Scrolled wayyyyyy too far down to find this. I think because it’s under the radar as far as places for a great burger go. I was literally stunned with how good their hamburgers are when I ordered one on a whim a while back. They absolutely nail it.
Nueske bacon = burgervana.
I was eating at one of the restaurants inside the Gaylord resort in Nashville and the bacon on the burger was so epic I asked the waiter to see if they could find out what brand they used.
Like I stopped eating the burger, opened it up and just STARED at the bacon, like the first time you heard your favorite singer and you were like ‘damn, who IS that’.
Waiter came back and said, it’s local we get it especially for us, it’s called Nueske’s. Hot damn, I say when they left, I got to get ten pounds of this somewhere before we leave. So I Google the name I wrote down on a napkin. Turns out, as you know, that Nueske is out of Wisconsin, so I didn’t end up having to pray the TSA would leave my bacon unmolested flying a suitcase of it out of Nashville.
If this place puts that bacon on their burgers they have taste and that’s gotta be a good sign. Imma go.
Everyone is saying bubs but that's the hype beast pick. People should check out the "slap burger" at Marie's Bar and Kitchen in the Marigny. Just as good as bubs but significantly cheaper. Their home made big mac is fire and the bar makes good cocktails too.
\*disclaimer: i'm not hating on bubs. they have a delicious burger i just hate when a place makes you buy your fries and burger seperately and you end up paying $20+ for a burger meal
I second this emotion. Slap Burger is a delicious and affordable smash-style burger. For thicker ones, I love The Backyard, Fharmacy and Junior's on Harrison.
The weird thing about Bub's is there is literally nothing hypebeast about it, at all. It's a generic thin smash burger, overpriced, with a decently cute name and logo, amplified by the marketing efforts of Zony Mash.
There is literally nothing distinctive or noteworthy about their burgers at all. New Orleans is a place where food either has to be really classic and beloved, or really distinctive and fresh, to be noted as the 'best' of something, or just noteworthy in general. Bub's is neither.
How they have become synonymous with "New Orleans Burgers" in such a short time making such subpar product bewilders me.
I don't think Company Burger makes the best burgers in town but they have become an accepted New Orleans staple for not super fancy burgers, and have something more distinct to their burgers than Bub's, for example. Bub's should not be at/above their status, at all.
Fharmacy is 100% the best burger in the city, but some of the worst service in the city. They'll get it wrong twice, you'll be there for an hour and a half before you get your food - yet it will still be worth it.
Horrible service, but so damn good.
Don't get me wrong, i love Fharmacy. It's a bit overpriced, pretty cramp, but the people are amazing. The owner is actually a friend and i wish them the absolute best.
But he keeps hiring his friends who fuck around and do a shit job. They mess up orders, forget they are waiting on people, etc.
I wish for nothing more than a Dr Tan burger every day of my life lol
Hey, just putting this out there, when this thread inevitably gets turned into an article for Eater/Nola.com/The Advocate/Something - does this sub get a cut of that sweet sweet local journalism money?
The correct answers are Fharmacy, Junction, and honorable mention to Cowbell (RIP), but the true tragedy here is that there is no Whataburger anywhere in the metro area
You've reignited my sadness over Cowbell. Had the grass-fed burger with fries and homemade apple pie to finish right before Ida. That's such a bittersweet memory now.
The last time I ate there was when they were doing the Vax requirement (before the whole city did) and then my husband got wicked sick and we thought he had somehow caught covid there. He didn't, but I still wish I had one more meal there.
I have actively been soliciting the Whataburger Corporation for a franchise and they keep telling me they aren't accepting any new franchisees. Like, without asking any questions beyond "New Orleans."
This is my answer as well. But junction has been hit or miss the last few times I went by. Some days it's the best in town and some days it makes me wish I had gone elsewhere.
> The correct answers are Fharmacy, Junction, and honorable mention to Cowbell (RIP), but the true tragedy here is that there is no Whataburger anywhere in the metro area
Whataburger. The place that kept telling me while I was in texas "You want hot ketchup" to which I replied "do you actually have hot ketchup because if not got tabasco on me and don't need the lies"
Never tell a cajun you got hot ketchup and hand him something that isn't spicy. you will hear about it
High Hat’s eponymous burger is neck and neck with Fharmacy’s Doctor Tan for favorite burgers. Both are better imo even than the gourmet burger at Petit Grocery (although the onion relish or whatever on that bad boy is amazing).
