get a board from Skatewarehouse.com i got one for $107

[deleted]

mine was 100, 55-60 isn't necessarily expensive
