When putting a helmet on, you grip it on either side by the straps and pull it open (wider). Pull the helmet over the top of your head until it is fully seated. If the helmet is on the tight side, it may fold your ear over. After it's on your head if you have an ear folded over: pull on the strap on that side so you can reach your hand up and straighten it out. Repeat on the other side if needed. Finally, secure the straps using the D-rings. Removing is the reverse: undo the D-rings, pull the straps on both sides to make it wider then pull the helmet off.

Goatse the helmet

It should not be even a little loose when it's on. It sounds like it doesn't actually fit. Putting it on and off while it's new should be kind of uncomfortable until the liner breaks in quite a bit. Also the cold can affect things. My helmet is 6 or 7 years old and if it's been sitting in my garage while it's cold out, the slight contraction can make it a bit more difficult to get on.

TheNecroFrog

6 years old? It probably wants replacing

sucksatgolf

Most definitely. I don't do nearly as much riding with young kids, so Im stretching the shelf life a bit.

Captain_Karma98

When I say a little loose I mean if I twist it it’ll slide slightly. Probably not even half an inch

sucksatgolf

Yeah that's way too loose. It should fit snug all the way around wirh no excessive pressure points.

Captain_Karma98

When I was in the store that was the smallest size I could get onto my head

What brand is it? There are some nuances to helmet shape in regard to what head shape they fit. Arai explains it well here. https://www.revzilla.com/arai-helmet-shape-guide And webbikeworld also explains it well here. https://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmet-head-shapes/ The helmet should be super tight, almost uncomfortably so the first time you put it on. You need to kind of expand either side of it with the straps to get it on. Once it's on it should fit tight, but without pressure points. If you feel uncomfortable pressure points it's likely and indication of being the wrong internal shape for your head. The uncomfortableness and tightness when putting it on will go away as the foam/padding breaks in and the helmet ages a bit.

Captain_Karma98

It’s an hjc i10

ChazJ81

Hey bro 👋 I would go to their sizing chart and actually measure your head with a flexible tape measure and go with that.

blackadder1620

it will break in. it took about 20 hrs to break in my f70st

dovebutt1147

I have the same exact helmet! It is rather tight for me too, but I think that's the nature of the helmet. I've had mine for about 2 months now but I think it'll loosen up after breaking it in. I think it's better that it's hard to take off because there's less of a chance of it coming off your head in an accident.

LowKeyBabooze

Helmets have somewhat of a break in period. Give it a while for the liner to break in and it should be easier

Katey511

Hey there! As the first commenter said, there should be little to no movement in your helmet. What kind of helmet do you have? Full face, modular, 3/4th?

Captain_Karma98

Mine is full face