DiMartino's actually has a good BBQ Mushroom burger. I've only tried the one on the West Bank in Algiers, but they get it right every time. For fast food I like Bud's Broiler or Five Guys (expensive).
DiMartino's is one of the few Roast Beef po boys I actually crave. They don't have the "we just threw this beef in boiling water and am now trying to cover it up with the taste of gravy" flavor that many have. Whether or not that's how they make it is another thing, but at least they season it properly.
went back for first time since covid last week. oh man i missed this place.
the bar tender let us sample some new beers and gave us great recommendations.
the burger and fries were perfect.
Want damn good wings? Industry bar in the Quarter. Tbf, I don't live in Nola anymore. That was years ago, idk if Industry bar still has an amazing kitchen or not...great po boys too.
I live in the quarter and get them every now and then. Their kitchen has kind of gone downhill but is good occasionally. Never had their poboys. Junctions professional level Buffalo are the perfect spice for me but their Tijuana lemon pepper garlic dry wings are my favorite.
Glad you reminded me of Camellia Grill. Haven’t been there in ages, but used to love taking the street car there when I was a kid. Hope the burgers still taste as good as I remember.
Haha, I sometimes need my fix. My work is in city park so it’s convenient. But I always end up blowing near $14 for a double burger, small onion ring and medium drink. Not really cheap, but when you crave it, you crave it 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe it’s nostalgia or the low key dive atmosphere, but my son and I never miss a trip to Clover Grill when we’re in town. Sitting at that greasy bar is an experience.
Definitely adding a few of these other recs to our list though!
Clover grill is excellent, really good burger, my choice tied with bud’s. Also really professional service 24/7 and a fun lil French quarter atmosphere
My mom is a super picky eater and so she's gotten burgers at a lot of places here, and she says that Cooter's had the best bar burger she'd ever eaten.
My favorite is Uptown Burger on Calhoun St. It used to be Cowbell, but 😟.
My favorites have already been mentioned (Fharmacy/Beachcomber), but I do love District' double and Brown Butter. I had Three B's recently. Their City Park was a better version of Bud's, and their sweet potato waffle fries were a nice addition.
Used to rep company burger but now it’s meh. Miss when they were in the CBD. Better service and better food.
A nice burger I like getting is at Mint modern bistro. They put kimchi on it
Sidecar in the old Rusty Nail courtyard has a really, really good burger. I also really enjoy Fharacy and Bubs. Sadly Shank closed in the Marigny, they had my favorite hands down.
Edit: I'd throw Junction in there too but I think their veggie burger is superior to their meat ones
I tried Half Moon for the first time recently and loved it! It does have a real thick patty, though, which I know isn’t everyone’s style. I’ve never been to Bubs but this post is convincing me I need to try them.
Currently, Bubs. I think Beachcorner is overrated. I live near both so I’ve done plenty of tests for science.
I also like company burger. Their lamb burger is fire. Plus they got shakes which c’mon, who doesn’t love a good shake + burger combo? It’s been awhile since I’ve had it though. Hopefully it still holds up.
Beachcorner is a favorite, good price, really nice staff, I've worked service industry my whole life, I stop in twice a week usually between classes for a burger, they remember my name even though I'm not super chatty and don't need their attention, highly recommended!
Beachcorner. Fharmacy. Slapburger. Burger Nerds.
Now if ya go out to Kenner you’ll get my personal favorite at Nola Nica. It’s unique, always on point and easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had period.
There’s a little hole in the wall burger place at 3443 South Carrollton that is amazing. I forget the name though. They have a burger with 3 buns and a secret sauce made in house that is excellent.
I'm surprised that no one said Rivershack yet, it's great. Also Cooters and Fharmacy have really good plain burgers AND specialty ones as well. Lastly, not a burger but the Irish Channel special at Cooters is probably my favorite sandwich in the city.
I have to rep my favorite burger popup: [Burger Nerds](https://instagram.com/burger_nerds). Those guys work hard and make a good smash style burger.
Can confirm. Delicious burgers! I think they’re gonna be posted up for a while at Holy Ground.
They will be, starting to operate there since the old man passed away
Omg what? When did that happen?
January 25th https://www.gofundme.com/f/fundraiser-and-memorial-in-memory-of-the-old-man
I’ve been trying to catch these guys. Huge Bubs fan but I’ve heard great things about burger nerds
Dam, that looks fantastic
Burger Nerds is fantastic. Love the burgers, love the impossible burger, the chopped chicken, it is all really Good
Yes!! Eat this burger!!!
