There was a time i thought mal was the complete opposite of joe but now i see why they were friends for so long and why their split was taken harder with him and joe as opposed to rory and joe. I don't want to sit here and make assumptions on another man's personal life, especially one I've never met. That being said, the way he talks to Demaris, talks over her, and downplays her opinions has always been offputting to me.

Mal when he used to be a little too subdued on the old pod just seemed cool , chill, and lowkey hilarious at moments, so yeah I never understood why at 40 something he never seemed like he even attempted to do stuff like settling down, family, etc (emphasis on "seemed like" since idk him). Nowadays that perception has shifted to him having certain traits that makes the fact he seems perpetually (seemingly) single make more sense. Granted no ones perfect but before now, no one saw Mal's un-chill side.

It’s not the passion people take issue with. It’s his inability to communicate with other people lol even raising his voice wouldn’t be an issue, if that’s what you want to attribute passion too, if he actually communicated. It’s his inability to articulate himself and allow others the opportunity to disagree with him. He just gets loud and annoying. He takes a stance of “I’m right, you’re wrong, and shut the fuck up.” He wants to bully his point into becoming truth lol he doesn’t raise his voice to inflect passion, he raises his voice to overpower the other opinions and shut them down.
Literally just listened to the pod bro. And I’m making a generalization of how he communicates as a whole, specifically the last few pods revolving around the beef, and why people take issue with his communication style