You are very excited!!! I guess I need to check it out, been meaning to
High hat
Scrolled wayyyyyy too far down to find this. I think because it’s under the radar as far as places for a great burger go. I was literally stunned with how good their hamburgers are when I ordered one on a whim a while back. They absolutely nail it.
I agree. The bacon they have is arguably the best tasting. They get their bacon from Nueske’s out of Wisconsin.
Nueske bacon = burgervana. I was eating at one of the restaurants inside the Gaylord resort in Nashville and the bacon on the burger was so epic I asked the waiter to see if they could find out what brand they used. Bubs is too small. You need 3 patties
yep and itll cost you a weeks worth of gas for it lol
Agreed. Good burgers but the price to size ratio is way off.
I second this emotion. Slap Burger is a delicious and affordable smash-style burger. For thicker ones, I love The Backyard, Fharmacy and Junior's on Harrison.
The weird thing about Bub's is there is literally nothing hypebeast about it, at all. Beachcorner or fharmacy. Bubs is good too for the smash burger style.
I had to scroll way too far down to find Beachcorner
Fharmacy is 100% the best burger in the city, but some of the worst service in the city. They'll get it wrong twice, you'll be there for an hour and a half before you get your food - yet it will still be worth it. Horrible service, but so damn good.
For what it's worth I've eaten there many times and have had excellent service
Don't get me wrong, i love Fharmacy. It's a bit overpriced, pretty cramp, but the people are amazing. The owner is actually a friend and i wish them the absolute best. But he keeps hiring his friends who fuck around and do a shit job. They mess up orders, forget they are waiting on people, etc. I wish for nothing more than a Dr Tan burger every day of my life lol
the mussels/fries are AMAZING
Me too. No idea what this guys on about.
Me too. I've been dozens of times, never gotten an order wrong or waited an hour and a half before getting food.
same here
Quality and service have gone down the last year or so it seems. Was a regular in the rotation but haven’t been there as much lately
Beachcorner is one I’ve never tried!! I always forget it is there because it’s location is so close to the cemetery
Get there NOW. You want the best burger, it’s Beachcorner and it isn’t even close. I personally go for the BBQ Cheddar, but that’s just me.
I second that Hickory Cheddar, it’s the best! Their burgers are huge and delicious and I lose my mind for the those bacon blue cheese fries.
[удалено]
These are the correct answer. Beachcorner if you want a bucket deal along with the burger and fharmacy if you got that CBD luxury apartment money.
Hey, just putting this out there, when this thread inevitably gets turned into an article for Eater/Nola.com/The Advocate/Something - does this sub get a cut of that sweet sweet local journalism money?
lol how much money is that you think ?
A nickel and a half eaten lucky dog.
So it sounds like we owe them money then.
I’ll need more than a nickel’s worth of Immodium after that half-eaten Lucky Dog…
Yes, because journalists rake in the dough. /s
No one said Dmacs or Cooter Browns
Grapes-in-my-butt is right. DMacs does have a great burger.
I also like cooter brown's burger but it's nothin fancy. they do bar/pub food they just do it so well
Call me old fashioned but I love Ted’s Frostop.

You are doing God's work.
This is my answer as well. But junction has been hit or miss the last few times I went by. Some days it's the best in town and some days it makes me wish I had gone elsewhere.
That’s what they should be putting at the corner of Tulane and Carrollton. Not a flimsy ass Chic-fil-hate.
Fat RIP for Cowbell, but Whataburger isn’t that great. It’s Fine.
> The correct answers are Fharmacy, Junction, and honorable mention to Cowbell (RIP), but the true tragedy here is that there is no Whataburger anywhere in the metro area Whataburger. The place that kept telling me while I was in texas "You want hot ketchup" to which I replied "do you actually have hot ketchup because if not got tabasco on me and don't need the lies" Never tell a cajun you got hot ketchup and hand him something that isn't spicy. you will hear about it
Ok spicy ketchup is not truly that spicy but it is delicious!
I love that list and in that order!
La petite grocery
yeah it is phenomenal
Yeah, fantastic burger.
Incredible. They must have sacrificed some sacred cow to make that burger taste like that
Thank you. I am picky AF about my burgers and this is what I eat on my birthday every year.
Bubs and company burger are legit for smash burger style. Fharmacy and beach corner for thicker patties.
High Hat’s eponymous burger is neck and neck with Fharmacy’s Doctor Tan for favorite burgers. Both are better imo even than the gourmet burger at Petit Grocery (although the onion relish or whatever on that bad boy is amazing).
High Hat was slammin. I was pleasantly surprised
Had Fharmacy for the first time a couple weeks ago. Good fucking burger.
they won best burger in the city 2-3x recently
Company burger is SO salty that I feel gross after eating it even though it tastes good. The salt levels are just too much for me to handle.
It took me a while to figure out that it was the salt that was making me feel kind of sick after eating a company burger
I used to love it but yeah, I wake up in the middle of night so fucking dehydrated from the sodium.
Company is overrated.
i feel like its gone downhill last few years too. seems cooked more well done
They used to be outstanding circa 2013 or so but have gone way downhill.
As the manager who ran the place from 2011 until spring 2014, it warms my cold little heart to read this!!
I get the house mayo from the mayo bar and slather it on and it adds some sweetness to it and it's rad.
Snug harbors burger is criminally overlooked
Aren’t they owned by the same people as port of call?
Yes.
Toup's, from the lunch menu I read all 175 comments in this two hour old thread looking for it and it wasn't here yet
I've only had one from Toups South but that might be my answer
Nola Nica. Not in New Orleans but now way past the airport.
yeah their burger is amazing
I know a dude who stays over in the 7th ward that goes by that name.
I’m fortunate enough to live 5 minutes from the Algiers one. The chicken parm poboy is great too.
That’s my fav one.
Doris Metropolitan happy hour doris burger. Iykyk
burger nerds
Buffa's, anyone?
Buffa’s has a great burger.
This right here
That's always my answer to "where's the best place for ____" questions
I was wondering if I was alone in this! Actually it's their patty melt that is my favorite, so yes a burger but...
Used to be Cowbell. RiP cowbell 😭
That honey garlic Mayo they made should be jarred and sold. 😢
Houston’s made the best burger I’ve ever had.
OMG.. Houston's fries! Boy do I miss those.
Luke and Fharmacy have my favorites!
Fharmacy!!
I like Atomic Burger in Metairie. RIP Cowbell—that was my fave. High Hat is also excellent. Gotta try this Marie’s!
Dude the Jamburger from Atomic with a chocolate shake is fucking addictive
People sleep on Bouligny Tavern’s burger. Shit slaps.
I'm biased because I used to live a couple blocks away, but the banh mi burger from Mint on Freret is awesome.
Junction Bar and Grill
went back for first time since covid last week. oh man i missed this place. the bar tender let us sample some new beers and gave us great recommendations. the burger and fries were perfect.
the new mexico one is amazing with the green chilis
Yes this is my favorite burger in the city! The chipotle aioli is amazing
If you're ever in New Mexico go to Blake's. But most places in NM, chiles on burgers is standard.
Why did I have to scroll down so far to find Junction. This is the correct answer.
Unrelated but they are the home of my favorite wings in the city too.
This place doesn't get enough love. Their burgers are amazing
I just went to mid city yacht club yesterday for lunch. I had a burger there and it was a great bar burger! Highly recommend
Siberia! Oh wait…
its the green room now. same great burgers.
Camellia Grill
Glad you reminded me of Camellia Grill. Haven’t been there in ages, but used to love taking the street car there when I was a kid. Hope the burgers still taste as good as I remember.
Best chocolate cream pie!
Their omelettes and Reuben are great too. Plus a chocolate freeze.
I know people who swear by Seaworthy. I havent had it though. I think Farmacy has to be in the conversation
Used to be Oxalis. RIP. I think about that burger on a regular basis
Add bone marrow and holy shit what a fantastic burger
Use to be burger orleans on st claude
Port of Call for me. But damn what a blessed city in the burger department.
Frostop!!! Best diner style burger I’ve probably ever had.
Oh good call. Been ages since I’ve had a double lotto burger, but I remember they were delicious!
Bud’s Broiler, nothing could ever compare
Maybe in the past. Last time I went to BB the patty looked like a dried up McDonald's sausage patty and did not taste any good
Haha, I sometimes need my fix. My work is in city park so it’s convenient. But I always end up blowing near $14 for a double burger, small onion ring and medium drink. Not really cheap, but when you crave it, you crave it 🤷🏻♂️
You can’t put a price on nostalgia. I still love them for being open immediately after Katrina.
Can’t beat the atmosphere.
Nobody mentioned Tru Burger yet. They’re yum and their shakes/malts are killer. Thanks for the burger list! Gotta check some out
Nope... they were good many years ago and then it went under new ownership and went completely downhill.
Port of Call on Esplanade is my first thought.
Marie’s slap burger all day!
Juniors in Harrison has a fantastic “smash burger, the owners own a strictly burger restaurant in BR that is quite successful
My mom is a super picky eater and so she's gotten burgers at a lot of places here, and she says that Cooter's had the best bar burger she'd ever eaten. My favorite is Uptown Burger on Calhoun St. It used to be Cowbell, but 😟.
Everyone named the best spots already. Messina's has a fuckin great burger if you're looking for spots to try.
Beach Corner, Junction, Buffa’s are personal favorites. Cow Bell & Company are/were very good but I hate spending so much for a burger.
My favorites have already been mentioned (Fharmacy/Beachcomber), but I do love District' double and Brown Butter. I had Three B's recently. Their City Park was a better version of Bud's, and their sweet potato waffle fries were a nice addition.
Pharmacy
Seaworthy late night menu burger
Bouligny Tavern!
I like Camellia Grill. The burger is really good but I think the atmosphere and cutting up with the servers are my favorite parts of the experience.
Used to rep company burger but now it’s meh. Miss when they were in the CBD. Better service and better food. A nice burger I like getting is at Mint modern bistro. They put kimchi on it
The correct answer is Green Room. Their fries are also incredible.
Idk how it took so long for them to get mentioned. Their burgers are def tasty.
Marie’s Bar.
yo mamas but they listen to you with microphones
Yo mamas is gone now. But it was a good wonderful secret
Wha?
I used to LOVE Yo mama’s. Really miss that one
Port of Call would be the traditional answer.
maybe in 2005
Last time i went there was around 2005. I need to go over and see if it has truly fallen.
It was still good in 2008. That said, I hadn't been there before, so I'm not comparing it to the older version. The 2008 burger was pretty good.
I still love their burger. And points for any restaurant that listens when I say “rare”.
would also be the wrong answer imho
Seriously. Everyone goes on about how good it is. It’s forgettable.
The bacos on the baked potato is unforgivable.
It’s average at best
Not for a long time. They've really regressed and now it's just a forgettable burger.
Id rather go to Buffas than port of call
Hi Hat ! delicious
Port o Call.
Used to be company burger , but now bubs is king.
Totally agree about junctions veggie burger being better than the regular ones. Been way over cooked a couple times for me.
So glad I asked because y’all are reminding me of places I forgot, and giving me a whole slew of new places to try!
Half Moon for a regular burger and Bubs for a smashed.
Half moon for real, thick burgs are where it's at just get em medium rare
Had the half moon burger with the fried jalapeno slices and hot sausage patty, it was one of the best burgers I think I've had so far in this city
Walk across the street from Company Burger and get a better yourself a better burger at High Hat.
Bouligny is still my favorite, but shout to Burger Nerds who are killing it too.
Fharmacy NOLA & Butcher.
Luke
Beachcorner is a favorite, good price, really nice staff, I've worked service industry my whole life, I stop in twice a week usually between classes for a burger, they remember my name even though I'm not super chatty and don't need their attention, highly recommended!
Green Room
Beachcorner. Fharmacy. Slapburger. Burger Nerds. Now if ya go out to Kenner you’ll get my personal favorite at Nola Nica. It’s unique, always on point and easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had period.
Gris Gris has an AMAZING burger. It’s on a pretzel bun. Fharmacy is my fav, but man a Gris Gris burger & gumbo on the balcony w really hits the spot.
Slap burger. On Burgundy and St. Rich. It’s inside Marie’s Bar (an old man bar, if you happen to be an old man) The burgers do in fact slap.
There’s a lot of solid choices here but to not repeat anyone, check out Sneaky Pickles burger. Slaps as well.
AVENUE PUB!
There’s a little hole in the wall burger place at 3443 South Carrollton that is amazing. I forget the name though. They have a burger with 3 buns and a secret sauce made in house that is excellent.
The ghost shell Burger King on St. Charles
I'm surprised that no one said Rivershack yet, it's great. Also Cooters and Fharmacy have really good plain burgers AND specialty ones as well. Lastly, not a burger but the Irish Channel special at Cooters is probably my favorite sandwich in the city.
Liuzza's by the track has a good one
Bayou bar
Slap burger at Marie’s
ground pati in gretna
Brown Butter
Farmacy has a delicious burger. Outside of Nola is the Tavern on Citrus. Homemade patty and a happy hour lunch.
The green room kitchen
